Well play another game lol. The game is for hardcore players who love the hardcore game, not for the developers money or for players who don’t see the developers game to be fun. If the game ain’t for you, it ain’t for you, move on and stop whining.

Made a good laugh...I don’t see anything hardcore in this game where a simple turn that would take hours in real life can be achieved in one or two minutes...sailing is pretty straight forward, not that complicated...even the shooting is simplified.

Hardcore would be doing it like in real life, but then on the other hand I would have officers and gunners who can think for 2 cents and don’t shoot when there is not target in front of them.

The only „hardcore“ things are game mechanics that make some pretty straight forward things unnecessary complicated.

Oh, and every game is „for the developers money“ because, we’ll, they want to earn money with it.

this is not a problem AI fleets offer higher reward than combat orders and therefore a risk must be included to keep said "better drops" more rare/expensive. captains knew the risks of the sea's and in truth no reward without risk. i think its fine as it is

Then they maybe should never close so assistance can still join later on.

True, there should be a risk, but some information what’s going on in the surrounding would be helpful.

We dont want to waste your time of course.
Thats why there are also 1500 bots cruising the world. And there are some chokepoints where they concentrate.
With new tutorial where we rank up the player to M&C rank the need for light enemies becomes smaller and we can change the bot composition on the OW to provide much better options for hunting for hardcore pve fans (who dont mind some risk for occasional pvp).

Don’t worry sir, it’s not a waste of time since it is my decision if I want to play. I just appreciated the opportunity to do quick missions in the past.

You need to play this in long terms. You can not have all at once, quickly, immediately.

People play this for years now, and many including me, still don`t know everything and can do everything.

Yeah sure, I have „only“ about 550 hours and the game since 2014.

I am well aware that playing a game with those ships takes more time, still it would be nice to have the chance to do some quick action.

So what is the point? What do missions offer ai fleets don’t , except less loot , less of a challenge , and ai fleets  are right outside your port , in fact they will happily sail to you while your sat outside fishing.

The „problem“ I personally have with that change is, like stated before, that I simply don’t always have that much time to spend. With the missions we have at the moment I have the opportunity to do one or two quick missions and then go to work or do other things I have to do.

And the other thing that bothers me is, that when I do a mission I can relax, against AI I can get attacked by other players. Now don’t get me wrong, that’s not a bad thing in general, but when I attack an AI fleet and get then attacked by an player I didn’t see before in OW it’s just „unrealistic“ because I would have seen him before and at least annoying when I just want some fast action in between.

Maybe some thing could be implemented that when one is in Battleinstance he can check if there are other players in the OW near him or closing in to him. Would be helpful and not unrealistic because even in a battle I would have some guys to check if there are some other guys around me, taking into account things work much faster in game than in real life.

  6. I like to play on the PVP Server, because there is simply not enough PVE content on the PVE Server to do for several hundreds of hours.

I play on the PvP server because I want to do PvP and Port battles and so on but I also want quick action when I don’t have much time at the moment.

I also don’t have a problem with replacing the Missions with other content, but I find it a bit unrealistic to sail around aimlessly just to find an player to fight against considering not all countries are at war with each other the whole time.

Actually they did. in fact all of the ship losses of the navies were because someone sent them there.

I highly doubt they would send a ship like the Victory somewhere on its own without assistance if the know there are quite some threats around.

And by the way it would help very much in a discussion not to change the posts afterwards. No offense intended.

All this "Think about new players"

New players don't cancel missions. Everything is cool and shiny for them. They take an order and sail.
Its old grumpy experienced veterans (who know the tricks) cancel missions to find a better spot.

Orders cannot be declined. 3 declines of orders from the admiralty agents is already too much.

On the other hand the „Admirality“ won’t send me on a search and destroy mission on my own when there could be multiple threats on the way.

That whole admirality thingy isn‘t the way it would have worked in real life, because I as captain wouldn’t have to pay my ship.

And not everyone would be an enemy because not every nation was at war with everyone else all the time.

Mission cancellation has nothing to do with hunters. its a war-game and declining orders 20 times per day never went well for any career officers.
Our position on missions is/was clear. We prefer players to find hunting spots which will GREATLY increase the experience because many NPC routes provide the option to hunt without any time spent on long journeys, such places exist. It seems that many players would just prefer - PVE battle button in the lobby.

Reinforcements will still be strong (and everyone would agree that no sane lord of the admiralty will send 2 first rates to protect against a frigate attack)

Would have been a rather short career if Admiral Lord Nelson would have had to buy his ships on his own...

Greatly increased experience would be the proper tools for navigation and the use of them, for example, and not sailing into one direction for a certain time and maybe we get to where we want.

Jump out of port hit an AI fleet , you have numerous outposts with numerous ai fleets outside for a quick fight or to test a new build or speed of a new ship.

Sometimes I think people see problems that aren’t truly there.

Why would you need to spend hours doing that?

Sure, I can attack an AI Fleets, there’s no problem with it, except I can do Missions in relative safety for when I want to.

The thing is, I understand that there are people who want more PVP and on the PVP-Server it’s understandable, I see it more as Nation against Nation. But: I don’t think limit the mission cancelling will get us or anybody more PVP fights.

In my opinion there will be people who take it as it is and sail to the missions no matter where they are, then we will have people who shift more to PVP (or maybe not) and then there surely will be people who switch the server or quit the game completely.

Now some will say maybe not a big loss, but like I stated before, we sadly don’t have the biggest playerbase and there was nothing wrong with the PVE Missions, they worked perfectly the way they were. I like to compare it to a flight sim, there you won’t have the biggest playerbases too compared to other games, so one has to keep the people happy, after all we, who love the game, and the devs who made it, live of the fan/playerbase.

Maybe its the right move? Time will tell. But at least I think it’s quite a hard break with what we had before.

In truth the question one should ask is: Do I ?

    Why play games...why indeed...

True, but one has to take into account how much time one is able to put into a game. (Or his hobby in general).

A game like Naval Action is quite a niche game compared with other genres and I don’t know if it is wise to make it even „harder“ for new >and< „part time“ players to enjoy it. Don’t get me wrong, I like the sailing and I mostly like pvp even if I‘m not always the winner, but some times I just want to do a quick fight or test something new without spending hours of just sailing around reading a book till I get to my destination.

Captain this is a friendly development forum where we all gathered to have a good time. The fact that you dont like something does not make it stupid. Such language makes it harder to connect with you and your feedback.

Cancellation limit is a step forward (the proper step would be complete removal of missions), limits on cancellations is a good compromise.

Admiralty sends you to the mission you honestly cannot argue with the mission location. Historically if you declined orders you would be demoted or fired.

Workaround is simple - If you dont like the mission - sail out to OW there are plenty of NPCs.
Or wait until next day. You get 3 more cancellations attempts.
Even Eve limits mission cancellations by a significant drop in agent reputation.

The proper step surely would not be the complete removal.

I could live with a longer way to missions if OW-„Sailing“ wouldn‘t be just „I‘m about there and I want to go somewhere over there so the course should be about that...now where is my book?“ but why should I watch my ship sailing without the need to do anything, only to risk that I lose a ship I spent hours of my time to get it by some gankers?

Like I said before not everyone has the time to play the whole day and limiting the time and fun of those with less time will just lead them away.

People forget that mission spawn distance already is closer in the lower rank you are.  No more rear admirals cancelling missions over and over so they can grind first rates in peace.

Three a day is plenty for a casual player, who might only DO three missions in a day.

On the other hand I need much longer to reach a far mission with a bigger ship and not everyone can spend hours a day playing this game just sailing to missions when there would be enough other things they could implement to make the game more enyojable.

If I want to so long trading runs or OW hunting it doesnt matter if I need a bit longer, but not if I just want to do two or three missions before I have to leave for other things.

I can understand that some people just want to sink others, but I don’t know if thats a clever change.

  14. Well, in my opinion the Repair Timer is a bad mechanic anyway.

We talk about „real“ fighting and sailing but have a weird repair timer. It would be far more realistic and useful to use repair as long as you want but you are limited by the repairs you have in board and your crew.

You can set up a new mast as long as you have spare parts on board and a big part of the crew can‘t do anything else while repairong. Same with the hull. You have 600 crew on board and you Need 300 for repairing the ship, so you have only 300 left for the other stuff. You can repair as long as you want and/or you have materials available, but then you will be effective out of battle for a while. And one should only be able to repair minor damage, and not whole masts in a matter of minutes.

Speaking of the crew it would be also helpful to be able to decide on your own how many mens I want assigned to my guns or sailing.

But in general limiting some type of ammo (or all kinds of it) can be good, so why not test it before complaining about it.
