Added the boys ontop. For which I've used the child figure from b2przemo @Blendswap

Never thought it would be so addictive to make 3D models- 1

I've found a 'standard' female figure, as I'm not pro enough to make my own, so I think it's allowed to be used in creative commons I've clad her and gave her some hair and posed her in the same way. I hope I won't go over the poly count too much
This is the model I use for reference:

It's a bit different. But yes, it's a yacht, a luxury ship. Not a ship of the line.
EDIT: oh and two less guns. This one has 8, the yacht currently already in the game has 10. And I don't know if this one will even be added to the game eventually, but here's hoping

A status update with a shot with natural perspective. Added flag pole, curved the curl at the top and added another strip =) Oh and the windows on the oriels and the oriels themselves have gotten an extra frame.

about the model:
comes along nicely! keep the good work up!
Thanks! I'm still fairly new to 3D modelling and learning new things along the way, which sometimes results in me removing some stuff and redoing them from scratch. I'm dreading the UV unwrapping though xD

BungeeLemming is on the right track here. This yacht is of the Dutch type "platbodem" ('flat bottom' as BlueEagleGER correctly corrected). As mentioned these ships have a relatively small keel. This allows them to sail through very shallow waters or even on low tide rest on the sea bottom, but the downside to this is that with winds coming from the side the ship will drift far more than desired. To battle this the boards on the side, as said before are called "zwaarden" ('swords' literally translated), were lowered into the water on the leeward side of the ship. One of the most famous examples is the Frisian (a northern province of the Netherlands) "Tjalk".

Been working on the stern a bit, all still WIP:

Thanks! Did you do/visit anything else besides het Muiderslot ("the Castle of Muiden")? Interesting that the Sehnsucht visited the Netherlands. It's a German replica.
This is the second time for me actually doing something like this I modelled a Dutch intercity train carriage for Rail Simulator (now Train Simulator) once, but didn't finish it, 'cus my 3dsmax expired. Also nice reference material I found in these photos of this model: http://www.historische-modellschiffe.com/index.php/grosse-jacht

This is what I have concocted so far:

Statenjacht: Utrecht
That's not a merchant ship That's the equivalent of a Bentley's or Rolls Royce: it's a very expensive passenger vessel for the "Well-to-do" and Royalty

Can't help to think that the name's a too modern concept I guess I'm just a nit-picker like that

There's even a replica currently active it seems, called "Sehnsucht":

Not quite =)

Well it says english subs.... so I was doing google translate to order but it only delivers to netherlands or belgium.
Guess you will have to find somebody you can trust to pay in advance and then ship it to you =)
-
Found some pictures of wooden models of the ship. And I thought of giving this little thing a go in blender. I'm still a bit of a rookie so it will take long for me
I got as far as the hull today =)- 3

Thanks Wicked. I tried to order it from bol.com but they do not deliver to Australia even though blu ray region is the same
They don't make it easy.
Besides that, since it's a Dutch release, it may not have English subs for the Dutch parts

I always wonder why Naval Action didn't try crowd funding tbh.
They are, in a way, with "Early Access" pre-purchases. They already had the funds to start and they wouldn't necessarily need the pre-purchases, but they opened it to build a "testing team" of "early backers" that would like to test their game already, despite being it in a basic state. If you want you can donate extra cash and get a surprise in-game rewards (yet to be determined). So in a way it's crowd funded.

Thanks wicked mouse... I only buy blu rays though. I wonder why a modern film would not come on blu ray?
The original release is on Blue-Ray: http://www.bol.com/nl/p/michiel-de-ruyter/9200000041288638/ Maybe the international releases will come on blue-ray later.

Not sure you should be linking that...

I've just watched it, and I generally do not like movies of my own country all that much, because often I see so much the forced acting, but this movie is pretty well done, I might say. It's a movie of 2,5 hours long and it gives a rough outline of the kind of man he was (I think) and the political situation at that time. The most noticible thing that kinda bothered me was the thing that the raid on the medway was presented as a singular tactical attack, out of the blue. While the raid on Chatham was a retaliation attack after the Holme's Bonfire the year before. Apart from that of course there was more to mr De Ruyter than you could possibly put in a 2,5 hours feature film
All-in-all a pretty good watch. I enjoyed it!
For those in the States or UK that wanna purchase it: Amazon in the USA and Amazon in the UK offer it for sale. The DVD is called "Admiral: Command and Conquer" for some odd reason. Have fun watching, chaps!

Alright, I guess the Dutch made similar frigates of the same name
-
Not to sound like a total history buff, but wouldn't it be more fit to call yourselves West India Company or something similar? Since the Dutch Antilles as such didn't 'exist' until the 1950ies

Is this the same Minerva I found here? Or different ship?
As the same website also has some stuff of Pallas:
'Golden' Yacht 8-Guns (With Plans)
in Unrated and other light combat vessels

Thanks a lot! Really starting to enjoy it and learning a LOT, thanks to YouTube
Here's another overview shot. Added the lamp, have yet to do the statues on that:
