  1. My first magic moments happened back when we didn't have a GPS on the map.

    1) When you first sight land on your first deep sea voyage (ie traveling by dead reckoning out of sight of land and hoping you got it right!)

    2) I got lost in a particularly bad storm around the southern Antilles; during the storm I ran into an island and the visibility was so low I decided it best to drop sails and ride out the storm next to it rather than blundering on and getting hopelessly lost.

You got a list of these?  I haven't found anything left on testbed worth testing in small groups anymore.

The one hard blocker is that they stated they won't go live without some form of nation transfer, and that's not yet available on testbed.

Other than that I can think of a number of things that (in my option) they should do before pushing to live, such as removal/rework/publishing the ship progression tree, fixing the bug where you need to log in/out to see shop/captain chest contents, bringing equality to the use of magical teleportation, etc.

While it is true what you bring, the fellows did jump the ball and did the specifically same with 160ms as they do normally with 40. *shrugs*

Anyway, just a sidenote, many EU fellows play on PvP2, let's not fall into generalization, they know exactly what is to play with US ping.

I think every aussie player in this will probably disagree with you that ping does not matter.

    Looks powerful.

Let me link you an article (in spanish, hope google translator could do the trick) showing how Carlos Parrilla Penagos did one of his paintings.

Maybe something could be useful for you.

thx, google translate did a good enough job.  i have the same general approach, but the key bit in there is that he paint with acrylics while i'm doing wet-on-wet oils. still there were some interesting bits I'll try to incorporate in my techniques.

  5. it does not cost marks to change the knowledge slots on your ships, you can change and adjust these at will.  it does takes marks to reset your captain perks.  permanent upgrades (like the figureheads) cannot be changed unless you destroy one.

the number of marks dropped in battle are relational to the ship you defeat. so, for example, defeating a connie in pvp gave me 3 pvp marks.  pve marks are similar.

when training your ship knowledge slots, doing pvp kills have a multiplier over pve kills; i skilled up the first three slots on my surprise after 3-4 pvp kills if I recall right.

I dont need equal fights...  I need people who use AI as fail-safe bot sail-shredders to think before they call other people care-bears...

sounds like the devs are right, everything will be better when global chat and between nation communication is gone.

Doesn't make any sense at all to have controllable AI on a ***PVP*** server. If PvPers wanted ro fight AI we would be on the PVE server.

if you're on the OW then you fight what comes at you or you run. the devs have stated this is now an MMO, and there are plenty of MMO examples that have mixed PvE and PvP models.

No way! Must keep TP between nation outposts! I'm a US player and lets say we take Key Largo and I set up an outpost there, now I can run and look for trouble off of Cuba pretty easily. But I'm finding nothing going on off of Cuba, but the US has taken Raggen Clay, I can then teleport to that Outpost and look for all sorts of trouble.

And why are you so special you should get TPs while national privateers and pirates who need to operate out of a free port to reach enemy players cannot?  Either remove all of the TPs and commit to everyone needing to sail on the OW or allow TP'ing to free ports.

  9. I don't see the big deal leaving NPC ships to be similar quality to player ships.

    1. There is only limited selection of NPC ships in the shop (i.e. Easily available ships) so player's can craft all other ships without NPC competition.

    2. Sailing for hours trying to capture just the right ship on the OW should more than justify buying a specific configuration of ship from player.

    3. Given the new economy, player crafters will have more things to craft for profit than just ships. (Reduced need for player ships to be sole source of income)

Maybe some bright minds can think of an adequate and effective way of getting this done? It's been at the back of my mind all this time but I've found no way of doing it properly.

maybe you could test relative speeds over distance in the OW, instead of trying to compare absolute speeds.  so start two ships same spot and have them travel same distance and compare travel time.  this should provide you with a data sample of something like "LGV is 1.2x faster than same frigate in OW".  Then you can compare to battle instance speeds which can be gotten in absolute, and you'd end up with something like "LGV is 0.8x slower then same frigate in battle instance".  The only tricky part will be changing OW wind and ensuring same distance traveled, would be easiest with 2 accounts and side-by-side computers.
