I must confess that I prefer the sound of actually sailing to the destination rather than the automatic teleport to it to enter the battle. Reinforcements entering the battle and then making their own influence et cetera. It would also promote working together as a defending/attacking nation would have to be prepared to deal with the opposition, coming together beforehand.

There has already been a thread on this. I believe that Crankey started it with regards to gaining titles for specific things such as peerages and ranks.
-
I think that is a spectacular picture Brigand, always nice to have a chuckle.
-
There has already been a thread about fictional ships. Almost the entire population was opposed. I shall look for the thread when I get a chance.

This is alpha and everyone knew that when they signed up for it. The game shall develop and people will return. Prior to open testing before steam being available there were some occasions when 1 or 2 of us were online. We were there for testing and we knew that. New features shall be included, when the new ships are introduced then the players shall spike again. Open world is currently being worked on and that is a feature that shall change the death match engagement.
I would say that the population is levelling out. When something is new then everyone is on and so you get high numbers. Given some time that number always levels out but nevertheless there will be members still testing the areas that the developers want testing.

This is nice but I would rather see the original HMS Barfleur of 1768 or its 1780 upgrade to more guns being added on the quarterdeck. HMS Britannia was renamed to Barfleur once the original had been broken up the same year 1819.
Nevertheless an interesting find Wind.

I believe that you shall be seeing her within a few patches/updates.
-
She certainly is an absolute beauty. She was also one of the most tried and tested units of the Royal Navy.
-
Agreed although HMS Barfleur was not included in the voting. That being said variety is required with regards to implementing ships from different nations so I shall just stay my course and shall await when it is decided to bring the Barfleur into the game no matter how long that shall be I'm sure she shall be seen in the end.

I'm currently talking to them with regards to getting it implemented. So perhaps it will happen (I do hope so). Question is would you rather see the original 90 gun ship or the refit to 98 guns? Perhaps we could start off with the 90 gun version and then the mechanics of the game would allow guns to be added to the quarterdeck to make it its latter 98.

In the game they were the most accurate thing that you could imagine.

Nothing wrong with a drop down menu however if it is just a button like in potbs where you say dispose of 20% of your guns then you cannot specify what you want to drop unless of course that button opens up the drop down menu where you can say what you want to get rid of. I suppose I meant the button should not come along with a standalone figure to drop like it is in PotBS.
I would rather be able to specify what I wanted to get rid of whether it be livestock, cannons, cargo and I would also like to say how much.
-
The real question would be as to how they would implement it. What sort of design would you like to see in order to dump certain items whether it be cannons, cargo or loot overboard? (I know for certain that I do not want a dump guns icon like potbs).
-
It's certainly coming along nicely.
-
Guns, cargo and whatever would lighten the load. It would be nice to see some option of this in the game where a merchantman for instance is forced to choose whether to run the risk of losing just some or all of their cargo. Not that dumping guns or cargo would be a guarantee of escape though.

I'm well aware of the limited resources and as a personal preference I really don't particularly concern myself with the American vessels as I'm a Royal Navy Captain however I was merely offering alternatives to the debate. I do believe though that with the frigates/schooners/sloops et cetera that the US Navy shall have a plethora to choose from at the final release.
-
I was making the remark for American players who wish to sail American ships of the line. That is what I understood this thread to be about, not about them being able to sail French warships. I am well aware of the service record and the fact that it was a pretty unremarkable ship, however it was one of the few American ships of the line that I could find within the time frame. Lets not use this thread to promote other ships due to their Napoleonic wars status, lets just to stay on topic about America and the prospect of them having ships of the line that they built.

I agree with Brigand that I would like to see the developers focus on the core game first. We have yet to see what awaits though when everything is established and perhaps when the Naval aspect of the game is completed then you would see more effort in the land based/character tasks.
-
I don't see why you cannot have a US ship of the line. For instance you could have USS America of 1780. Granted she was handed over to the French at the end of her maiden voyage but she is technically an American built 74.

An 80 gun vessel is technically a third rate (according to the Royal Navy rated system) so that wouldn't be applicable for a second rated ship (this is referencing the time of the Bucentaure as ships from the 1740s and earlier would have fallen into the second rate category of 80 guns yet the Bucentaure comes a great deal later than that). I can't recall if 80 guns comes under a second rate for the French system however although I don't believe that it does.
-
America did make a 74 within the timeline and it was handed to the French, perhaps that one would be implemented.
-
Or we could put HMS Barfleur in and I shall donate money to have it done
Mind you adding both would be a plus too!
-
Nice to have the function.
-
There has already been threads with regards to this and the general consensus would like to see them in game, however lets not jump the gun. There is a lot to be done with the game before we can even look to this sort of implementation.

I've been gone a long time, was anything ever decided on HMS Barfleur?
