  1. I just wanted to bump this topic, today I was thinking it would be cool to have craftable figureheads for ships, some would be very basic and others would be more elaborate, perhaps that would inspire the crew somehow? It would be nice to personalize a ship a bit
  2. I think it would be a neat addition to the game if you could buy a piece of land around a city of your choosing and create an estate of plantation. The starting plots of land would be basic farms and as you invested into them they would grow in size and be able to give you resources each season. A starter farm might allow you to pick 1 resource, lets say Fir. A small farm could produce 20 Fir a season, which you could sell or use for crafting. You would also get "hands" or crew for your farm, the small farm might start with 15 workers and as you invested into the farm it would grow larger. The largest would be the Plantation or the Estate and might have several hundred workers, sort of like crew. A large plantation might produce 100 Fir a season, or it could excavate 100 Copper Ore a season. Really big plantations might specialize in 3-4 resources. And each estate/plantation would also produce a certain amount of crew for your ships. You might get 100 crew from your estate, after which if you needed to buy more crew you would have to hire them for more gold. Each city might have a certain amount of Plantation/Farm deeds it could support and they might not have every resource available to them. Some of it could be chance, you might find Iron on your estate or maybe you have to settle with cotton and a few other staples. So if Charleston has room for 50 players, once all the deeds where taken up a Captain might have to settle somewhere else, he may even want to strike out closer to where some resources are more common. The people who settled around a certain city/port would then elect out of the other players a Governor. So at a certain point an election would be held and the 50 land owners could would elect a governor. The governor of a city would have some additional powers and responsibilities. First thing is they declare for a Nation, if they are in Charleston and choose to go Spain, there could be consequences, like other players retaking the port and installing a new governor or having an election. The governor could set tax and tariff rates for some goods and he would also be in charge of the defense of a city. Some landowners might be of different nationalities then the Ports declaration, that is ok, they would just perhaps pay an extra tax. I think a lot of ideas could be worked with this and it would add a lot to this game, I think it seems reasonable a ship captain might branch out into land ownership. Thanks for reading, add your own ideas if you have any
