to look at the fact that you seem to consider all these aspect of the game only with the eye of a player whose main activity is OS PVP.

And you forgot the opportunity to let us know the argument behind your worthy opinion. Dunque finiscila lì che è meglio!

Uuuuuuh.... did you miss the part in the server's title where it says "PVP"? Sounds like you need to be on the pve server.

On the side note about pirates... We've been promised to get raids... That was a promise from 2016, then beginning of 2017... Still nothing. What Pirate nation is at the moment? Same nation like all others? With mmmm... limited crafting, limited conquest, more risk of everything with outlaws. A handicapped, retarded nation with limits and no benefits for being a pirate... besides outlaws if some consider it as benefit, but it only fits for certain group of players, me as well, but it provides everyone else with huge risk.

Stop thinking of pirates as a nation that gets everything the other nations do. Pirate play should be hard, unforgiving, dangerous work. It should be pro mode. I agree on the raids, it's a thing that must happen.

Is 15/05 still is wipe official date?

Highly, highly doubt it. Tell yourself middle of July to avoid disappointment. The devs are working hard on making sure this goes off without a hitch or at least as few hitches as possible, because they know post wipe player comebacks to check out the game will be their last real chance at making this game succeed. They must choose their shot placement very carefully, because they only really have one shot left.

In the future, it would be less aggravating and less stressful for all of us if you Devs say what you mean and mean what you say. I cannot write that in Russian, unfortunately. When you say the 15th May, stick to that date, even if it means other things won't be included in the game; you can make improvements after. When you say, you will give us these four ships, stick to those four ships. I assure you it will be a great relief for all of us, including yourselves.

are you hello kittying kidding me?

No.... you. I will gladly spend the time to go gather those mats from my farms after a few days, craft 500 medkits, and sell them to your lazy ass for a ridiculous fee. Just because YOU see it as a waste of time, some others don't. Some of us actually ENJOY trading, gathering mats, making items and selling them to other players. I know several captains who have never engaged in PVP outside of being caught in OW in their traders.

Turn alot of players off ? Ha, funniest thing ive heard ever. You have about 100 players left on all servers WITH your precious teleports in the game. Where are the "lots" of people who will leave?

Before teleports the servers where jammed to the point of ques to log in, after the devs listened to a few squeeky wheels and gave us teleport machines, massive amounts of players in game and here complained it ruined strategy and was killing fun for them and they quit in mass numbers and the population never recovered.

Im not going to rehash the fact that NOBODY is forcing anyone to sail the whole hello kittying ocean when they play because its obviously a concept to deep for some people to grasp but i know for a fact the fast travel did more damage to player numbers and smaller factions than anything else.

One pirate clan on my server ,BLACK, are or where the perfect example of why teleport killed the game. They where smart and had players who understood how to use strategy.  With no more than about 20 guys on at a time they managed to basically conquer the server at will, wage wars in every direction at all times and crush the two major powers outa the server. It was the damn funniest thing to watch the brits and yanks crying in forums and in game that " to many pirates are allowed" or thateveryone was a pirate hahaha. They never could grasp the concept of what 20 guys did so they just quit.

I know at least one guy from BLACK is still on the forums and could probably collaborate the facts but if not the numbers just dont lie.

    No teleports =lots of players

    Teleports =no players.

Right on the money, brother Doomed. Good to see you still hanging on.

This the way I see it, I hardly ever get sunk unless I"m knee deep in PvP than it happens.  So you can go a good bit without needing a new ship.  The problem I had on test when I ops on purpose doing a 7 vs 1 against AI in a frigate (5 and 6 rates in fight).  I killed 3 and was working on the 4th when they got me.  I was like ok let me buy a new ship, did that and than went to get guns.  20K for the Cerbuas but 120K for the cannons.....uh what?  Yah that part I didn't like but now that we can craft them it's not that bad.  We can't be as cocky as we can with the current ship mechanics knowing you only have one dura.  Defiantly will need to take your time and get a small fleet and back up money built up.

I'm running three chars and I all ready built a Surprise and Trinc and can build another ship if I want if I got more stone blocks to port.   So a small clan with 5-10 guys can get thigns going pretty quick.  SOL's are still going to take some time and they should.

Just a warning this patch that came out today is buggy as hell, wait until they hotfix if ti you get the free time.  Right now every thing can't move on the OW cause of the cargo OW speed changes.

Sounds like the devs have made a design decision.... fear of death. People will of course whine when opponents run as soon as the tide goes against them, but I hope the devs stand their ground on this one. It makes each ship you have very unique and valuable. With the way they sail in battle and whatnot, 1 dura will bring life to these ships, each vastly different... really breathes life into them. I am very happy about that...and dreading the rage and heartache the first time I watch a prized ship go to the bottom. The way it should be... well done there, devs! And thanks for the insight, Tex.

@admin In an earlier post you mention that materials may be wiped as well as ships. If that is going to happen then why did you say in the opening post that we should stockpile materials? Confused here!

Also, will it really be all materials or just some? Will a basic material such as a live oak log (for example) really have its data structure changed and therefore need to be wiped? Seeking clarification.

It seems to me that if we are to lose our materials stockpiles & redeemables,  as well as ships, that there is not much point in playing for the next 6 weeks unless one is bent on multiple suicide fights to lose one's ships and/or just build up one's gold account (but I see that gold may be wiped too so that's a bust) and/or build up XP (if you need to).

I am not criticising the idea of wiping materials etc. as well as the ships, as such, I am just looking to understand what is going to happen to allow me to consider the possible implications and my options.

I think that is why they are saying only ship/upgrade wipe. That way, people still have a reason to play atm, which would be doing econ/port battles to get into good position for the wipe.

  9. Devs - I am blown away.

Out of the dark, you guys come up with probably the greatest announcement ever. THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FROM DAY ONE. One dura ships... it makes them super unique, valuable, beloved. Upgrades going away.... YES. Just... wow. Guys I am so super happy and excited for the first time in a year. GREAT job. You obviously listened to the community. Get this thing out as soon as you can... we need to turn around the negative reviews on steam. This is  GREAT and MASSIVE step in that direction, this patch puts the game more into simulator territory than mindless COD territory. THANK YOU.

What is wrong with the Pirate Perk?  Just checking cause I use it some times when I'm switching ships a lot and don't want to set Frig/Line/Light Shipmaster over and over.

I really like to see the land, but if it's still giving them trouble or taking time than keep pushing that part back and put out the other content.  I don't even mind content taking time, but the issue is they implemented mechanics that aren't working and pushing players away.  They need to do hot fix's for those items and in a timely manor.  We are here to play test things to get them to work.  If they don't respond to that feed back in a timely manor than folks aren't going to want to play test the broken or bad systems and will just go do other things.  That is what I'm doing.  No one is out PvPing, most of my clan isn't even logging on any more.   You got one nation pushing every one around.   I mean where was they when we where attacking them?  No where to be found but now that we aren't aggressive and active they are at our door step.  People aren't playing cause there are issues with the current mechanics.   Do little tweeks and let us give you feed back.  Don't fix it and wait weeks or months to add it in the next patch of content.

The way I see it the sooner we get National Conquest stuff worked out and going smoothly the sooner they can get onto other things.  LIKE PIRATE MECHANICS.   But them taking months to tweek stuff and come out with new content this game is never going to make Beta by the end of the year or even live by the end of next year.   The game will get passed on by some other game that has some what same concept but better graphics and mechanics.

Oh and as for bad reviews I'll keep to no review at all for now.  I understand this is an EA Alpha testing and there is going to be some up and downs.

Pirate perk costs 6 points and gives half a knot speed boost. or, you can run frigate/light/lineship master for 5 points, which gives half a knot and a reload bonus

I know it's a small team but I kinda agree that some of the issues they could of done hot fix's for instead of waiting for the next month patch or months to fix them.  I think mulit small patches are kinda better than waiting for ever for one big patch.  It allows us to play test those things more so they can tweek them faster to get them more fine tuned.

Considering the coming patch isn't even big, I have to agree with you. The coming patchs adds.... events and land in PB's. Wooooo. Sooooo excited. No mention of fixing the broken Pirate perk, no mention of fixing the speeds of ships to be back to more historical thanks to the whiners.... yeeeeah. Damn, I wish I could still request a refund. I guess chalk me up to one of those 1000+ hour "losers" that will leave a negative review.

I really, really, really hope that we see perk points solidified (so people can't just keep resetting.  Maybe just a 1 day cooldown, at least), and a perk point cost for having AI ships in your fleet.

I think, THINK .... I read somewhere they only removed the 3 point deduction penalty on resetting your officer for alpha/testing phase. On release, I imagine we will see point penalties again for resetting your officer.

  13. Werwolf here -

James, what a fantastic way with words you have! I think it captures perfectly the events leading up to the battle, and the battle itself. I am amazed. It is interesting to read this to me because I can fill in the blanks for you and make you go ahHA! So that's what he was doing! Just as reading this has done for me. So here, my friend, is my side of the story to add to your half.

After priming ourselves with ample spirits, we cast off from Sunbury in one of my favorite ships in my inventory...the "Gudfarr", a Renomee that is Fir, with extra crew space and Speed mods. It may also have a few other sundry perm mods done to her, yarrr... anyways, after leaving port, I noticed two other pirate ships ahead of me. An Ingermanland, and a Renommee with another Reno as fleet. They were obviously headed out to, errrr, reassign cargo and war materiel from our common enemies to our own stocks... so I fell in and joined the group. We sailed for what seemed like 10 minutes or so, and spotted sails on the horizon.... BIG ones. Hoping they weren't too large of a force, my hopes were soon dashed as the horizon fell away to reveal a small flotilla of decent sized warships, sailing straight for us. We had come knocking, and Uncle Sam answered. Surprised at the stiff response, we elected to turn and flee. At one point, I turned the Gudfarr around to scout the situation.... and soon saw the entire flotilla still chasing. So we booked it the rest of the way to Sunbury as fast as we could sail. Around Beaufort, I sailed past a US Renommee who did not attempt to engage, so I continued to run.

Reaching Sunbury safely, I decided why not... these guys are obviously spoiling for a fight, let's party. The largest ship I had in Sunbury at that point was my Constitution, which is..... awaiting modifications before deployment... heehee... so, I took out my trusty Belle Poule to scout the situation while waiting to teleport to Mortimer Town, where I had my Bucentaure laid up. Sure enough, there they were... a whole forest of masts sitting in a group on the horizon. They definitely came for a fight, and were waiting at a respectable distance to see what we would come back out with. My teleport timer went unmolested, and so I then in turn teleported my 1 Dura Bucentaure to Sunbury, where she would be sacrificed to Davy Jones in honor and glory, the only way a Pirate ship should go... amidst cannon fire and rolling banks of gunsmoke. Not to mention we were guaranteed a hot time of it, judging by the US fleet assembled outside Sunbury, so she wouldn't go down without a fight.

I pushed off from Sunbury in my Buc, assuming she'd never see the docks again, destined to shortly be at the bottom of the Atlantic. But just like those enemy captains, I too was thirsting for battle. I came out just in time to see tons of US ships sailing past my bows... so I set full sail, and went right into the middle of them. Amidst the tagging process, two others got tagged in with me or joined shortly thereafter. Again a totally unplanned event, they just showed up and helped out. It was at this time that I began to take stock of what we were up against. A Bellona, Connie, and an Essex. I smiled, knowing we slightly outgunned them and that I had two veteran sailors backing me up. I took the fortunate odds as a good sign, and pressed the Bucentaure into full sails, fully expecting the enemy ships to turn and run. The Constitution and Essex were making to cross the T, but not running... surely, I thought, the Bellona will run though. I turned to my right just in time to see shot fly past my head, and to my amazement the Bellona was making full sails, straight at my Bucentaure. This captain would have battle, and had obviously commited to the fight as the Constitution and Essex had. Alright, I thought, we're in for a fight here! Truly though, I wasn't worried, as I gazed around at the mountain of a ship that I was currently commanding.

What happened next was amazing, depressing, hilarious and scary all at the same time. The Bellona tore into me like a hawk hitting a rabbit in a full dive on the desert prairie, and in short order I had lost most of my starboard armor, all of my stern armor, and well over 70% of my crew. I had constant leaks springing up from the relentless broadsides of the Bellona, the captain of which skillfully maneuvered his ship in such a fashion as to wreak all of this damage singlehandedly, aside from some potshots at my sails from the Constitution and Essex who had their hands full with my two fellow pirates who were skillfully and bravely engaging them, allowing me to focus completely on the Bellona (or him on me, apparently...)

At one point I had 120 of my 150 or so remaining crew (out of an original 800) in Survival, attempting to patch leaks, put out a small fire started in the starboard gun deck, and bail out an existing amount of water amounting to about 20% of the gauge.Even after fixing the leaks, I still had a permaneant influx of water from most likely the stern, and 50 of the crew had to stay on survival in order to keep the ship afloat. Thank goodness for Extra Pumps! Though at this point, it seemed to be an exercise in futility as the Bellona bored in for the killing shots. As I quietly prayed to RNGesus for the souls of the dead strewn across the deck, I begged for forgiveness and mercy for my fellow captains, who were still taking the fight to the smaller enemy ships. Mysteriously and suddenly, the Bellona veered away on a hard rudder move, and I saw my chance.. I made my escape with what can only be described as my tail between my legs, having taken a severe beating from a 3rd rate vessel, and barely escaping with my life and my ship.

I could only look in horror and amazement at what was left of a once proud and mighty vessel... now burnt and twisted, scarred and battered with holes and busted wood everywhere. The sails stayed relatively intact through the whole fight, and I repaired them the rest of the way as we headed for the small window of escape opportunity. I limped back the short distance to Sunbury, and gave a massive sigh of relief as we tied up at the docks next to the old familiar tavern. I don't know how, I don't know why, but RNGesus had elected to spare me the final humiliation of being sent to the bottom. I was in total amazement at how tough the bellona was, my carronade shot bouncing off her hull at close range. I must salute all three of the US captains in this battle, but a special salute to James and his old Bellona. It was truly a great fight, and my hat is off to the abilities of all three of you. Keep an eye to your stern for a black flag, for repairs won't take long on both my ship and my ego.... haha! One of my favorites in this game will forever be during this battle... I was exclaiming out loud "wow, my armor is gone...!"  *Bellona broadsides upper deck* GREAT, 14 leaks!!  *Bellona broadsides gun deck* JESUS CHRIST IM ON FIRE NOW *Bellona fires a single shot, destroying rudder*  I HATE THIS STUPID GAME!!  All of this was exclaimed very loudly, and happened within about 20 seconds. LOL... good times!!!  I look forward to the next one!
