  1. In game chat? Clans? What is this you speak of?
  2. I'm beating a dead horse, but this battle is extremely tough. There is A LOT of ground to cover.
  3. True. Im playing as CSA and captured Chancellor Farm on Day 2 and still had to play day 3. Why?
  4. My one bad comment on the game is that I capture everything on the 1st day of a two day battle or the 2nd day of a 3 day battle and I still have to play the next day!
  5. I agree that would be nice. I mentioned something about this an a post I created called "Grand Union Victory". I would like to see something where the actual battle was played out by AI. This could be used as a teaching tool.
  6. I agree they are getting cautious, and especially cautious in the minor engagements. At times, they don't even attack and there is less than 1k casualties combined for both sides. This is great for me because I get troops out of the deal, but so do they. Very interesting.
  7. I'm sure this has been said, but giving the AI a pool a troops that I can deplete every battle is freaking awesome. I'm playing on BG as the CSA, and it makes battle like Antietam not so hard. Went it with about 78k troops against a 66k troop Army of the Potomac. They left with 31k casualties to my 14K. It was awesome.
  8. More smoke on the field would be way cool. However, I'm not complaining that it's not there.
  9. These comments are a bit shocking. This is seriously a fantastic tactical game. Don't let this one little thing ruin the game for you, please.
  10. Just finished the entire campaign for the first time. Wow... Let me say, what an absolute great game. The thing I like most about it is that this game will never get old. I can see myself playing and enjoying this game for a very long time. Also, being able to control the amount of troops the enemy has by causing high casualties might be the greatest thing added to this game. It adds a whole new dynamic to it, and I love it. Thanks to the folks who work on developing and testing this game. It gives an young high school history teacher something fun to do during his spare time. I'm really thinking about starting a video thread of a campaign just to get feedback on my gameplay and hear your thoughts. My only fear is being "that guy" who post stuff that no one wants to look at. Something that I dream of is something made on this sort of platform that I can just press play and show to my classes. Like a simulated battle with correct order of battle for both sides, and one that is controlled by AI that accurately depicts how the battle went down. Probably wont happen for a while, but the Civil War shown on this platform could do a great deal of help when it comes to educating students and getting them interested in this great time of our country. God bless... HOOAH!
  11. Notice I didn't give him much credit in making our country great.
  12. The United States of America is the greatest country in the world. This is true because of the liberties and freedoms of its citizens. These liberties and freedoms are not created and protected by pieces of paper signed in Washington, or executive orders given out from the White House. They are protected by young men in women who have given their lives in the line of battle. These liberties and freedoms are protected at Lexington & Concord, Gettysburg, The Western Front, Normandy and Iwo Jima, The Middle East, and by names on head stones at Arlington National Cemetery and military cemeteries all over the country. God Bless all the men and women who have given their lives for this country. God Bless the United States of America.
  13. These are all really great pieces.
  14. First off, long time no see! We just finished track at the high school I work at so I have been pretty busy with that. This is an off the wall topic, but one I enjoy. What is everyone's favorite piece of Civil War Art? My personal favorite at the moment is "High Water Mark" by Don Troiani. I love everything about it from the actual painting to to story behind it. The leadership Gen. Armistead showed leading his brigade into the Union line at Gettyburg is amazing. Also, the fact that some say this is the where the South almost won the war is something I find very interesting.
  15. Really? I'm enjoying it so far. I'm a fan of his work. I like it because it's the war in one book under 1000 pages. Rather than 3 volumes and 5000 pages.
  16. Anyone reading or have read some good civil war books? I apologize for bringing up books in a game board, but I love reading this topic. I'm currently tackling James McPherson's Battle Cry of Freedom. I own several McPherson books, and they are solid.
  17. That is a good idea. It's just troublesome when you send a division into battle and half way through you lose a Major General and you can really tell how or where.
  18. I have a few times, and I agree that it would be difficult. Just a thought to keep the field organized. I just don't like it when I have all of 1st division over here and the game send a brigade to another spot on the map.
  19. Hello, all! Major Grigg, here. I'm a high school history teacher and army brat, hence the name and emblem. I am relatively new to the game, and brand new to the board. What are your opinions and ideas of having divisional commanders on the field like corps commanders? For me it would be nice to relocate them so they don't get killed so easily.
  20. Yes, the American-Mexican War would be epic. Just covered that in my world history class not too long ago!
  21. I definitely fall under the category of casually playing while drinking a beer or 10. Colonel is the way to go.
