  1. A fundamental of games that both (or all) sides have an EQUAL chance of winning at the onset, well unless or course, you are in a casino.

The ability of one Nation, Clan, or group to War Bomba another nation WITHOUT any defense violates this for an example.

    ----

In games that last (Baseball, Lacrosse, Rugby etc.) both sides have an equal chances to become the victor and equal chances to be the "victim" ---- NA is fundamentally about setting up the "game, instance, or happening" in such a way that YOUR team has a much better chance of becoming "not" the victim.

A certain amount of unevenness in gear is exciting since it gives you something to "overcome" ---- but it reaches a point where when you get ganked for the "last" time - it really is the "LAST" time. I now know two players now who have left the game for the last time (so they swear) because of this unsustainable advantage that the gankers (Ambush Attackers) get.

The drag on the game is pretty strong ......

  2. The problem is that there is just ONE battle for the port - well, actually the whole area.

We need a series of battles and/or objectives that an attacker can do - but that a determined defender can defend against - not an easy thing given the "ingenuity" of some players.

Perhaps a series of objectives for a regional capitol that involves 7 (out of 10) successful skirmishes in a 12 hour period and the region flips ownership - if a defender wins 4 in the time frame the area is saved.

  3. I have given it my all for a few days and I find the crafting system overly complex for most players as it is. But it is the need to find, transport and store the extra materials that is the weight dragging on me.

The increased difficulty building custom ships is going to kill PvP even more as no one will want to risk their good ships simply because it's a week or more hauling to replace it.

  4. RUS clan did not reach the quarterfinals thus have not received any rewards from the tournament.

Also regarding something else you mentioned before:  SLRN Team 1 (Manuva, Freddykrueger, Snoopy) have reached the quarterfinals and received that Cecilia as a reward.

So you are saying [RUS] did NOT have OP L'Ocean's at Savanna? That the cannonballs just always bounce off the side of their ships as a natural course of events?

Also are you saying that I didn't pay as much for the game as Manuva, Freddykrueger and Snoopy did - since I don't get that Santa Cecilia?

  5.

    snip....

What you did was claim that Russian clans were being favored by Russian devs, while ignoring everyone else that had also received rewards from the tournament and events. That was entirely out of line.

No, all i did was express MY concerns based on MY own experience - since my only dealings with the PvP'er and their "special toys" was 1. Fighting and losing to the "special" Santi Cecilias of [RUBLI] around Bermuda and 2. Watching the feed of the port battle for Savanna and seeing with my own eyes how OP the "Special" L'Ocean's of [RUS] were.

Again: complaining that two Russian clans are getting "special" toys that are unavailable to me is not claiming anything except that the way "special" toys are handed out is unfair - the rest is your own inference and it is wrong.

The FACT that my experience involves only Russian Clans is incidental - and YOU are the one(s) making a big deal out of it.

After all it would be hard for me to base my observations on YOUR experience - now wouldn't it?

  6. Since you seem not to understand plain words, let's be even more clear.

His problem is the following: on one side, you play casual crafting but dedicated PVP and you can have everything a pro crafter has ... plus Ocean, Agamemnon, Heavy rattle, paint schemes er cetera. On the other side, he plays casual PVP but dedicated crafter and he cannot have a lot of the things you can have being a top PVPer.

So, just to let you understand even better: if the game gives a lot of plus to the elite PVP but not a single one to the dedicated crafter, the crafter has a grounded argument to tell it's unbalaced.

And finally, in order to be sure that you will focus on the point: what would you tell if permium ships, paint schemes, agamemnon, Ocean and Heavy rattle BP would be given - let's say - ONLY to playes that has crafted at least 20 golden santisima BUT not in any PVP related event?

    Is it more clear now?

As one of the first few LvL 50 crafters and one of the MOST dedicated players (over 8000 hrs played) I can say I never expected SPECIAL perks as a reward. TBH I also never expected to be treated like crapola for voicing my concern that some PvPers were getting special toys.

Be careful what you voice your concerns about - you too might lose your status as tester. But now I am free to express my dislike of the "system" of rewarding some players and not all.

It sucks and there are plenty of fair ways to make certain BP rare .....

  7. My god Tommy, get over yourself - Perhaps because English is not your first language you misunderstand me?

Do you really think [RUBLI] and [RUS] are not Russian Clans?

I am not saying ANYTHING about their "Russianness" I am only talking about them having better gear than 99% of the players - If I said "Clan X" has better gear than 99% of the players you would have little clue who I was talking about, Since I had pointed out I was talking about [RUBLI] and [RUS] earlier - I (mistakenly) thought people would read the whole thread and know I was talking about those TWO clans only - not the entire population of Russia.

YOU might be the one with a "Russian Bias" since you automatically assume any time anyone uses the word Russian - they are accusing "Russian Bias".

I don't hear you whine "Aussie" bias when some clan wearing Brit colors is called "Aussie" ....

    -----

I AM ACCUSING GEAR BIAS - WHICH HAS BEEN ACKNOWLEDGED BY ALL.

    -----

Why don't you polish your own opinion instead of misconstruing mine - I have stated my opinion and I don't give a rat's rump if you agree or not.

  8. After the last special event happend and neither French, Denmark or Sweden had a l'Ocean blueprint we tried to buy one from you for over 200 Million, collected from multiple clans. Guess what your answer was: No, we dont want to give one to the enemy!

And now after you lost a port battle with even numbers you start crying ...

Seems like having a disadvantage is fine as long as its not in your country  :)

    A really odd response:

    A: I "never" had a L'Ocean blueprint

B: I can see why someone who did wouldn't want to sell it for any price - why you whine about that IDK

C: I paid the same $ for my copy of the game as you did yours - to be fair we should get exactly the same access to "gear", "good gear" and "better gear"

If the dev's want to set up this game as a skill based tournament only game, I can't stop them - my opinion is they will wall off the game from thousands of casual players who just want some fun and to sail a pixel ship for an hour or two after work. If they do I think they should warn potential buyers, as I will in my modified review.

If you don't like my opinion please just show me reasons I'm wrong instead of whining that I am whining

  9. I could not imagine talking to any of my bosses like that (as I have worked multiple jobs).  Why would you take such a disrespectful tone?  While tone is never conveyed through the internet, we apply tone over top as humans, in order to make more context of things.  Even as I type this, I have an "inner voice" I hear it written in, adding tone.

This may be hard for you to hear, but the tone in your post is not a positive one.  In fact, it is decidedly negative.  When you come in with such a confrontational attitude, those who are willing to help become exponentially less willing to help.  If you want answers to questions - honest, well thought out, robust answers, you need to have an appropriate tone.  Otherwise, people will just tune you out.

Why would you consider yourself as his boss?

  10. I can undersatand you, and PLEASE dont get me wrong. I LOVE naval action, and it is because i love this game that i do CARE, i never was against anything that the des trowed at us, i aways wecome everey single decision until you decide to gave ships as prizes. and i will always be against that. So please don't think that my criticism is hate beacause is quite the oposite!

    Me Too!

  11. Magnum.

Tommy is right.. this is ridiculous.

    First

Event ships were invented by EVE in 2003

    http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Special_Edition_Ships

Those ships could be only received in tournaments and they are doing it every year since then.

The 2016 tournament recently ended and given out special ships not available to grinders https://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/atxiv-prizes-and-draw-results/

    Second

Before and even in the beginning of summer 2015 you accused us on favoring swedish (when i sailed for sweden) then month later danes, then pirates, then americans, dutch, then spanish, then french, then pirates, now rubli and other tournament winners.

I don't understand the hints.. do you want us only to favor British? The joke is getting old. Maybe its time for you to accept that we favor everyone in this game, including you.

Or just say it as it is.. you don't like tournament winners and don't want us to give tournament prizes to anyone

(including small battle challenge winners - we chipped in to the pool of that player organized event).

PS. and its not like they are not usable by everyone. You can just buy them. or board them from people who have them. They are not Bind on Equip. I know people are selling them and we see transactions in logs.

    Totally wrong answer

If you persist in building in ways to advantage some players who due to circumstances are able to attend "events" and thus disadvantage those who can't make it - you will harm your own game.

It is up to you to do that - I can't stop you - I can only advise.

I also can't help it if you want to call some of my past advice "accusing" - I can only be saddened about that, you have succeeded in hurting my feelings as Bonehead Tommy could not.

The unwritten rule of a sandbox game is: every paying customer gets the same sand to play in, THEY get to decide how they use it.

  12. Here is how: Make EVERY single Blueprint available for purchase with in game cash in Country Capitols for a price that is the same for all countries, Make the ships you want to keep rare VERY expensive - even INSANELY expensive. Since every single player has equal access to "making" in game cash it is eminently fair .....

It also has the advantage of being stupid simple.....

To do otherwise is to promote systemic unfairness - game-breaking by any standard.

  13. My comment was aimed at Magnum and him alone. I know several Brits have made constructive criticism, Magnum however, has not (Afaik atleast).

    snip, opinionated bloviation ....

Disgusted of you calling RUS russian? Nope.

Disgusted by you acting like a Hypocrite and calling "russian bias"? Yes very much so.

I have edited my original post so you HYPER SENSITIVITY will not be offended - I did not call russian bias - I called "some players have access to better gear"

As long as the BP's to these most desirable ships are not available to every paying player (tester) equally there will be "salt" - mark my words.

    ----

Perhaps they are just testing how far they can go before people rebel?

  14. Level of salt here is crazy Magnum.

Olav explained the Santa Cecilia. Perhaps i should go over the L'Ocean stuff.

First of all. You didn't complain when the British and US were the only ones with access to L'Ocean BP.

Second. You have access to L'Ocean BP (You are British), you can have "OP L'Ocean" too if you want.

Third. OCEAN T1 won the tournament, we got L'Ocean and Aggy BP's (4 of each) as prize from the devs. Instead of being selfish douchebags we thought to ourselves, perhaps we should share these BP's with other nations that dont have access to those BP's?

So guess what, we gave 1 L'Ocean BP to Sveno (HRE). We sold 2 L'Ocean BP's for cheap, Danish bought 1 and French bought 1. We make L'Oceans for the Spanish since we didn't have a BP for them.

As for Aggy BP's we gave 1 to Sveno (HRE) and sold 1 to Spanish and 1 to French.

We make those 2 ships for anyone in our "alliance".

Your ignorance is beyond me. I have never experienced any russian bias in this game so please remove your disgusting comments and attitude. Leaves a horribru taste in my mouth.

    Tommy

The thread asks for feedback - I gave mine. Perhaps I stated it in the wrong way - so I'll restate it:

In EVE all players pay the same price to play the game - all players have equal access to the "good" gear. Grinders might have "more" gear but not "better" gear.

In NA all "testers" pay the same price to play the game - SOME have access to "better" gear.

All of you are free to disagree with me.

To be disgusted because I called the members of [RUS] Russian is really really wierd - what do you think [RUS] stands for?

  15. The following clans recieved 4 santa cecilias due to tournament:

RDNN, RUBLI, WO, LG, Ocean, SLRN.

As such, I think it is pretty clear it isnt russian bias considering WO, Ocean and SLRN are most definetely not russian, i believe RDNN are a mix and im unsure about LG

Why were there several "strong hull" (RECENTLY BUILT) L'OCEAN in the Savanna Port Battle - where did they get the BP?

They were Ironclads against canvas canoes they were so OP - gamebreaking.

  16. Your xenophobia does you no credit.  Your stereotyping of all who use a Cyrillic alphabet as Russian does you no credit.  If you are done testing this game, you will of course not mind having your El Capitán title brought back into circulation.  The fact that all quarter finalists, British and American-flagged teams included, received vessels, gives the lie to your statement.  Do not mask your envy in hate.

I would strongly urge you to recuse yourself for a period of time until you are able to comport yourself more civilly.

Wow, what a bone headed dude you turn out to be - I simply dislike the Russian clans having unfair advantages "IN GAME" and you trundle out xenophobia? WTF?

Are you saying [RUBLI] are NOT Russian Pirates and that RUSSIAN UNIFIED SAILORS [RUS] are NOT "RUSSIAN" again WTF? ARe you insane?

    ----

I AM RECUSING MYSELF from this "game" so sit down an STFU about xenophobia

And you are more than welcome to the El Capitain moniker - it is tainted by your obtuseness now anyway.

  17. My FEEDBACK:

    Well, between

    - the Russian Pirates [RUBLI] getting "special" ships (Santa Cecilia).

    - the Russian Danes [RUS] getting "Special" ships (Strong Hull L'Ocean).

    - and the removal of any usefulness of screening fleets because the dev's allowing "Log in to port battle" mechanics by Russian [RUS] attackers.

You might as well wipe me RIGHT NOW - I am done testing the "Russians [RUBLI] [RUS] Win" game.

    Good day.

  18.

    Hello Сaptains!

We will abandon the 5 color grades for upgrades and ships. Fine (blue), Mastercraft (purple), Common (green) are not used and thus are useless. Nobody makes them and nobody buys them.

As a result of testing the final ship quality and shipbuilding system will look like this.

    • Captured - captured (grey) will be assigned to all ships captured (except for ships captured from player fleets)
    • Сrafted (yellow) - ships built by players
    • Special - events, rewards, tournament vessels, or maybe extremely rare and hard to craft (months of effort required)

Instead of quality (who would try to make a bad ship) players will select things they want they their ship to have sacrificing other elements if they want to improve one of the characteristics

    Definitely will be done

    • For example if a shipbuilder wants to increase speed it will increase ship cost AND will have to sacrifice the hull quality
    • If they want to have additional slots for upgrades they will have to sacrifice space or increase weight
    • If you take more crew you might need to reduce hold
    • Cannons and ammo and powder supply will affect cargo hold and will reduce ship performance if you overgun it

    Under consideration

    • If you want to take 200 shots per gun instead of normal supply to battle you might need to sacrifice some space (this will solve cases of light ships unloading 10000 rounds in a battle into a first rate)
    • You can determine the number of repair kits you can take for the vessel and affect the weight.
    • Unstable designs - add to much sails (to increase speed) your ship might capsize in some cases
    • Other experimental ideas like 1 durability ships and other changes

Same treatment will be applied to upgrades.

Once this system is coded in all old ships and some upgrades will become unusable due to database changes and will have to be removed from the game.

    discuss

Update to answer some of the questions raised in the topic:

    1. Regional bonuses will remain and NPC ships as well will have them too
    2. Regions and map will not change thus your repositioning to new areas will remain valid
    3. ETA for the changes is somewhere between end december - end january. We will first add land in port battles and some other previously promised things.
    4. Wood types will remain and will affect ships stats, what will change is how the ship general stats and upgrade slots and other elements are determined during crafting, giving more options to a crafter to build the ship just for him (or for his buyers)
    5. The current proposal is a proposal and might change based on what is found during the design stage.

Feedback: Your implementation of this SO FAR blows chunks and gives [RUBLI] an unfair advantage in game.

Explanation of feedback: The three Gold Santa Cecilia's you gave [RUBLI] for winning your tournament are situated right in the sweet spot of Frigate building = too fast for bigger stronger ships to catch - too strong for smaller weaker ships to fight (and win). THEY ARE OP!

IF --- IF you do more of this: Favoring those with great ping and no real world obligations, which is really what it takes to win your tournaments - you will RUIN your own game.

    -----

You are NOT a real world despot who can hand out choice goodies to your pals - you are "selling" a game and if it is not equally difficult for all players to win, it will be getting bad reviews.
