  1. Need to create incentive to sail away. I'd suggest offering missions that are much farther away from the port, but more gold and XP compared to the missions you see now. This sorta mimics the original poster's suggestion. If more players travel further that increases the odds of running into ships from other nations. Sometimes that might not be true (could send you deeper into friendly territory instead) but sometimes it might. A pathwork of longer sailing missions across the map just forces players to sail further from their home ports. With all the encounter potential that entails. I think that is the simplest solution that works within the existing framework of the game. Yes players could continue to stay in friendly seas and grind away on the standard missions but adventurous players will look for the more lucrative mission payouts, even if it means more sailing time and greater risk of running into ships from other nations.
  2. The real solution is to join the pirates, rise up through the ranks, start your own group, dominate one or more ports, calling them yours and saying that other pirates are not welcome there. Then go to war with all other pirates.
  3. When I go to play now my options are Naval Action Beta and Naval Action Beta x86. What's the difference?
  4. I think the Q&A on this thread (which could be turned into a FAQ on a wiki), would be a great addition. http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/8102-a-whole-load-of-questions-regarding-this-one/
  5. Just curious as to how everyone is (or will be, post-wipe) choosing character names. I find myself rather stuck on the issue.
  6. Blood...the NPC who I repeatedly sink in 1-on-1 small battles. I feel like Blood deserves a tribute of some kind, don't you?
  7. So I've been using Steam for years now but I just discovered that all that inventory stuff I had accumulated, trading cards, booster packs of trading cards, could actually be sold on a community market. I had 2 full pages of cards and such that I sold for about $1.80 total, sometimes selling them as low as 1 cent a card (plus Steam Fees). That money got added to my steam wallet. That blew my mind, I got real money out of playing my games, barely pocket change but still. I'm flummoxed by this whole concept. I've read websites, watched youtube videos, but I really want to talk to someone who actually uses that whole system. Do you accumulate cards? Trade them? Turn them into emoticons or whatever? Is there a specific thing you are interested in getting? Are you just trying to make some real money by buying low/selling high? I'm struggling to understand the motivation behind it. But if anyone here actively participates in the Steam Trading card system I'd love to talk about it.
  8. I've always thought it would be unique and creative to name a ship the Leverage.

    FPS

The very first time I tried the game when I bought it earlier this week, I had the same problem, FPS dropped to 3 and stayed there. But I exited out of the game, restarted the computer, and it was fine. I wasn't able to replicate it. When I restarted I did discover a big windows update waiting. Can't say for sure that had anything to do with it, but thought it worth mentioning.
  10. If you live in the US, they just added a movie to Netflix Watch Instantly called Northern Limit Line. It's about the 2002 naval battle between North and South Korea. Focuses on the action between 2 gunboats. It was created for a Korean audience so the movie is in Korean. I'm always on the watch for naval movies and TV shows so I was surprised that I hadn't heard about this one. Therefore I thought it worth pointing out for the benefit of what seems to be a like-minded community here. Most of the movie is character building and narrative. But you also get a good glimpse into the routine of the boat. In particular because its so small its not meant for long voyages, they scramble out of port or a floating base with more complete crew facilities. Which in itself I found interesting actually. But there are some good scenes with the gunboats at sea and the battle is short but intense, close quarters gunfight at sea. If you are into naval movies, it's worth watching for its look at a modern close range naval gun battle, which just doesn't happen anymore in the era of cruise missiles. The combat scenes reminded me Saving Private Ryan or Black Hawk Down for their visceral bloody/gory nature. Don't expect it to feel uplifted at the end. It's a movie about what happened to a particular ship and crew with emphasis on the human cost of war.
  11. What I'm still unclear on is whether the Yacht having no cannons constitutes a "bug." Would also like to know what the Yacht should/can carry, but that isn't a bug issue that's just a game question while I'm on this train of thought.
  12. Update: I restarted the computer and tried playing again, this time started at low graphics and brought it up to high. Made sure AA stayed off. FPS stayed in the 40+ range, sometimes a lot better. So that problem seems to be solved, or at least, I haven't been able to replicate it so far. Both in open world and a battle the game is playable. The Yacht cannons thing still has me scratching my head. I found the base cannons that were sold for zero gold in the shop. I purchased those and tried to slot them in from my warehouse into the ship's weapon slot. It appears there for a moment, then moves it back to the warehouse. So I can't seem to arm the Yacht.
  13. By "av" I assume you mean anti-virus (if I'm wrong please tell me). Using Webroot Secure Anywhere
  14. Just got the game key today, tried playing. The Yacht had no cannons and I did not appear to have the gold to buy any. Made me wonder if I missed required "pick up your free cannons" somewhere as an upgrade but I have not found anything on the forums to support that hypothesis. The other issue was much more concerning. I dropped into a small battle with 2 other ships. For a few seconds the game seemed ok but then FPS dropped to 3 (my ping was about 130-140). It was basically unplayable after that and I just sailed away from the fight. I dropped graphic settings from ULTRA to Low, no change in FPS. Ultimately control-alt-deleted out, it was so slow it was not even doing anything when I tried to click exit game. I did F11 and reported both as bugs. Not sure if I should also post here but I figured I'd give that a shot. A little bit about my rig. Processor IntelĀ® Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3401 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s) 8 MB memory Graphics card EVGA GTX 960 Supercharged. Windows 10 Might be running DirectX 12 Any help is appreciated.
