LOL I run a i5 Sandybridge CPU and a 760GTX Nvidia GPU with 8gb DDR ram.. and I get 20-40FPS in a 25v25 port battle.  On HIGH settings.  1400x900 resolution.

So I have no idea what your GPU is doing but you may want to look at heat and RAM usage.

Ultra settings @1440p 144hz, with a custom watercooled build and a GTX 1080 (EK) waterblock. If you are remotely thinking 25v25 is playable good for you. So you are denying the most commonly experienced problem of shots not appearing on screen, fps lag and stutters ? You are probably running on 60Hz too, try running 100fps in OW, then entering a PB and achieving 20fps, it feels like 5 and it makes you laugh at how pathetic the game is.

OW GPU runs at 40C max load, enter a PB, usage drops to 25% and CPU usage just lingers and does jack all. 1400x900 = CPU bound you will get better FPS, but seriously, who runs games at poverty levels of resolution ?

  2. Delayed ? No way ???

Devs have you also optimized 25v25 for i7's and multi-core utilization for the CPU ? Or is this upcoming patch about "content" because seriously, you need to fix the terrible fps problems...

Good luck with the ship change! I do hope we get a population return in 2 weeks, let's hope everyone comes back and plays!

A bit dissapointed it is delayed, but not surprised.

    Good luck!

Do you really believe that "everyone" will come back ??? I estimate when this patch arrives, half the player base would have disbanded based on current pops I see. PvP Two today (when I logged on) was 29, when it is usually 120...

  3. We are absolutely overwhelmed with 5th rate ships. Please give more attention to ships of the line. I.e. 3rd rates, 2nd rates and 1st rates please !!!

    Reasons:

There is essentially 1 3rd rate. The 3rd rate is a Bellona and a Bellona is a 3rd rate. Same ship essentially so we only really have 1 to choose from. No variation there.

2nd rates, let's face it almost everyone will choose the Buc over a pavel. Hardly any variation.

1st rates. Good variation in terms of ship characteristics across 3 ships, but just not enough choices to choose from. And this assumes you have the L'Ocean BP, so as a realistic case scenario you have the option for 2 ships to craft or sail.

So after the Devs revealed they're thinking about taking 1st rates out of the game for some time, me and some others put a lot of thoughts into the whys and hows.

I'm aware that most players love their hard achieved 1st rates and that some are very concerned about seeing them taken from them. The following is a suggestion how to make a change without killing half the playerbase.

Problem with 1st rates is, that they are easy to achieve once you get your hands on them. Within a couple of days your friends get them, because you help them cap or just craft. Within a couple of some more days your whole clan get them and finally everyone gets a 1st rate. I don't think flooding 1st rates all over the world is how it should be. 1st rates should set the point after a long and hard career. They are the price for spending lots of time ingame.

1st rates need to be rare and harder to achieve.

    That's how it works:

    1. 1st rates are no longer craftable (done)

    2. 1st rates are no longer sold in shops, neither by NPC nor Players

    3. 1st rates can not be capped.

That's the basics. So now, how to achieve one?

Every player gets a special dock slot. It's the only one they can put a 1st rate in. This slot is bought with the shortly announced admiralty points, by special admiralty missions or is just a rng drop by admiralty. Once you have the slot, you can achieve BPs for 1st rates the same way you achieved the slot. Now that you have a BP you can craft your 1st rate. If you don't like that one you can achieve more BPs till you find your favorite and break the old one up. You can't sell it or give it to anyone, it's yours and bound to your account. The only way to get 'rid' of it ist to either break it up or sink it in battle.

That's where the critic part sits. You're 1st rate can't be captured, but lost in a boarding fight anyway or just sink in battle. Well, no problem just craft a new one? Nope. Someone sunk your 1st rate! You can't just 'craft a new one'! It's for the best Navy Men only. You are not, otherwise it would be still afloat. No one sane would presume you anymore to sail a 1st rate.

That means: you loose your slot, your BPs and your honor. Start from the beginning. Achieve the slot, the BPs and after that you craft a new one.

Now, 1st rates are rare. Just the way they should be. It's a honor to be allowed to sale them, and it's a shame to loose them.

I will sail what I god damn want... How about we make...

    1. 4th rates and below are no longer craftable (done)

    2. 4th rates and below are no longer sold in shops, neither by NPC nor Players

    3. 4th rates and below can not be capped.

I prefer this idea. Point being the devs should not limit anything to the point where we cannot craft a ship that was once available in the game because people prefer sailing them. Some people always believe bigger is better and you cannot stamp that out of someone.

As the title suggests, evidence is mounting that alts, alternate accounts owned and played by the same physical person, are causing more and more frustration with the general playerbase (i.e. non-alt-users). Even without shady things like preventative tagging, counter-aggression, and battle-filling, a person with more than one account has that many more crafting hours, outposts, production buildings, and market contracts. It is the very definition of pay-to-win. Individuals like @Anolytic, who have admitted to having no less than six accounts, are capable of easily belting out exceptional first-rates every single day.

This is a major problem for the game at large. Usage of alts in the game, while it is nice for GameLabs, financially, for now, seriously hinders the health of the community and the longevity game. The very ships that the devs have indicated that should be rare and, explicitly, exceptional, are no big deal for people with multiple accounts.

Shady tactics like using cross-nation alts to hide in battles, countering or abusing hostility, and entering large-ship battles in small ships, only to escape shortly after the battle begins, are all examples of game-breaking tactics that ruin the fun for the game.

I propose that holders of alts at least be allowed to surrender their alt accounts for redeemables (paints and ship chests) for a short period of time. Following this grace period, any person found using an alt should be banned permanently.

You cannot prevent someone purchasing a game as many times as they want. We have a right to do what we want with $$$. You are obviously not very well aware of some mechanics in the game that can be somewhat abused by alts. You cannot rid of it, it is impossible. So accept it, learn this tricks and avoid them in the first place.

    I was joking, relax.

The amount of effort I have actually put in practicing this in my own time, all alone, figuring out mechanics and endless hours to finally "somewhat" master the art, and then being called a cheater is actually gut-wrenching remark.

I do have a video on demasting reserved for my OWN clan members only, and now I am only more reluctant on letting people like you actually see it.

Thank you for the comment and good day..

    Welllll...?

Experience and practice being the main. But knowing and judging distance, speed, when to turn your ship during a broadside, when to manual sail mid broadside and turn at the same time, when to turn the rudder and release it then turn it again. It can take a mistake on timing up to 0.1 seconds to completely render a demast attempt ineffective.

Charged shot should be used as well.

    Hey everyone!

So, i'm a big fan of demasting. It is one of the things that take alot of practice to master. It is more skill based than Chain and it requires you to be close to your target.

However, atm demasting is not really a viable tactic. You barely see anyone demast other players in the OW and i personally find this to be very sad.

I'd be more than happy to suggest some test values for mast thickness/cannon penetration so that we can have it implemented on the test server for testing.
But alas, i'm not doing the work unless the Devs will let us test these values.

PS. I'm not saying we should make demasting OP again (As it was before the great carronade nerf). However i am saying it should be just as viable a tactic as chaining.
    - Also, i am aware that you can, on the test server, weaken the structure of the ship and then demast. However this does not seem "fair" compared to chaining being effective from the get go.

So please, if you support the idea of making demasting viable again, please like this post and/or comment below with your own opinion!
Thank you very much for reading.
    Cheers.
    Tommy Shelby.

(I am only talking about 5th to 1st rates here. I have absolutely no idea about the smaller ships.)

Demasting can be done EASILY even with the recent buff as long as you understand HOW to do it. Aiming at the masts is not good enough, it requires more than just that.

This is from one of my recent visits to PvP2. I did a duel against @Jean Pual Vilvenue, and he immobilised my ship before I was even able to fire off a broadside. My L'Ocean was Mahogany and British Refit I think, so not fir or anything. After he did it to me I saw him post screenshots of having done the same to other captains, so he's got it down to a science.

Gf sir. Demasting is what I do now, rarely do I go for the hull anymore in PvP. Definitely not at all easy to demast in 1 broadside.

thats why i said " Same for any further conversation not directly pertaining to adding kill counts, retreats, losses/victories in general to this page.  " Now you have been reported. Please for the last time. stop trolling on this page and being off topic (that goes for everyone) and do it elsewhere. What are you? 3? Even I, the greatest troll of all dont go troll your stupid pirate posts.

OneEyedSnake - Please be quiet, don't be biased, go on a diet and don't start a riot.

    Good day

  11. All future content patches are completely negated by the fact the PvP Two USA server is almost dead, with the exception of the USA and Brits having an alarmingly large player base when all opposition has since completely vanished.

Get your priorities right and merge the server to PvP One or PvP One to PvP USA. With players not exceeding 100 on PvP Two of recently now would be a good time to explore this before anything else is added to the game.

Exactly,  and game is early access,  still in development,  so if a wipe is needed,  just do it,  after Release u can stockpile ur money, stuff and ships for the Rest of ur life, but while testing phase i dont care to loose anything,  replacing lost stuff is so easy right now

I don't think anyone cares whether its early access or not. The population of PvP Two USA for example has dropped so much over the past few weeks, I rarely see it exceed 130 people. A wipe of all assets will probably mean you won't be seeing any more than 50 people on PvP Two. By release the server will be dead, or it will be merged. You will then see maybe 500-600 people peak on the EU server.

  13. Which would be a good thing.

If there were 4 power nations and 4 minor nations it would make for an interesting political and balance stand point.

    Who are you?

Digital is in most of the PBs we have had, either in a mortar brig, or in another ship that is needed.

Yeah he comes in a Mortar Brig, because he's good at taking empty ports haha. Well said Hodo, well said...

  14. Taurus454 and Sweedish Cheese are the only people on the server that pop out at the same time, and constantly link racial slang related images targeted at the CN clan as they are predominately of Chinese nationality.

Reported them on countless occasions for over a week.
