  1. What do you want? The devs to share their scrum board?

This is a pretty big complex piece of software. My understanding is the dev team is quite small. I would also imagine there are ops issues that the players have very little visibility into unless things go horribly wrong. Some feature fixes are easy as tweaking parameters (penetration and such). Architectural features are much harder (revamping crafting) especially if you are trying to simultaneously support an active player base.

Honestly I could not care less about the grey/blue port UI. That is the LAST thing they should be worrying about.

  2.

    La Habana, May 28th 1816

A port of the Spanish nation has been attacked by the United States today without any notice.

This regretful event is considered as an act of war.

The Spanish nation cannot tolerate having its border being violated and will react relevantly to this provocation.

Spain is therefore declaring war to the United States with immediat effect.

We strongly invite our agressors to initiate diplomatic negociation in order to repair that offensive act.

    Viva el Rey !

Your "borders"? Or the borders of your oppressive, imperial empire?

I can't find Spain on the game map at all.

  3. historicly the US Navy wase weak at the time, so don't care for the french.

I think you are missing the point. If you think the game will sell well in the US (outside of China the largest Video Game market in the world) if new users from the US log in for the first time and see their native land squished then you're in for a surprise.

The game needs a self balancing mechanism that where the better a faction is doing the harder it gets for that faction.

  4. That's your comeback, the pirate nation is an exploit, what do we have that you don't besides the pirate frigate that we don't even use?

The ability to do live fire training with basically zero risk or cost?

The ability to teleport a half of a fleet to any outpost in seconds?

When you join pirates you get to keep everything (with an ounce of planning)?

  5.

    i have a solution for point 4 and 5.

Make ports include capital and sw be based on BR.

    capital 20k br

    all other ports 15k

I suspect that battle instance limits being based on number of ships and not BR is about keeping control of the number of database accesses per second. A cutter sailing around and fighting is probably hitting the databases nearly as hard as a first rate sailing around and fighting.

  6. Capturing all these ports just ruins the game for newcomers. They realise that cannt go two minutes away from "home" withou being attacked. They try it a second and a third time - then they leave and tell all their friend this game is no goo fo newbs. Good Propaganda, as if we are not losing enough players.

Sometimes, as a community we should care about the game itself and not some running battles between a few players who hate each other.

But SORRY is more important than the game.

  7. This is a war game. We are sorry that innocents were caught in the middle but that is unavoidable.

You really do not get it. If you have an MMO where there is a "winner" than you have an MMO that dies.

The American council was an organization of American clans of which The Tattered Flags and The Decatur Armada were the largest and most powerful clans. The SORRY clan was once the STARS and STRIPES clan and was American and was ostracized by the council. Outraged by their treatment by the council , the membership of Stars and Stripes decided to become Pirate so to punish The American Council.

Pretty much the definition of having your "panties in a bunch". Ooooohhhhh, they hurt my feelings so I am going to piss in pool.

Congrats on making the game worse.

  8. I wonder how many people who liked the game just won't be back?

I don't know and don't care about the petty little bickering between SORRY and the American Council. I have no idea who the American Council "leadership" is or what exactly they lead. I'm not in a clan and I don't intend to join one because I got over jr high school politics a very long time ago. I do know that Lord Vicious getting his panties in a bunch about a few American players has basically wrecked the game for a whole lot of people who have nothing to do with the American Council.

    Congrats on your Pyrrhic victory.

  9. The 'mechanic' is "you get out you what you put in."

If you run and run and run and run and run and retreat and run and retreat and run then retreat and run and do all your fighting in the global chat, with only your mouth, never your boats, then you earn a particular outcome and have to live the consequences of your behavior.

You may be right but it is moot point.

If an MMO has long term winners and losers it dies. If an MMO is not balanced it will be short lived.

  10. No Justice No Peace!

    Submit, America!

A pvp game needs a trial by fire, people need to understand from the start how the game works. If people can't tolerate getting smashed by another person without melting down, there is a PVE server for them.

The alternative, of coddling people and trying to trick them into thinking its not a PvP game by insulating the starting zones, is bad because people end up investing time they can't get back, only to find out later that they can't abide PvP.

Trial by fire, wheat from the chaff, its how it has to be.

An MMO that has mechanics that allow a faction to be exterminated 4 months after launch and a total wipe will be very short lived.

  11. Actually, the devs care very much and are watching the spread of The Black with rapt attention.  Not because they think what is being done is broken in any way, but in order to refine it so that it will evolve to be inclusive of more players in more varieties of ships.  your pain is every players gain.  if some ppl are leaving because of the testing we are conducting: so be it; the devs already have their money PLUS most will be returning when more changes like the coming rate limitations are implemented PLUS new players will continue to join.  This is all known and expected in the development cycle of a game.  When you tell us (paraphrased0 "you are breaking the game!", our answer is "Good, we are doing exactly what is expected of us. [sORRY]"

I am sure they are. I assume they are computer scientists so the problem is very easy to explain via basic CS theory.

Cost and complexity of running and scaling a big empire:

    In the real world  O(n^2)

    In Naval Action  O(1)

  12.

Usa still chose to follow their "Leaders" , boot them out and we will not be that mean.

What "leaders"? There is no organization with any actual authority or power.

I'm an independent, I play with no clan. I play a few hours a day in the evenings US pacific time after work. Sometimes I team up with folks on an ad hoc basis.

Tell me... What authority does the American council have over me? None whatsoever. What could they do to me if I defy them? Nothing. What could I do to "boot them out"? Nothing. So how exactly are they, or any coalition of clans that I am not a member of, considered "leadership"?
