Like someone else have said before, it would be a fantastic add on after the game is finished; as in the mechanic and core plans are finished.
I just don't get why people in here are so adamant into something great when its even optional in some cases -- UWO wise not POTBS, I know POTBS relied so much on land battle, this annoyed me as well.
I'm currently writing a proposal for avatar right now, might take a few days or so. I like the idea of captain quarters though, but walking around every port with an avatar might be too much for the devs to handle so I won't be too pushy about that

Yup another day to sink ships, and the next day and the next next day. Sounds very cool.
So what if it gets idea from other games? Those features are what kept the players and the game going. I want this game to thrive rather than get stale after a few months. Yes we probably have a few players here who would just fight and fight and never getting bored but that's only the minority and they can't keep a game going.

Yes this is a naval game. Yes this is currently in Alpha. Yes portside business, avatar, land style free-roaming should be 2nd choice.
I'm appalled towards some players here who says "naye" towards POTBS/UWO avatar style.. I mean, it's like another gameplay, an instance for example where you can simply trade and socialize with other players. Why WOULD you not want that!?
It's not about the dev focusing on it entirely cause we know their goals, they'll figure out economy, conquest, etc eventually but this would be A GREAT addition to say the least.
If the dev can't handle an actual avatar exploration free-roaming in the ports then a Port Royale kind of a thing would do, perhaps as a place holder till Game-Labs get enough budget for one?
I would be somewhat dissapointed if in the future, there's no plans for free-roaming within the ports honestly. POTBS & UWO had them and they were amazing; to trade, to fight, to socialize..

Modules are always a good idea, it makes a ship unique to its counterparts and like someone else said in here, I can support the dev if there's a premium spot for the modules in any way; win win situation.

I'm not sure what the NA ratio is, but i know that Archeage uses 10 min Real Time for 1 hour in-game, resulting in a 4-hour day in ArcheAge.
The system seems to work nicely, and there is even a sort of clock at the top right of the UI that tells you the exact in-game time when you mouse over it.
Like this and if I may recommend, kindly go watch Black Desert Online's day/night cycle. I won't even ask Game-Labs because Unity 4 will restrict them too much.

Yup, add a captain at least and I'll be happy in the long run and a sailor for each cannon would be great and if you wanna impress all of us, do it like Empire Total War

Yeah, I agree. I can mostly see the difference most of the time but it would definitely be nice if there's an icon or color change or font style difference between players and AI.
