why you don't like rams? :)

I absolutely love em but you know on galleys and stuff. Loved playing Athens in Rome Total War II and go for total naval domination :P (btw that Boot guy is called Johann the Ghost ;) )

Honestly though that game looks like a cheap copy of black flag (I could swear the No1 guy is exactly the same voice) made for some weird multiplayer like For Honour. Ubisoft keeps being between genius and complete and utter overpriced crap. Wildlands was pretty decent at least if you get the right guys together but For Honour was a bloody disaster same as Rainbow Six Siege...

  2. I got my own boat in real life mate. Ive also been along the ABC isles with it. The open world is well boring as nothing happens in it but more importantly the sailing itself lacks any kind of activity. I most certainly did not ask for having to trade all day long just to be able to occasionally fight. And only a fool trades in hostile waters especially with the current economy. It can't be that just to find entertainment I effectively have to sail around like a moron risking traders in the enemy's home waters. The open world could ahve more activities, visual entertainments, etc. We ahve absolutely nothing but blue water and the exact same coastline everywhere...

Lookouts are an essential part of combat ships up until today (radar, etc.). I genuinely have no clue why people even argue against a simple shoutout system. It would be about time to see the crew actually be of any damn use. Half of the bloody patch ideas making life hard keep being excused with 'realism' whether the statement fits or not. Then why the hell always against the realism when it would be useful and not a crappy burden?!

Sailing the open world ... is one of the most exciting and nerve-wracking parts of the game.

I have been playing this game for over 1750 hours now. The sea has been blue for the first 10 hours, the next 90 still blue, next 900 still blue and another 750 hours surprise, surprise its still blue... And I'll betcha it will still be blue for the next 250 hours as well. Elite Dangerous not only offers varying visual scenarios but also requires constant activity of you. While relaxing it still keeps me active. Trading in Naval Action on the other hand is an absolute and utter borefest... I commit to it out of the sheer necessity for money and absolutely nothing happens along the road. Hence why everyone watches youtube or whatever while sailing. And even when you end up in combat you either can't fight or run(trader brig) meaning immediate surrender after 10 desperately useless minutes or running away in the LGV (lay in the course and wait for the timer to run out)... That describes like 90% of the traders I have attacked and the rest only were interesting for either side because those guys had fleet ships. The trader was still boring.

I like the idea but I wish it was a vocal key not a visual one (more immersion)

Like the idea as well. I think both should be in combined with a little better 'radar' view in the bottom. But similar to the whole grid square question - options - let us choose how much of it we want to activate. (you can say about Ghost Recon Wildlands what you want but the variety of options regarding the HUD were awesome)

I'm a bloody pirate. Right now is an arms race, don't worry soon the pirates will be on your front door. I wonder if you will run away or fight...!

Anybody who hasn't had the time to grind out several well armed ships yet will run as losing that one good ship would effectively fully reset them and end the game for them. That is no question. It is not even your fault. Every nation/pirates should harm their enemies. But as it stands the game has becoem too grind intensive for people to 'just' tolerate their losses as it was before. Right now it would be easier for me to buy a new motorcycle in real life then a new ship in game (just not enough time). There is something seriously wrong with that!

Monk33y, how do empty port battles make this a better game?

Why do you prefer 25 vs 0 over having defenders be able to easily show up?

Are you just a conquest mark farmer and don't care about ship combat at all?

Have you even been in a real port battle? You should try it sometime. It's a lot of fun. Maybe one of the best features of this game and it doesn't get to happen often enough. Anything that makes full port battles more common, I probably will support the idea.

Answered your own question there didn't you. It makes the SORRY win rate go up :P

(Im guessing your sail for Britain?)

And this is why he charges at any suggestion whether valid or not like a raging douchebag. He is a salty little muppet.

Anyway I don't think the ports should be free. Maybe an alternative solution would be to give ports that will have a battle the next day one(as to not have them respawn over and over again) free port slot so people can store their ship to make the port defended. But not a full time free slot that would be too much.

As the game stands right now however people are asking for free/easy things because those that have a job/kids/etc. seriously struggle to keep up in game thereby losing access to the activities that give purpose in game which in turn means they would eventually leave due to not having a reason to be around. While surely not all things should turn free/easy there needs to be some serious tuning as to not make this a game only for those without a job or way too much free time on their hands.

Pls qoute me in full or not at all..... - but ppl are from time to time going to be either dissatisfied with the rest of the clans in a nation or just in the mood for a change, I don't consider it "disloyal" or "traiterous" - if ppl perceive little to no benefit from working together with one set of clans in a faction I see no reason why they shouldn't opt for a second nation or set of clans.

    1. As only that bit was adressed by me only that bit needed quoting.
    2. There is a clear difference between people swapping antions after 6-12 months and thsoe who can't stand by their choice for more then 2 weeks!

I have always been in the British nation even when dissatisfied with its direction I made my own content and did not just run off.

Yeah because this game needs more of two things - the inability to change nations.

I hate traitors and disloyal players... Do NOT ask me to support their bullshit!

I thought it would be pvp fun heaven as the British should have been determined to hold BRIDGEPORT and the FRENCH needed coal badly with the Swedes pressuring.

But the darn hotfix ruined it and gave everyone coal which made my decision horrible so there was no need for anyone to do anything. .   I switched as the Antilles were fun pvp back in the day but not now.

No way in hell would Brits on either server uphold a dedicated defense of Bridgetown. Without teleports it's at least a 2 hour sail which heavily limits those who can attend and the port is so far away that any resources would require intense cargo hauing which barely anybody will do. So why would anybody divert resources and time to such a far away port when even in the first iteration post wipe resources where quite within reach.

:) Damn that's a bleak version but hey to each its own.

Anyway, those same newbies will learn ( the same you did, the same I did, the same we all did ) and things will change and yadda yadda yadda

They don't learn they leave! They leave the game as the current PvP marks system actively encourages hitting those who don't know how to defend themselves. That is just majorly retarded. And Jamaica has never been more then everybodys favourite target. Expanding in all directions is a joke when you constantly have to turn around to protect the new players and you'd have to hold a third of the map jsut to keep your capital away from the borders. While a year ago that was managable due to good resources and Jamaica being turned into a fortress it can no longer be done with the shite that island provides. So all major clans leave to have a decent production somewhere else and that makes the new players even more vulnerable.

Please for the love of teh entity whose existence I continue to doubt play the game first before throwing claims like that around. It is something the devs themselves should try every once in a while to experience their own development. It would most certainly rid us of a lot of these compeltely delusional claims.

  12. Ignore what I wrote above. @Remus How about...

to each calculator I add a LH extraction field (effectively iron and coal divided by 8 (bit more complicated for charcoal)), a field for LH total (adds those to the cannon LH), a field that multiplies the final LH by 100 and a grand total field that adds that LH cost to the production cost.

Pricing for 1 Labour Hour would be set at 100 - if people wish to run special prices I may add an option for that later on.

Does that sound good? (might take a bit to introduce as I suck at math (formulas are Juds work :D )

  13. I may add a LH claculator. It would be an additional thing as the main calculator is meant for the base production cost!

It would allow you to type in the amount of LH used and simply multiply them by 100. You'd have to add it up yourself then still. People should ahve no trouble of doing the x100 on their own but I guess for convinience it can be done.

    Screw and ignore this!!!

  14. 11 minutes ago, Krumpf said:

Labor is valued at 100g per labor hour

True-ish. Sadly for a standardized spreadsheet this cannot be fully included. LH are being perceived of different values and are of different value depending on the crafters xp. Also captured resources could allow soembody to produce heavily under price so this spreadsheet is limited to the clearly defineable standards.

I have added a note to the spreadsheet to warn people to expect slightly higher prices as crafters also cover their LH and shipping expenses. Nonetheless this should give a good grip on what expenses to expect or what to bring to at least cover a crafters work.

    Very nice.

    A couple of comments:

    • Labour hours doesn't include harvesting resources or making charcoal, it is only for the gun blueprint
    • The Cost Totals, Iron, Coal and Charcoal requirements on the right are misleading if you are crafting, as you cannot craft in 12s or whatever. But I can see cost totals for odd numbers being useful for pricing a bundle of guns being sold to another playe..

Charcoal of course you can only make 500 at a time (14.6k gold for the oak logs), but this is outside the scope of the spreadsheet.

    Thank you.

    1. Aye it is only for the cannon itself. As resources may be obtained in diffrent ways it would be hard to account for that so only the guarenteed hours are noted.
    2. Exactly. Its meant to help you know the roughly expectable costs when outfitting ships. the 10 steps can just be used as well.
    3. That is noted in the resource list.
  16. As the title says Jud and me (SaltyRoger1516 is my Global account) have created a little overview for the cannon production in terms of costs and requirements. This should help sell them for fair prices/recognising scams. The table shows the crafting requirements for said 10x productions (mortars have their 1x and 68lbs Carronades have a line for 10x and 1x) and each cannon type has a per cannon production cost for those wanting to sell/buy them.

The spreadsheet also includes a calculator with which you can calculate upcoming production costs/requirements. Only the green spaces are editable (or they should be the only ones^^)! Bear in mind that while you can set any number of cannons production on most of them can only be done in sets of ten.

Enjoy, we will try to keep it up to date and should any problems arise gimme a shout either in this or via PM!

    Cheers

    Jolly/Salty and Jud :P
