  1. I am ok with switching servers and keeping xp. I switched my self from PVP 3 to 1. there was simply so much more happening on 1

How ever if you wish to swap nations you should start with 00 XP in my opinion. That would make it a huge decision rather than flavour of the month. I also think it should apply to Pirates. If you attack a friendly ship your a Pirate, but have to start out and prove yourself all over again so start with 00XP.

This would make nation flipping a little less common

  2. simple fix...  no more nation vs nation...    game becomes clan vs clan..   new players are 'handsoff' and automatically placed in pve only NPC corps until they decide to join a clan.

Clans allowed to establish their own ports and areas of influence , or just hang out at free towns.

Other clans able to come along and wipem out..

That's what the pirate nation is for, it enables clan V clan action.

I would much rather sail for my country, It adds a whole sense of purpose to the game and enhances the historical feel of the game.

  3. THERE COULD BE A SIMPLE SOLUTION...?

At present only the player launching an attack and the player being attacked can see the attack circle and red crossed swords. This seems a bit ridiculous as any ship engaging another can be seen by all ships in the vicinity.

The solution would be to make the circle and crossed swords visible to all players within a certain distance, possibly the ship being attacked could have crossed swords of another colour (blue for example), this way everyone knows who is attacking who.

Any disputes and misunderstandings could then be resolved by all involved in the action as they know who did what. Before the action, players at risk of getting dragged in can try to avoid the action if they so choose.

If something like this proposed solution was implemented, a huge amount of frustration and resentment that this causes in game would be avoided.

Thanks everone for their comments - it looks like this is a pain in the backside for all nations.

    Happy sailing

This has to be implemented or at least tested. I did read the admins reply but only allow one tag per circle and it will not get messy.

  4. pic of the problem with british screening fleet - it does NOT prove the tagger is an alt etc (no accusation being made here) - the pic shows the flawed tagging mechanic

as suggested, devs please introduce a UI window that asks 'do you wish to join this battle? - yes/no'

1 midshipman in a cutter tying up numerous screening ships, be it intentional or not (nearly impossible to prove one way or the other) is bad tagging mechanics

    a62c0b2299.jpg

That looks like solid enough proof. The IP address of cacalio should be looked at.

  5. I do not complain of placing the flag but the disappearance of the fleet of boats port attack.

The purchase of 2 flags at once by the same player.

The server crashed twice last night for a lot of people during the skirmishing and many lost connection me included.

I heard on TS from those that did not loose connection that fleets had disappeared this would of been quite early along the coast from Xpu.  If this is not what your talking about, report it to the developers.

  6. Gentlemen. How about we let the developers decide what is, or is not an exploit?

I am sure you could drag ship into combat across that small piece of land would that be an exploit too?

People will always push the game rules to a limit some people are very clever at using game mechanics to get an advantage are they exploiters or simply clever thinkers? Its an age old argument but it takes these out the box thinkers to highlight the issues in the first place.

The only people who can pass judgement on such matters in my opinion are the ones who made the game.

We are all here in early access stage of the game and the more issues that get raised the better the end product will be. Instead of flinging exploit accusations at each other inform the devs and lets have their response copied and pasted here to see who is or in fact isn't exploiting.

  7. 22 April (1798) 1453 In early hours of the morning, Byzantine (French and Spanish) were shocked and horrified when they saw Ottoman (British) galleys moving down on the hills of the harbor. Seventy ships carried by cows and balanced by hundreds of soldiers via ropes were slid over slipways. By the afternoon, the ships were inside the well protected bay. The surprise appearance of the (British) Ottoman fleet in the bay created panic among residents of Constantinople (Corrientes ). The wall on the shore of the Golden Horn became a vulnerable spot and some of the Byzantine forces were moved there. This weakened the defense of the land walls - See more at: http://www.greatistanbul.com/conquest.html#sthash.MFYtcqEV.dpuf

Just been reading about it myself.

  8. This game is history related or at least it is trying to be. I really do not want to see stupid clanflags flying over the ships. Tag is fine. Can you imagine how "creative" players can be.

It only has to be a small square flag or insignia not huge like the Nation flag already on display. It could replace one of the other numerous small flags already on display.

  9. Thing is, IceShade. If they did that, the Danes would probably just roll south and demolish them back to one port. Like they've done, what is it now? Twice? Sweden and France? But of course, let's not bring that up.

Only the British can be the bad guys in this narrative, it's not like the Pirates happened to have as many ports as us a day or two ago.

Again, I'll reiterate my appreciation towards those Frenchmen I've actually met in battle. Some good fights to be had down by Playon at the start.

Why didn't Sweden and France and possibly Holland ally against the Danes and roll them back to one port? Makes no sense to me if a nation poses such a threat its better to remove the threat rather than live under it.

  10. I see a lot of people wanting visible clan tags in the open world.

How about letting clans have their own flags that are seen on the back of a ship in the open world and in battle?  Would this type of thing be possible or too much work to introduce?

It would be nice to be able to spot clan mates on open water but tags seem so unrealistic to me and spoil the flavour of the game. Even in battle wouldn't it be much nicer if clans were visible by a flag on the ship rather than the name of the person?

  11. I can't imagine any "over inflated ego drama queen" actually controlling a clan of more then 10 people.

For me people who say "We spit on majority of Sweden not wanting to fight with Danes, I WON'T STOP my sacred war against them!" look more like a drama queen.

I have been playing online games since they first came into existence and I can tell you from experience, most but not all guild or clan leaders have inflated egos and many are drama queens, the worst are those that name a guild or clan after themselves.

As for the division in your own nation, its down to you guys to sort out not the devs.

The split will damage your nation over time and eventually both sides will realise it and come to an arrangement one way or the other.

It seems to me everyone on that side of the world is scared of the Danes, might be these Drunk guys simply have more balls than the rest of the nation or they really are drunk lol.

  12. Then what is your solution as a small clan for this matter. I know that we cant tell everyone what to do, heck, even when people acknowledge me as battle commander, some guys still refuse to listen to me in a battle 25vs25. We will have minority in every situation. But we need to make the best out of it.[/

What makes you think the game will be better if you allow a few clans to dictate what an entire nation can do?

Like I said before if you have a decent charismatic leader people will want to follow him. If it's just your normal over inflated ego drama queen that you often find at the top of many clans then people will quite rightly simply ignore the idiot.

If you cannot unite a nation then it could be time your nation got a new leader. It should not need the devs to do it for you.

  13. No time to speak about winnnig side althought the war is not over. We've lost players complaning about fighting empty ports but you reinforce the idea for all french captain you are not playing fair and you desserve to be destroyed.

You're hiding behind australians players never seen.

    Here are you timers: http://mdb-dev.es/NavalPorts/

You just have 3 ports set up on your own primetime because you're only way to win this war is to use anything to make you survive.

The battle is fun for you  because you're fighting fair opponent and you enjoy being able to rvr our port in attack on your primetime when we can't attack yours on the same time.

In a french perspective, you are a nation of trollexploiter that don't desserve any respect. The war is not fun, the war is necessary

And what are you?  A people who got destroyed by the Danes and begged them for mercy?   Now attack a nation hiding behind Danish and Spanish fleets?

I do not want your respect and you are most certainly not worthy of mine.

I only speak here as an individual English captain and my thoughts are my own but I shall dam well have my say.

  14. There is nothing wrong with the current system in my opinion.

No body can force anyone to play the game a certain way. The only rule, set in stone is you cant kill your own team mate without being made a pirate.

Diplomacy is driven by big clans but they cannot and should not be allowed to control what every single individual does under his nations flag.

Some leaders in games are truly great people worth following, more often than not though leaders of clans and online guilds are hyper sensitive drama queens with over inflated egos. Should the entire population be made to follow the whims of one of these types?

Under the current system a charismatic figure with patience and hard work should be able to unify a nation or at least the vast majority of it. Should a major clan leader be able invoke a rule that makes people follow his wishes?

Never in a million years for me.

Stop asking the devs to spoon feed and micro manage people for you and start doing your own diplomatic work instead.

  15. Nothing wrong with insults ect for me as long as they are all within the game context. Some people however seem to have a problem of taking things personally when it's clearly not meant personally.

People who post about players out of game like mentioning the nationality of the player rather than the nation he plays for should be, first warned then banned from posting if repeated.

  16. I warned the devs about multiple servers prior to EA. The problem is population retention. My response from the devs was they seemed more interested in attraction than retention. Makes sense with a game that only generates revenue on purchase.

Given the multitude of nations and map size they should of invested in server size. I would consent to 1 PvP and PvE servers given the sandbox nature of the game. If we are this point now in population the six month mark looks dismal. They should merge the servers now and work on capacity. Worry about adding servers when you get closer to launch.

Lets not forget the pvp 3 server was created as mirror of pvp1 because it was becoming impossible to log in.  It would of been much worse having people buy the game then not being able to log in and play it without being number 200+ in a waiting lobby as was the case for me when I tried to play on pvp1.

It is still early access and the fact your experience is the same on all servers means migration is not too painful should you feel the need, lets see how it pans out in the future.

  17. GG so called "British Council of Clowns" oh I'm sorry Clans is it? just screwd every British player (new players to be more exact). They over extended the borders, started attacking Spanish all the time, pissed off every other nation with thier arrogance, taking ports of little stategic value, and thier response now? "We don't really care". Instead of defending thier borders they got humiliated by letting Denamrk-Norway land on shores of capital. British clans right now are the prime example of how not to do Diplomacy, Strategy and going on a power trip. US should ally it self with the Spanish just so they could stir the pot even more.

    Pull yourself together man.

Peace is overrated anyway. It was getting boring having to sail 2 days to find an enemy ship. Danes are teaching new players a good lesson or two on battle mechanics while the big boys are away. Lets embrace the tuition and it will only make the nation stronger in the future.

  18. Whole this issue shows need for true in-game diplomacy - cause any players agreement doesn't work at the moment.

It also shows quality of leaders on "both"(all) of sides, yes my bigest disappointments concerning leaders.

We currently have true in game diplomacy. It is totally created and driven by the players, you cannot get any more true in game than that.

What your asking for is outside intervention from the devs? why do we need the devs involved? The game is young and diplomacy is in its infancy why not wait and see how it pans out first before we get the rules changed?

  19. I think they went defensive because the OP is claiming some kind of victory when it was in fact another defeat. Yes you killed some first rates, we have all seen the video though and those victories went in very aggressive. They went in first and drew the attention of the entire attacking fleet. Good kills indeed but at the cost of the battle and your entire fleet.

  20. Yesterday I re- rolled on EU pvp 1 server. Despite being the rank of Post Captain, I find my self penniless and in a basic cutter.

I undock from Port Royal and decide I better hunt some contraband merchants to make some coin for a decent ship.

Off I sail, and before long I find a smuggler in a trade snow, I am careful not to drag anyone else into battle and when the coast is clear I engage.

I am a bit rusty and leave a bit of a chase but i catch up and start chaining the sails.

Then the tell tale lag spike tells me I am no longer alone. Another Brit sailing a Brig. I clearly state my intention to capture the trader and I pull along side and start sweeping the decks with grape.

The Brig captain does not reply and is firing solid shot from a distance and I think, ok he wants some xp.

To my astonishment he catches up to us, cuts across the trader and proceeds to board it from under my nose.

I was fuming after all the work I had put in, so I sailed out in a big circle,he was parked across the Snows bow.

I came in full speed along side the Snow and rammed the Brig mid ships. I had intended to brake the boarding action but the resault was much more rewarding. My cutter rode up on to the Brigs deck and pushed it downwards I kept pushing him at full speed and he sank within half a minute.

Now not only was the Brig sunk his boarding action had reduced the crew on the Trader to a number below my basic cutter so I could continue with my boarding action without the need for further grape shot.
