Sir Cloudsley-Shovell
It would be nice to see Capt James Vancouvers ship,HMS Discovery in the game. Discovery was launched in 1789 and purchased for the Navy in 1790.She was named after the previous Discovery(Capt J Cook). She was a 10 Gun Survey Vessel(later a Bomb Vessel,Bomb vessel: 1 x 13" mortar + 1 x 10" mortar + 8 x 24-pounder Carronades + 2 x 6-pounder guns) As a Survey Vessel she had 10 x 4-pounder guns (short)+ 10 x ½-pounder swivel guns. She had a Compliment of 100(including a "Widows Man" Length: 99 ft 2 in (30.23 m) (overall) 77 ft 8 in (23.67 m) (keel) Beam: 28 ft 3 1⁄4 in (8.617 m) Depth of hold: 12 ft 4 in (3.76 m) The Vessel in the background is HMS Chatham, she accompanied HMS Discovery on her Voyage of Discovery. Certified2Fly
I'd sail her. Perhaps there will be a discovery feature in open world that rewards you for discovering new areas, similar to that of Elite Dangerous. Although Elite Dangerous has the entire galaxy to discovery and we will only have islands to discover.
Alex Connor
Plan (only a profile, but the RMG seems to have the full hull lines if anyone is interested) In green are modifications made by the navy. Like the Endeavour and Resolution she was a merchant collier purchased by the Royal Navy for use in exploration. So would make a very useful mid-sized merchant ship regardless of how much of a role exploring has in NA.
