I don't really get the safe zones hate.  The only reason players are currently trying to hunt in them is because the game population is so small that capitals are the only place to find players these days.  They're aren't really out there trading because it's not all that lucrative.  They're aren't out there hauling around shipbuilding supplies because the game allows players to do just about everything in the zones.  They aren't crafting out of player owned ports because they cost so much these days and not many of them are worth setting up shop in.

We keep trying to adjust the game to work for the current situation in game, a VERY small player base....rather than tackling the reasons why we have such a small player base to begin.

    So the solution is simple:

Get more players back into the game
    - more casual level content.  stuff that doesn't require 3 hours to do.  Missions.  Randomized events.  Player created escort runs.
    - more variety
    - more involved and detailed crafting and economy (aka something I can't do with just 1 alt)

Incentivize those players to leave the capital areas
    - promote crafting outside of the capitals through taxes, increased chances of getting purp/gold ships....or dare I say  CRAFTING REGIONS?
    - enhance the safe zones around the capitals.  1 ring protects everyone and another protects only traders (or something like that)
    - increase pay out of missions taken outside of capitals
    - increase trading pay output
    - Remove PVP marks as a currency.

Fix these 2 things and PVP will magically fix itself.

I got to say your suggestions are right on point. I would definitely store them in a dev work book. I mentioned this before NA sold 200 000 copies, but for some reason people left. That is almost 99% of customers! . 200 000 customers that can potentially return if the right content is deployed into Naval Action. Are we all that blind? I would run to the nearest bank, get a loan and expand the team who can do the job to make that 200k happy and then sit back and watch money flow into my pocket. Set up captain club, add casual content, premium paints and not only paints. People go nuts about that silly stuff. Did anyone see what happened in sea of thieves? people were throwing money at that game. Did you pay attention what that game have?ship decorations, paint, custom sails, custom avatars, treasure, maps and riddles... I can keep going... $60x2000000-1.2 bil in less than a week... prove me wrong here, but that is where the money are;) , but do not mind me keep working on pvp)) right?

Im a solo hunter with 5500+ hours and I can say both maps are wrong. Second one a bit less wrong than the first but wrong as well.
Right now... there is only activity in capitals, in the free town near the patrol zone, and in a bunch of sanctuaries were some clans think is safe to do some missions and fleets and trading.

For instance: If patrol zone is near aves... Tumbado is empty.

Free Towns used to be trading hubs. Right now traders try to avoid Free town as much as posiible.

You don't get the point. Map Accuracy has nothing to do here. I just represent the general idea of what is happening now.

Can't wait to see that.  Having particular landmarks showing on the map will be greatly appreciated. That's what I used when I was a young sailor and we were approaching the coast, it was also used to re-calibrate the estimated position of the ship (before the satellite navigation took over).

Do we have any landmarks? What are you trying to show on the map?

Even if it did increase traffic, it would be trader traffic, more ganks. More people salty. Still very little pvp

    shameless promotion

Escort, creates pvp. Nation reinforcements dispatch and chase attackers. All this creates action. At least this is better compared to how life is NA atm.

  5. Tax will not increase traffic at least not significantly. Tax is not the best card to play in this scenario. Newcomers and how to make them sail and trade is the main question here. Newcomers will not pvp , but will sail with clan and participate in fleets and later in some pvp action, but only small % and only after some time. Once again, clan influence, daily content and trade are main cards we have to look at.

    thanks for the effort

now suggest something that makes sense so they sail to different spots on the map

Let me think. It's a tough one.

The best one would be open market(all nations listings) and public port goods demand. If Havana needs x,x,x,x,x, goods I can check and deliver them from Americas. Unfortunately I do not have access to their market, so I do not sail.

Once market is made public Nations will see each other required/missing market goods and traders will start their job. Until then there is really no better option to increase OS traffic.

If only the devs would have done what they originally planned to do...

Instead, we got half of what was planned and are left with unfinished ideas (that have further been butchered and band-aided by "hot fixes") for the next 5 months while the game gets transferred over to Unity 5. Its no wonder why 2/3rds of the game population has left again.

I try hard to remain positive about this game (because I really do enjoy playing it), but a PvP-based game needs active players for it to be entertaining. Its easy to say "screw it, ill be back in 5 months" but I really don't want it to come down to that. I hope the developers recognize the issues players are talking about and do something about it before the game turns into a ghost town for another half year.

Logged in yesterday after patch release to see 400 players online. Sad. Imho 400 is a ghost town already when comparing to such a big game world.

  8. Devs, Please for gods sake show rewards in the tutorial window! All new guys will be pressing skip. I never play tutorials in mmos unless I am forced to and always skip if there is nothing offered to me. You just spend time building it and forgot to give it life.

exactly. caravans of gold escudos from belize to KPR. Lets talk about them @Christendom

@adminIntroduce crates, pack gold into crates and use Indiamans. Crates can only fit inside specific ships and not all. Example small traders won't be able to haul that.

Now to make it interesting send out public messages when player with crates leaves port and actually sail for 2 minutes (crate is on OS for 2 mins with distance from starting port increasing ). Do this:

Send out Server messages to all other nations in private without (gold haul fleet) player seeing it -

Mail -Fleet with gold just left American Port and heading SE

Mail -Fleet with gold just left Spanish Port and heading NW

Mail -Fleet with gold just left French Port and heading W
