  1. then why doesn't the webpage time change with location of person even youtube changes with your location , al I seen was times on posts and even so an hr or 2 and they have not posted anything still not good , even a shit gamelike eve-online when they had trouble getting server back up they would post immiediatley what was wrong an estimatated time for server back up os if oyu had shit to do you could go and do it.

And I was not complaining of the server being down just that they had not said anything , the least they could do is take 30 secs out and post , and I have been involved was involved in eve-online alpha and they straight on to everything and when that was in alpha everything was f--d , lag was really bad, FPS was shocking but they kept us upto date every step of the way and now its very sweet visual game but game mechanics are not to my liking so after over decade I left, so I would appreciate in future oyu read what I post instead of red what you want to see

  2. No, if you have DX 11 it doesn't automatically mean you have shader 5.0.

@ the original post - Post your graphics card specs, that's what we need. Looks like you have a labtop but try to find out if you have a card or you're running integrated gfx.

Actually, if a card supports dx11 it has SM 5.0.

The issue is when dx11 gets installed when the card only supports dx10.

Its me again. First of all i want to thank you guys for your quick and good answers.

According to this website my intel core i3 bla bla only supports shader model 4.0 so this means i cannot run the game right ?

Sorry, correct.  You have to have a chip that runs dx11/SM 5.0.

  3. $40 at 400 hours in 2 months.  Hmmm....I'm at 10 cents an hour.  I've never played a game as addicting as Naval Action.  The only games that come close for me are Mount and Blade, Morrowind, and Skyrim.

  4. Good lord look at that beak head...

    No thanks.

While I appreciate the fact that the dev team throws it to us to pick which ships will be included into the game, something is becoming painfully obvious.  There will be a preponderance of British and American ships.  Spain, France, Denmark, Sweden, Russia all had pretty nice designs, let alone the Dutch.  All of which at this rate, if the pattern holds, will have very few ships.

Let's look at the current and planned ships. As we will see so far the US has the same amount as France or Russia depending upon if the privateer schooner is American or not (most likely)

    American ships:

    Lynx

    Constitution

    (privateer schooner ?)

    British:

    Victory

    Bellona

    Trincomalee

    Brig

    Ontario

    Centurion

    Cutter

    HMS Pickle

    Brig Navy

    French:

    Surprise/Unite

    La belle poule

    La Renomme

    Spanish

    ST

    Dutch:

    Yacht

    Russian:

    Ingermanland

    Brig Mercury

I assume we will have many more ships added of different nationalities. So far the planned ships for the upcoming year that we didn't get to vote on has added 2 French, 3 British, 2 Russian, and an American ship.

  5. I like the Lynx, but that ad makes me cringe.

"The British knew the prowess of her kind, and respected it"

Yeah, they liked it so much they captured it.

The King Aurthur music was kinda overkill/melodramatic as well, but otherwise really liked the video.  There are some really cool shots of the Lynx, especially towards the end with the clouds in the background.

  6. Why vote for the Independence?  She wasn't a Razee until after the time period of this game, and during this time period she wasn't used in battle at all...the Christian VII or another 2nd rate would be much better.

Vote had to go to Rattlesnake for the sake of being a corvette and a ship smaller than a line ship.

  7. A Leda class frigate could make about 13 knots large and 10 close-hauled, idk where you got 16-17 knots, those are clipper ship types of speeds.

In game it is 16-17kns....The Constitution gets 15.1-15.3

If you give the Rattlesnake the speed Alex suggests it is going to be as slow as the snow and no one is going to sail it.  If in RL a Leda class frigate gets 13, then I would agree with his statement on its speed for being used.  But the Trinc gets 16-17kns at its best angle in game, so then perhaps the Rattlesnake could make 13-15 at its best angle.

  8. Re the discussion on Rattlesnake...

She is rather fine in hullform, 89ft 3in long on deck and 22ft 4in in beam (giving a ratio of 3.99, compared to about 3.70 for a typical frigate). At the same time, those are very small overall dimensions, her resemblance to larger ships is decieving. The Snow (HMS Ontario) is 80ft long and 25ft in beam, and the generic Brig looks to be about 95ft by 30ft, so between them in length but narrower than either.

Given her extremely narrow beam and that this is the biggest limiting factor in armament, Rattlesnake was probably armed with 4 pdrs. Not impossible to have 6 pdrs but they would have been very cramped and difficult to reload, you'd be leaning out the gunport with the rammer because there isn't enough room to run the gun all the way in.

Speed is better news though. Although her small size will mean the top speed (achieved in above average wind strength) might only be something like 11-12kts (compared to 13+ for Trincomalee), as wind speed drops she will lose less speed and will start to match outrun even the quicker frigates.

    The Trincomalee can reach 16-17kn

The Rattlesnake is said to have been unusually fast for her design. Maybe this was only in light winds? However, this is what the website for her replica says.  Not sure if it is to be trusted.  Supposedly the Rattlesnake only had one voyage as an American Privateer and was captured early, so how they would know she was unusually fast I don't know.  We also have to take into account that speed in game does not equal speed in real life.

I was able to find these pages/documents online with information about her:
