cadets should start at the Naval Academy on PvE server.

Upon passing final exams have the choice to graduate and be stationed in the Caribbean or remain at home.

( meaning free character transfer to the pvp server )

No idea how easy or hard this is to the database works.

Don't force PVE on people.  I would say cadets have a choice to start on the PVE server with the option to transfer their stuff later, upon passing the exam, to the PVP server. But also allow them to start on the PVP server maybe signing an agreement knowing they can be attacked.

You are right and wrong at the same time... everyone is different. When I started the game I enjoyed the huge map and having to learn navigation to get around on it but some people might not like it at all and you should consider giving new players tow to port with shorter CD or something in case they get lost and don't enjoy it... just my opinion.

I'll agree with that.  Personally I loved getting lost, magic moment for me when you find out where you are.  But not everyone is me.  Maybe for the first rank, 15 min cooldown, second rank 1 hr cooldown. But then again alts can exploit this :/

  3. If you sail alone, sail the right trade ship, don't expect to trade outside safe zones in Indianmans or even Trader Brigs.  Since I started playing again on EU since the wipe, I've been making money trading (I hate missions) doing Gustavia to Christensed (as a pirate) trade runs in a Traders Lynx when I feel like taking a risk (otherwise La Mona to that one port on the North side, can't remember what it's called). Haven't been caught yet, been tagged plenty of times. Unless there are people sailing Lynxs around (which you never see) a traders Lynx is impossible to catch unless you are sailing AFK.

  4. I get what the EU pop is saying, they are afraid US players will set their defensive timers at unreasonable times for EU players to attack.  But as the global community is joining the EU server, they will have to take those ports first before they can set the timers.  So unless a large US pop (other than privateers like myself) play on EU, I don't see a big problem.  Just be ready to defend your important ports so they cannot be flipped and timers switched. I just feel bad for those that will have horrid ping.

Balanced Battles open for 10+ min only feeds the lazy players jerking off in port while waiting for someone "stupid enough" to actually sail a ship in their waters and then join a battle he should never be able to get to.

We need more reasons to actively sail out and hunt yourself, NOT messing up current battle timers

Amen! I would be for open timers if it's added that if you are not on the sea when the battle starts, you cannot get in, unless it's in a green zone. Also you would have to account for distance, I wouldn't want every entering player 10 minutes after battle starts to jump in on top. Personally I enjoy small battles & brawling.
