No Joy with Steamlink, but as an RD client it works amazingly well as I was logging in with my smartphone.

I'll check out SteamLink and keep you posted.  Thanks for the suggestions.

I agree.  Simply binding some keys for camera movement would be helpful.

  3. I occasionally travel for work, as I was yesterday and I thought I'd remote in to my PC and run a few trade/cargo missions over the hotel wifi.  I've discovered that I can't right click and pan my mouse in the open world when I'm connected remotely.  I've observed this using Teamviewer, Remote Desktop, VNC, and even Google Remote Desktop.  I can however pan to change my camera in port, and right-click drag the mouse in the Open World map, but not when sitting in my ship on the seas.  Thinking there was an issue with my laptop, I used a colleague's laptop with the same result.

Has anyone else experienced this or have a solution?  Seems a weird bug or maybe something intentional?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Its one thing to win a War but crushing a Nation completly will do this Game no good, i know some people disagree with that but the fact is alot of players quit before even experiencing the Game to its full content.

I salute the dutch for being reasonable in that extent and hope the same applies to Russia and to lesser extrend Spain and Brits. I really dont understand this whole mentality to kick people while they are down. Its a Game we all want to do PvP.

I never really understood that mentality either.  But then again, 2 years later after getting mapped twice in EA here I am taking another spin.  I'm not sure how the devs intend to promote new players and power changes once the map is "set."  Maybe seasons?

You wanna spend some time and voice your opinion on what you don't like about the game then it's a good time. Devs listen. You wanna make the game more interesting as a community then do it. Remember this is a sandbox style MMO. You wanna let your epeen be shown then organize a pvp tourney. You wanna organize a race around the carribean then do it. You got the wealth to give players a good treasure hunt then do it. If you really want to improve player retention in this game then that's some examples of how to do it from our side. The devs will take care of the rest.

What?!  You actually want a community of players to make THEIR community better?!?!  That's insane. How dare you print such radical notions. I bet you expect players to hold themselves accountable and be respectful to their peers also . . . Games are only fun when players: undermine eachother, trash talk everyone, gloat about their combat prowess, are generally condescending, are racially insensitive, and encouraging of their mates to leave their nation as a solution to conflict.  Everyone knows toxicity and flagrant egoes keeps games going, indefinitely.

Where did DICS get their sailing lessons...Pirates?  Hope they have a lot more ships.

Well, as most of the ships were purchased from port when we heard there were French nearby, it wasn't that big a deal.  Gloat all you want, you earned the right to it, but it was still a good opportunity to give some players who've otherwise never seen PVP their first glimpses of it.  Not having anything big enough to crack the armor on those Bellonas kept the engagement French favourable from the get go, nevermind the bad tags and pursuits.  Oddly enough, my Rattlesnake made it home which was glorious. ;)

Russia is big, but if the Chinese can connect to the US servers and play I imagine the ping for most of Russia being no more than 100ms different.

Sorry but signals over the internet travel at nearly the speed of light.  There is some delay as it goes through different data hubs, but those are often in the ns range.    Unless someone has a really bad internet connection and are dropping packets, well that is on their ISP not on the server location.   They would have the same problems on the EU server.

They would have the same problems everywhere, doing everything with the internet. Moreover, a server merge likely doesn't require a relocation of the server farm.  But as I said, London to Sydney seems pretty quick for other games.

Majority of the reviews basically say the game doesn't have content.  More players = More content.

Remember, port timers are going away.  This is a new system, or soon to be a new one.  It's time to test it fully with as many players possible.  If 2 servers are necessary, than so be it.  It needs to be tested first.

You make a good point, but to be contrarian, 3 or more servers could potentially allow for more testing than 1 or 2 servers would; despite the anorexic population density our devs enjoy us testing within. Or maybe not, if slimmed populations slows testing . . . I'd hate to be a dev for this thing.  On a side note, allowing reviews of Alpha games seems silly to me. We've already seen angry players tank reviews in retaliation to disciplinary action.

    No.

I wanted a unified server to work all along, but as it happened the server split was the best thing to happen to this game for a long time. And with the current server architecture, no matter where you put it - US or EU - a single server would make the game simply inaccessible to some players. 500 ping is alright for this game. 1500 ping minimum and with instability is not. I know that OP doesn't care that some player just have to "bite the bullet and not be able to play", but there should be servers so that players from all over the world that wants to play this game can reasonably do so.

Then how does CCP do it? I would guess 500-1500 ping is the exception, not the norm. Maybe move the hive to London with a merge? Seems to me Aussies and Pacific players play EVE just fine.

Next time you get ganked by 6 or 7 guys make sure you say thank you and good fight at the end. If me and some clan mates go out in big ships, nobody will attack us EVER. Gank squads only pick fights with no risk. That takes a lot of skill

Planned attacks by good thinking captains should always choose an engagement where they set the advantage, preferably before the battle starts. The old phrase 'there is safety in numbers' rings loudly true in this game and others like it.  If you're not getting 'ganked' when you have an escort, get an escort more often. Some smart traders, assuming that's the soul target of ganks, share trade profits for potential escorts.  Hell, some of us will escort traders just for the sake of possible action without fee.  AND some of us who like PVP will intentionally bait enemies by sailing trade vessels with our mates in tow or nearby in waiting.

You dont like a challenge in an outnumbered battle? A little disappointing

Looking at your recent 'Surprise Video'  I would argue if you were targeted, while being outnumbered and if your opponents were successful, I could see that being considered a gank.  So what is it when you counter a gank with better tactics and sailing?  Counter-Gank seems simple, but let's brainstorm a little.

On 8/1/2017 at 10:53 AM, Simon Cadete said:

I started this thread not just because ganks happen but because that's how a lot of players play the game. Add defensive tags, tagging ai fleets and then leave the battle or staying in a battle waiting for someone to tell you to pop out and attack someone that's going by close to the battle instance just make this whole play style detrimental to the overall experience in the game.

Maybe this is how it is and it will never change. In that case we'll, Legends will come out at some point

But, these tactics are present in most EVERY PVP game, especially open world sandbox ones. Legends will be instant action and likely have a far less risk vs. reward model.  For some reason I imagine tall sailing meets world of warships.  Doesn't take a lot of coordination to queue up in any instant action environment, and for me personally can get boring.  I guess I like conquest and roleplaying socio-economic political stuffs a little more than that.

After reading through this post again, I would say there were 7 or 8 different idea's on what ganking is. You can't fix something that can't be defined.

Add needing a trendy name for counter-ganking to the list.

  11. I totally agree. I wonder what that would take?  It's hard to conduct naval actions with a server that seems to have about 100-200 players online most of the time.  As it is, with the 10.0 patch, there were basically empty nations out of the box.  Please forgive me Dave as I'm talking about Spain.  I know Chuck Norris is afraid of you so I'll tread lightly for concern of reprisal.

It is not a trick or ego-saving device to say we don't care if the Danes take our ports.

I'm saying it because it's possibly a problem with the game. We really do not care. We have no reason to care.

Pirates presumably want us to spend the next 2 weeks grinding PvE in another night-flip contest with the Danes and we're just warning you that we're not going to do it, because it is dumb. It was done last time because frankly we had some outdated thinking still and had not played in over a year. I am tempted to flip Road Town again but only because I know it will make CCCP angry. That is literally the only reason I would do it.

Now that we have fully tasted the free port life style, we prefer it to the PvE grind port-flipping lifestyle. We will keep doing what we are doing. I hope the Danes do not bore their new players out of the game with a contest we do not care about, is all. Believe it or not, I hope AUSEZ and the rest do not quit the game, but they are going to need to consider what fun they are going to have over the next month and how they are going to find it.

I don't think avoiding OW combat and PvE flipping empty ports is going to keep them interested in the game but I'm not their momma.

The 'new' system makes PBs pretty worthless as nothing more than trade/sales hubs and places for tactical deployment.  Although if PBs were deathmatches . . .  think of the marks possibilities.

  13. I'm not throwing insults. I was a diplo and had access to multiple conversations in diplomatic and leadership capacities where on more than one occasion different members from French clans straight insisted/asked ICS to leave France.  So either you're ill-informed or grandstanding here for the sake of blind defense. I'll reserve comment about your ability to read forums for 18 months.

I play solo with the guys you are accusing of this.  None of the players interacting in this thread have agitated me or driven me from the nation.  No sure what you are talking about, in fact, do you know?  Because it's not happening.

LOL, then you should probably catch up on your reading or scroll some history back on the French National Discord.

Once you grasp what motivates the French the strategy is very simple. We want OW PVP. We will do whatever we can to generate OW pvp, hell we don't even need to win. We just want as much OW pvp as we can get from the time we log in until the time we all go to bed.

We keep telling people what we are looking for and people just refuse to grasp how France wants to play the game.

French Strategy: Agitate your neighbors, their neighbors, and your nationals so they become your neighbors so you can attack them/everyone at the same time while pushing players from your country; then be proud to sink traders far away from home, and denounce PBs which require coordination and 25 players as opposed to swarming, hit, and flee tactics.

I'm fairly certain most the server gets your 'strategy.'

    I think it's great.
