His negotiating tactics? Slash and burn

Well since we've got some WW2 stuff...
Das Boot
Stalingrad
Not a movie but a three part series

Movie was alright but this scene, which ends the movie, was top notch. Scaled down of course, pretty faithful representation of the pike and shot era

Napoleonic Anthem
But quite frankly, I think I may have Royalist sympathies... how can you not after listening to this.
One for the Spaniards

It's a color/colour kind of thing. Both are right, depends on your flavor.

One of my favorite ships
-
Is a matter of logic, as a razee has a bigger hull and is also heavier than a constitution, due the hull in excess in the razee, that does not have the constitution if you see the photos, and the constitution is heavier because it has more armor, and I am talking about a razee with the same armor of a constitution.
Except your logic is faulty. Especially concerning the two ships you're comparing.

Your deductive reasoning or do you have evidence to back this up?

My apologies. My brain turned the angels into angles and didn't spot them. Not much of an editor

Wonderful news! Though I would have preferred the Temeraire or Tonnant as we already have two first rates, any Jacques-Noel Sane ship that makes it to the game is a good thing.

Unless the opposing team has also read the guide, and pulls to leeward, shooting at masts. The guide admits that this meta is practically unbeatable.
So the admiral needs to engage in a game of chicken, feinting to leeward in order to make his opponent mirror the move, then stealing the wind with the smallest possible margin of error.
Indeed. The margin for error is even smaller in group battles because the discipline needed to retake the wind is seldom present.
The outcome of these battles can and is usually decided within the first two to five minutes. Once wind is conceded it's lights out, merely a matter of time. Shooting at masts is only effective if the charging team does to line astern rather than line abreast.

Excellent. You go with that theory. You are 100% right...
When put into action on Trafalgar, and people actually listen, it is a complete wipe out. Without fail, ever single time.

Way off topic, BUT, given the odd hull shape of the turtle boat, is this the oddest shaped steel hull you've ever seen or what? It's the French Battleship Charles Martel.
Or this one, the Carnot

Captains would still be brought to a military court on account of losing their ships, despite the outcome of the battles. This is the absolute opposite of the rewarding winning side even if you lose your ship. Obviously this cannot be modeled correctly for simple sea trial but could be included in the OW mode. Could be interesting to have such mechanics work along with "naval record" Reputation of sorts.
Let's not get carried away...
What will constitute this board? Will it be made up of players or will it be an automated mechanic? The former will lead to politicking and acrimony, the latter will seldom hit the mark.
It may serve the RP players, to an extent, but the vast majority of people would find going to a "military court" thanks to actions in game a bit tedious to say the least.
Some things really don't add to the enjoyment of the game, this would be a waste of resources for little gain, in my humble opinion.

You should all be glad he wrote it, I was trying to make sense of all of this over skype Hence my little diagrams. Schuetzengel, those gifs are excellent.
Grim, it is form both. They apply to whichever situation you find yourself in.

I prefer the yacht over the privateer. She turns very sluggish by comparison.

What, the tugboats? Well it sort of does if they insist on claiming it is still sailing. It may not matter to you, but the old girl has seen better days. Idolizing things and people sets one up for disappointment.

Does the Navy describe her as 'seaworthy?'
You realize she hasn't done anything except sail in a straight line since the 1930s? And since 1992-ish she just gets pushed around Boston harbor by tugboats with her topsails set.
I'm trying to find a video of her sailing in the harbor without a tug along side, in which her sails are actually full and drawing, not sagged against the tops in a flat calm.
Come on, I like her as much as the next guy but be honest with yourselves, Maturin's right. She's a barge with masts for all intents and purposes at this point. She hasn't sailed under her own power in decades.
The title in this video tells you why the navy continues to call her sea worthy.
Bragging rights over HMS Victory which is in truth the oldest commissioned warship in the world by several decades. No tugboats means no more claiming the title with the dubious disclaimer.
