lol he said AI is hard to play against and you need a fleet.

You're not gonna take a port with 5 palyers looking at 25 AIs or at the very elast its gonna be a fun battle. never said the AI was a genius but its a start. Conan Exiles has thralls (AI) to protect your camp while you are out and about or asleep. Why not here too?

well then. Lock down PBs for 23 00 server time.

Its guys like you spamming the same uninformed comment over and over again crying for unwarranted changes that are at the very least partially responsible for this game becoming a joke and a failure!

PvP2 you genius, for non Europe players.

Try to traverse a world the size of the Caribbean when only 100 palyers are in it. Good luck finding any PvP! Its no surprise nobody wants to play on that server and the fact that you still can't attack during US prime time even on that one is not exactly helping. You guys signed up for a global game and are now in retrospect complaining about that - that is just retarded.

I udnerstand being against intentional night flipping wiht the intent goal of not facing an opponent while destroying their accomplishments but to deny a playerbase the right to play is not ok. Fill the ports with AI so at the very least the attackers have to work for it and get a fleet together but do not go for a bait and switch.

Yes, I have played this game many times back in college; but that was years before Ultimate General was released. ;)

    Or . . . .

Did you wake to find Billy Idol's 'Rebel Yell' playing on the alarm?

my alarm sound is Tom Jones and Seasick Steve performing 'You Gotta Move' :P

I guess we could organize two channels on a nation TS, but since I dont own my own server, I'll have to ask for it first. Good point, though. :)

If we run into any trouble with the Nation Server for this I will offer the UKS server as a backup on which to run this event (got 512 slots so we shouldn't run into any problems :D ).

Would love to see it at 1600 to 1700 start though to keep it out of the way of port battles and allow for people to participate without having to choose between different activities.

Also if you want I would craft an Exceptional, Live Oak, Strong Hull, Strength, Victory for next weeks prize pool.

That his enjoyment in the game has been ruined.

Not like the whole meta gameplay/endless hours of work for short fun has killed far more players then night flips ever could - you're looking at a 9:1 scenario here. And again this occurs on both sides.

Just like the 1000 other players the server is missing...

9:1 dude - there are so many issues right now that are far more threatening to the playerbase we are already missing and those that remain.

Hmm. I didn't notice the abnormality in press gang before. But after watching the video again I notice that in the second half of the second boarding enemy Fire deck guns are a lot more powerful compared to my attacks than it normally is, and that might partially account for why the morale did not drop from 1 to 0. At least in the beginning. Although Fire deck guns in being so effective against attack is in itself an oddity when it normally isn't.

I think that was changed like 3-4 weeks ago - fire deck guns suddenly started being a real killer against attacks while before it was a sure attack win.

  8. As I said that is not a solution and at best a temporary fix. You risk a fire or leaks by shooting ball and you damage the ship. Good hunters don't shoot at the ship itself and they are the ones harmed by this. And you could still exploit it like crazy - 1 shot then surrender - with prepared that takes about 10 more seconds!!!

  9. This has probably come up before but I am just posting it here nonetheless in case it hasn't.

Yesterday I was sailing around in my Privateer to find myself a few litttle targets to board. After boarding 5 ships (2 players, 3 AI) by keeping them within area control, chaining them down and then jumping on board with the marines after a load of grape I noticed that I had not received any hostility points and neither had the region's hostility gone up. I am aware that this problem can be countered by simply putting a broadside of ball into the target however as a good privateer I have no interest in seriously damaging my future possession (or set players on fire/give them leaks by accident). Please fix this and allow boarding only to also be awarded as a kill for the hostility.

  10. The only one crying is you guys. We are asking for the devs/mods ruling here not for comments. And as you guys are always crying about late port battles maybe this is not the best idea to do things as you now have a late night game experience instead of a nice evening battle. You only really harmed yourself here as the battle is happening nonetheless.

Without mods, 1 dura vessels become viable.

Can just be done with mods not being lost upon ship's death (returned to your upgrade hold). We already have to run two ships due to the wood type/crafting bonus difference if we add yet another factor we will sit on even more ships. That would just get out of hand now. While I like ships kitted out for a specific purpose and being very strong in their field I think the option to switch around quickly needs to stay so we don't sink even more storage space and time into this game just to be competitive (this would be yet another traveling for parts moment with no action for yet another must have ship).

  12. All right, ships, ships, ships! Come on ship lovers! Here at the Salty Dogz Ship Emporium we are crafting ships in top notch quality! Give us an offer on our vast selection of ships, this is a ship blow out! All right, we got British ships, Pirate ships, Spanish, ships, French ships, Dutch ships, American ships, Danish ships, Swedish ships, we got strong ships, weak ships, fast ships, slow ships, heeling ships, ramming ships, boarding ships, we even got fast turning ships, morale boostin' ships, wind defying ships, wind supporting ships! Come on, you want ships, come on in, ship lovers! If we don't got it, you don't want it! Oh and if you can find better ships anywhere else - SAIL IT!

First one to get the movie reference gets my whole hearted respect ;)

I think one thing that may help these discussions is clarifying WHICH server the discussion is regarding. I am on PVP2 and saw the one post where it stated that the pirates and British were working together and wanted to instantly flame the poster until he resembled the contents of an ashtray.

once you've palyed this game for a while you know the palyers and on which server the are. We kidna stopped giving the PvP1 or 2 tags a logn time ago due to mostly being veterans around these days.

I'm sick of the "we are better" thing tbh Kloothommel. This is one thing why the pirates think they fight for the british underdog nation.

No nation is actually easy - it is an assumption that reflects nothing. Brits ahve palyers but need them over the entire map spreading them very thin and requiring hours and hours of gameplay just to cover the necessities. Danes, Swedes etc suffer from lower amounts of players yet require less as well. In the end we're probably quite on par. Also the next one to claim Britain is easy should try and be a new palyer in our nation. While the palyerbase throws money and ships and advice at you KPR is beset by gankers about 24/7. We have lost a buttload of palyers to the fact that their first experience in PvP is looking at 5 french ships that are so fast they can't face them in equal combat but will die to them in the no fun ganking experience. Now I am sure other nations also suffer but try being literally everybodies (especially some toxic and outspoken players) bad guy since day one of playing the game (been attacked for only being in the British nation sicne I play the game (December 2015)). It quite frankly wears you down and makes you unwillign to cooperate with anything that only scratches the surface of claiming Britain is the problem.

And skill in nation is a pile of absolute and utter bullshit. When we make fun of one another sure its a good laugh to say the French ahve no clue in real combat. But to assume their nation wouldn't be good at for real is jsut retarded. I ahve met more then one decent French player and I wouldn't ever udnerestimate them. But I also wouldn't claim the Danes are only skilled palyers. You ahve some but not more or less then other nations. Get off your high horse or youre in for a paddlin'.

It seems to me that what is broken is the steam review system itself.

People shouldn't be able to delete comments to their Steam review. Print and be damned as the saying goes.

The reviews that matter are the professional game press reviews. In the meantime before release let's hope that some of them revisit the game to see how it's coming along and widen the awareness to people like me who only stumbled across this game from an article at rockpapershotgun.

Yeah no! Obviously this guy isnt exactly the best example but if you lose control over your reviews people will primarily be subjected to fanboy spams. While you'd sort one guy out you would punish 99 normal people. I have written a negative review for a different game before which got so out of hand with the fanboy threats and responses and even the bullying that came from one of the devs that I ended up having to report like 20 people to steam (btw the review itself had a 95% positive rating so I can't have been that wrong about what I said). In the end I just removed all comments whether in favour or not all the time. Id rather just have the option to allow comments or not. Equal censorship or none so to speak.

People also need to remember that a review always is the personal reflection of how somebody has perceived the game and its surroundings and whether they would recommend it as such to the possible buyers. As such there might be misunderstandings in there that are nonetheless valid. If the player made experiences in the game that he is not meant to then it is not his fault he writes that down. It only means the player wasn't guided enough or the game wasn't protecting him enough. If it is the intention of the game to be open then it must be accepted that people make different experiences with the same mechanics.

On top of that people need to get it in their head that 3000 hours of play time in no way entitle to a good review. If I personally had a good experience for 2500 hours and then 500 bad hours I will still write a negative review. For being spiteful? NO. It only means that the current stage of the game (reviews can be rewritten or they are a reflecting the final experience of people leaving the game) it can not be recommended for newer players.

Therefore while steam reviews are less controlled and there are obviously bad apples among them they are more up to date then a one time review made by a company. On top of that those one time reviews are never without an agenda. THe professional reviews merely serve as an advertising. Magazines, etc. rely on being given keys - writing too negative would cost them access to new games early on. The problem has been around sicne game reviews were around and people still fail to see it!

Indeed. Openly admitting alt accounts in other nations = espionage = punishable

openly admitting them not punishable! Being caught using them for hunting enemies = punishable - important difference!

  18. 1 hour ago, The Spud said:

If they enter PB's to grief, screenshot it devs can track if its an alt or not (by checking for suspicious activity) in any other Alt exploit situation do the same and devs will check. As far as crafting goes, if you realy want to pay 40€ extra just to have double the outposts, production buildings and crafting hours...why not. If you're half descent you should be able to manage all your ship needs with one account, or have a clan backing you up to do so.

Problem with the spy/disrupting alts is that the devs are very cautious with their punishments (understandably) which renders most tribunals in the eyes of the players a farce. I genuinely think that punishments should be handed out faster and harder however more focused on the offense.

    1. If you block port battle slots or drag in fleets on purpose - 1 week ban from any port battle initiation. You can still be attacked but cannot attack yourself or join a port battle offensive or defensive. That would effectively make you a trader. The game continous to be playable but due to your actions for this week in a limited range.
    2. If you scam in trades or use exploits for trades then you would be blocked from trading with other palyers or the port shops for one full week. This would still allow you to fight yet again lock you out from the area you caused offense in.
    3. If you come to the moderators attention for your language you will have no access to any of the chats for a full week. (TS has to be admined/moderated by the respective owners anyway the devs ahve no say or duty on those)
    4. If you collect more then one offense within an already punished 7 days(effectively also a probation period) you will be fully banned from the game for 7 days.
    5. If you are a repeat offender the next round will get you an additional 7 days meaning 2 weeks lockout from your respective offense/probation. This can be topped up everytime should the need arise.
    6. For alts this could if it can be proven be extended upon the guy controlling the alt. Even if he isn't caught the alt would be put on ice for a full week.

That would be very easy to implement, punish people in the correct areas, allow for quicker punishment as the punishments if incorrect don't lock you out of the entire game and see the playerbase protected in the respective fields of offense.
