Would promote more pvp if players can get a money back, but for those that I know will say that this feature will get rid the thrill of the risk factor in the game.
What? having ship insurance will only increase that risk factor since you actually only have one ship and no magic durabilities!

I agree as well.
In this case, it's more of a realism versus convenience but the problem at the moment is that these two factors are always clashing within one another and it sort of makes a complicated scenario every time a suggestion comes up.
In UWO -- once again, I keep bringing it up but its a good comparison -- we never lose ship, unless you sell it or trade it. We had insurance system for the ship as well but it was very weak, it would merely take away at most 10k gold everyday and well I can easily get 1m a day in the game and others can make much much more so I propose a really heavy insurance as to not belittle it.
Definitely, I don't want a precious ship to sink or get stolen easily as I probably put so much into it -- adding the fact that ship-building will be available later on.
Though, I can imagine many users here disagreeing with this honestly, goodluck.
well the insurance would be proportional to the cost of the ship. Basically Eve online insurance.

The more I play the more I see a need for ship insurance as well. Instead of the magical replacements we get now. When you lose a ship you should feel that you actually lost that ship. The positives are that you do get some money back from the insurance depending on which type of insurance you purchased for your vessel. This money can then be used to purchase the vessel again or try a different one. This will force players to be less aggressive with the ships they currently have imo.

Did you hit home and freecam way out from your ship? If so, you have sailed beyond the max rendering distance from your ship. Sail closer if so.
In fact, I map a ton, I am constantly using freecam way out beyond the free rendering distance so I can draw the landscape. I am 95% sure that you have used freecam to go out too far from your ship because that is exactly what it looks like.
yeah I used freecam, that makes sense.

I've found that even players from other nations than your own will gift you captured vessels if you join their battle on their side. I guess its nice and should continue even on actual release.

It's fair the Swedes get this ship but the Norwegians should also get their ship. This way all nations except the US can have super powerful ships.

Destroyed after several hours of battle with the english ships STATELY and HMS Nassau
The most interesting thing about the whole thing is that HMS Nassau was originally named HMS Holsteen and was a 60-gun Danish lineship as well.
Poor Danish and Sweedish getting all their ships boarded or destroyed O__O

so you're basically a freelancer doing this for fun but hoping that GameLabs will take an interest in your ship and buy it from you?

All the "beautiful pictures" of Open World so far don't have them when they include ships. I hope they stay gone when others are involved.
In real life you would call a target ship not the name of the commander of a ship.
Please no names in game or give us the options.
