  1. Well said.

All of to potty mouthed trash talking TF and TDA members come back when you can take in YOUR recruitment forum.

The silly-assed trolls of the SLRN may do the same.

I have thought long and hard about what core values separate your clan from mine.

First: I would never call a [sORRY] member a "silly-assed troll".

Second: In my clan we have a motto we "try" to uphold -- "Humble in defeat, gracious in victory" -- simply put my clan would think it ludicrus to defeat a Captain, Clan, or even Nation and then require them to "submit" to our clan leader. We would simply type gg and suggest we play again at their convenience. :)

I agree not all players in NA see things as my clan does and I've tried to point out the positives about [sORRY] - it is a good place for those who DO like to make a defeated player, clan, or nation "submit".

I think on that we can agree.

  2. I think the [sORRY] clan sometimes gets a bad rap. I applaud their interest in the game and the demands they put on each other to be the best. Everybody wants to be the best they can be at something, or even many things. When I studied in business school I made the effort to excel, and even studying Taekwando I was very interested in mastering the art and being the best I could be.

This game will attract all sorts of people and they will have all sorts of play styles, some will go to great lengths to make others fully understand the reasons for their defeat.

I think the [sORRY] clan is a perfect landing spot for the type of player who takes great pride in winning and then keeping the defeated players down and making them submit.

And now a word about mastering ones emotions

  3. "War is the continuation of politics by other means."

Clausewitz has a fair point. Politics drive the conflicts and the conflicts are what make a PVP MMO fun. This proposed update doesn't force you to partake in the political climate- it does however formalize a state of affairs that already exists in game and gives it purpose and direction. That, I think, is a step in the right direction.

Clausewitz's opinion has war coming AFTER politics hence the use of the word "continuation".

Since in Naval Action we already have war - it would seem getting involved heavily into politics would be a step backwards....at least as far as "action" is concerned.

  4. I have many alts at my "disposal" Sir, and quite frankly they don't have the time or inclination to bother with sabotaging you in such a way.

I will bet you dollars to donuts that this was a newer player of your nation and that now he will likely never ever join with you again after such treatment as he received.

You will find it hard to proceed if you over value your pixels too much - relax have fun :)

Anolytic, thanks for the pro tip about Vieques ;)

  5. Here is a port battle time issue idea.

When a nation choose a port to attack deffenders and atackers eliminate a time window(for example two hours) each one until just one is avalaiable.

For example, using two hours windows:

England choose Tampico for an attack.

Spain receive a message and see the windows:

    00:00--02:00

    02:00--04:00

    .

    .

    .

    .

    22:00--00:00

    Spain delete 02:00--04:00 window

    Now england delete another window

    Spaim delete another...

Now there is just one time window for the attack and is a suitable time for both countries.

Sorry for my english, I wish you understand the idea.

    so -

    1. Attacker declares intent to attack port = all time windows available

2 defender gets "turn" - removes to them least desirable window.

    3. attacker gets "turn" - removes to them least desirable window left.

    4. Turn defender - removes to them least desirable window left.

    5. Turn attacker - removes to them least desirable window left.

    6. Turn defender - removes to them least desirable window left.

    7. Turn attacker - removes to them least desirable window left.

    8. Only one window left - that is when attack is scheduled to happen.

    Yes?

    I like it.

I would add = all turns happen in first 24 hrs after attack announcement. Any member of the parliament can take a turn for their country, but it is recorded "who" selected a particular time.

If a country fails to take a turn in time - RNGeesus takes their turn?

  6. When you start your air campaign with Brewster Buffalos and Curtis Hawks you don't have a tech advantage over Bf-109s and the rest of the German Air Force. When half the German Air Force did its training in the Spanish civil war learning why the allied "V" formation sucked as a tactic you don't have a skill advantage. When Albert ball the top US ace has less than half the air to air kills of the top three German aces you don't have a skill advantage.

Should we get into Sherman tanks vs. Tiger Tanks?

US subs that would accidentally sink themselves vs the German North Atlantic wolf packs?

USA rifle companies vs. German mp-40 armed storm troopers?

About the only area the USA started WW2 with any kind if tech or skill advantage was in aircraft carriers since the Germans never felt they needed them. The USA may have learned fast but they started out rather pathetic. The huge production sleeping giant that they were could produce enough second rate tanks and equipment to offset the German tech and early skill advantages.

Glad we are clear on exactly who won WWII and who surrendered.

Please don't spam the thread with several posts in a row - just use edit to add additional thoughts you have. :)

  7. I really like the idea of a 2x larger tag circle combined with a 30 second join timer -- COMBINED with all non tagged human sailors in the tag circle having an "opt out" option, NPC's would always be included.

While in operation it could be simple and clean, it might require some programmatic magic by the devs. It might require everyone in a tag circle being able to see it - combined with a pop up "join Surprise v. 3rd" or "decline" with an auto decline after 30 seconds.

  8. Filoot - I am glad you appreciate your victories, and I am glad you are there for us as (semi) worthy adversaries. I'm sure we will see each other many times as this game drags on and on and on .....

Think about this: We are just one clan, yet we are quite willing to take on all of your clans at one time. Sure we had a setback, but we do learn.

  9. No, I was making a comment about the 22 country-list never invaded by Brits and sweden being one.

My constant forum-stalker couldnt even let me do that without commenting.

Then U turn it around and telling me im "pointing fingers" and "being interested in arguing".

But it seems like one cant do anything here in NN without being jumped and dragged into "DRUNK" here and "DRUNK" there.

    Ur truely a sad character

Well to be fair in my google translate his tag line "Secrétaire d'Etat à la démagogie, aux polémiques stériles et aux humiliations publiques" did come back as "King of the trolls". I wondered only for a second if Google was broken. :)

  10. I am so sad with this whole shituation: We went out last night and went to several Spanish ports looking for the next hiding spot for the French. We weren't sure which way the French might run after we burn Jagua.

So to be sure we burned several Spanish ports, we were nice and left the timers right where the Spanish set them :04-06 server time. If fact it was quite funny we only finished the last one about 5 min before server reset - whew.

    -----

I am quite perplexed as to why the Spanish would set the port timers of so many towns at :04-06 and then not show up to defend the ports? We showed up for the barbecue right when they invited us.

BTW I am a west coast US player - so :04-06 is my prime time :)
