I think it has obvious, glaring issues. I think the devs don't have a clear, full plan. I think the game is likely to fall flat on it's face.
I already paid my $40 and was well past the 2-hour refund mark by the time I realized it was a bad investment, so I'm enjoying what IS here despite the massive warning signs. Knowing what I know now, I would not let a friend buy the game for that amount of money in it's current state.
It's entirely possible to enjoy something while absolutely not recommending it to others.
Nice one, at least someone is honest here. @admin take note.

Personally to me the most interesting way to fix the speed meta problem (and several others) is to get rid of in-battle repairs and make it so battle instances are joinable for the entire duration of the battle.
You are asking to make game even more hardcore, reps are good as they are and just need fine tune.

But then your solution is to continue to allow stacking mods so we get back to the same unbalanced situation? Then I would have to question why would we want to bother with this final rebalance in the first place? With your solution I think you may wind up defeating the whole purpose of unique ship characteristics that provide the benefit of sailing it.
Why is that? Guy can waste 3 mods and get slightly faster ship, while I can tank and boost reload and penetration and play with him at range with his paper ship. They can grief , but they will never be able to sink you. Also, with all these maneuverability buffs it's great now.
I do agree that right now without penalty stacking mods are OP, but it also fun. ex. my Constitution turns like a frigate now with the right mods. I can 3 broadside a ship without a problem to his 1.

I don't think the brits actually expected us to defend both at the same time. Luckily we had to call in the banners, but we did. This was a kind of a troll fleet from them and while the tactic was interesting, it was a gimmick. They would of been better serviced by bringing in big boy ships and brawling. This was unfortunately how they went about battles while we were still brit and one of the reasons we switched. Sometimes you just gotta duke it out and their unwillingness to do so is continually why they lose fights.
I miss the battles with more of the ARMED guys.
Might need to start rethinking what ships to take for each wind condition. New changes will impact PBs greatly. Read this:

This is what many dont get. Paper ships are well aware of the fact that they cannot fight a proper battle, so they use their insane speed to run from anything close to equal and go pick single targets..
We need to promote less ganking more real fighting
On a siddnote, what if all ships spawned by ship notes for marks are teak teal by default? And add the BPs so you could get a fir one if you really wanted to but then its not getting spammed as much as now.
Admin mentioned this many times, you can't force players to stay and fight. History proves that Captains who did not want to fight even dumped guns and fresh water to gain speed. Oh wait can we get those in game as well?
Also, read what Devs posted in ship re balance. It will get even worse now. Nerfing mods won't help because every ship will have different sail profiles.
If he is great upwind and you are not , mod quantity won't help.
It sounds like you will need to retire from NA and go play Legends if you want battles.

No way. There are more than enough build varieties. This requires better player planning and disallows ridiculous counter-balancing game effects.
I do not think many will be happy.

Personally I like this form better:
Stacking penalty:
1st mod = 100% effect
2nd mod =
50% effectNot Allowed3rd mod =
15% effectNot Allowed4th mod =
0 effectNot Allowedbut you are limiting build varieties and making this game too simple. I should be able to go full speed and use 3 mods with penalties knowing I just wasted 50% effect on 2nd mod and 85% on 3rd mod. I am paper thin with speed and useless in close combat.
-
OS speeds kill this game. Speeds need to go up especially in close haul and into the wind.
-
Why not just have penalty? and keep people entertained with mod varieties.
Stacking penalty on same stats:
1st mod = 100% effect
2nd mod = 50% effect
3rd mod = 15% effect
4th mod = 0 effect

We are getting bad reviews due to lack of information about Naval Action Legends and no updates about UI upcoming patch in NA fuel the fire. You should know from the past that if you do not provide updates people get angry and this is that time. People are upset that NA Legends gets the work done , but NA stuck in endless loop of waiting. Note, that some people don't even know what Naval Action Legend is, why is that? Why there is no clear post from Devs that explains what is going on.
Dear Devs, I understand you are trying to make 2 games, but make sure you are very clear and provide information during this sensitive time. Reassure your customers you are working on 2 products without any delays. This includes screenshots of new UI to show people that you are working hard on NA. Clearly compare 2 games and explain work in a nice clear post. Provide updated road map.
Once again you are ignoring the fact that people already spread the rumor of you abandoning NA and working full time on Legends. This already making your customers angry, so make sure you fix it. The easiest way to fix it is to provide some new updates on NA and prove development of NA is not halted.
Fire has been lit, so try to extinguish it or leave it burning and see NA rating sink. There are many negative posts on Reddit that prove it.
Thanks.

Try to disable - Turbo Boost in CPU, Check throttle temps and force stop it with software.

This game is not new player friendly and requires all players to go through you tube , forums and guides in order to figure out how everything works. This includes hostility movement, port battle schedules and other events. You even have to convert server time in order to figure out when is port battle might happen. Not a single server , mail or other notification is now present in game. Glad your post might shine some light and change Developer view on how to improve this game and make it more 'Action' like, accessible and new player friendly.
-Repairs in-battle vs OW vs port: Since I can't make kits myself (which I'm seriously reconsidering), I rely on drops/purchases.
Keeps players from pvp big time.

I'm talking about how Mortimer/KPR/ETC not US. Removing a few reinforcement zones from certain US coast ports would balance it.
I replied to the picture that you posted. Same story with Mortimer.

Allow me to clarify. I meant that ALL the reinforcement zones are too large. I used the US coast as an example of how the overlap makes ships invulnerable.
Be there anything else wot needs clarification? This is how small zones have to be in order to stop overlapping. Might as well get rid of them?
Admin said all zones are the same, you are asking to go through every zone and manually adjust them? Well good luck with that.

I am suggesting they make reinforcement zone smaller as US is triple the length of others...I bet you are a US player too and enjoy having such a large safe zone compared to all the other nations.
I played for many nations including US and I know what you are trying to do and what impact it will cause. Go hunt other nations or hit distant US ports without overlapping zones. Home waters meant to protect new players. Devs even added 3 more nations for you to enjoy.
What I hear is 'Dear US government please take down your towers, so we can gank your traders. Also your ports have awesome protection and you know we hate you, so please get rid of your defense and let us dictate the rules here'.

Unless we can rewrite historical port locations then it could be fixed, other than that you can't make zones too small as there were towers and forts that protected the coast. Let's agree US coast is well protected from pirates go hunt other nations.
You are suggesting to remove towers and forts and reduce zones? I see what you are trying to do here. Won't happen. Try to gank near distant US capped ports and not home waters.
We should mark this post as #cryformoregank. Even considering your suggestion would drive players away from this game when your gank squads camp populated areas that provide some numbers in NA.

It's easier to add sounds vs draw circles map for each port.
@admintake a look who you let vote in your polls. I hope you guys learned from the past.
-
Add sounds when Entering/Leaving Reinforcement zone. It could be Cheering sound of sailors when you enter Green Zone and 'Beat to Quarters' drum sound when leaving and entering Open sea.
This simple warning sounds will let even new player understand that he is leaving the zone and danger awaits ahead. He now must pay attention and be careful.
Imagine someone is chasing you and you enter the zone and all your sailors start cheering! Simply amazing feeling.
It should be simple to do and it will be very effective. Not only that as we know many people requested visible zones on map, so why no introduce sound warnings instead. It will be much better than zones on map.
I hope Developers will consider this.

To those who are puzzled how to calculate distance. Sail to Puerto de Nipe, measure distance and compare it to land shape. Edge of the zone will match land shape. Use ruler and calculate radius to port (center) x2 = diameter. Use that data for the rest of ports. Easy.

The game is for playing - you can find that by playing. I am sure community chart makers can draw nice reinforcement zones maps and figure out how to make them.
If we do draw them , will you implement them in the game as layers on world map?
-
1 minute ago, admin said:
You can sail to any protected port and point the location where it ends. This radius is the same for all uncapturable ports.
Edge to port (center point) you mean? It's doable then.
-
2 minutes ago, admin said:
the center point is and uncapturable port and every uncapturable port has an equal reinforcement zone around it. it does not matter if it is a capital or not.
some nations have a lot of ports, some two, some none.maybe you can draw it? i am sure the community will appreciate
Can you provide us some rough picture and I will be glad to draw it.
Increasing Ship Visuals while making Devs Money

Not only ship visuals, overall game design and interface needs face lift in order to attract more players. Their marketing is weak.
