  1. I’d be interested to know what the financial implications would be to get this warship into the game. As much as I’m certain that my misses wouldn’t be happy, I would very much consider sponsoring getting this ship from wonderful pictures etc to a tangible object within the naval action world.

  2. It's happened, there is no point in continuing to go on about what was promised by the developers etc. At the end of the day it is your choice whether you wish to play the game or not, and it is the developers choice to amend decisions. At this stage I'd say just wipe the bloody lot, names, clans and so forth. Yes there is still a lot of work to be done, but I'm looking forward to it regardless.

  3. If the accused had fired upon his own ships would he not be entering piracy? As the Sea Trials now have the report function perhaps this section should become the 'Wanted' section for pirates. This way pirates can experience what I hope they do when the game is released and that is the playerbase hunting them down.

  4. Flag Captain is merely a name for one of the Captains on an Admiral's flagship. I think that some have been confusing this rank with that of the Admiral's rank. Technically you could have multiple Flag Captains as they could be a Flag Captain in one battle and not another. It is much the same as Commodore in the fact that they are both temporary roles. Commodore/Senior Captain could be split if you would like to have a few more ranks. Therefore you would be Post, then Senior, Commodore and then Flag Captain (or reverse the two). Depending on age too we could go with. There are multiple forms of Captain as it would be based on years of service. A Captain of 1 year would have a different uniform that one of 3 years for example. So should you wish to split it into Captain (1), Captain (3+) and then move into higher ranks that could also be viable.

You have to think that there should be roughly 3 Admirals per 20-25 players if we are to take the average of the time. Should you wish to get rid of a few then we could always do what was done to Byng, or as Voltaire so aptly put it "in this country, it is good to kill an admiral from time to time, in order to encourage the others".

  5. I just wish to bring this topic back. Before everyone gets defensive and says that there should not be another British ship I have already offered to donate towards this one and merely put it forward as she is a true second rate. Not many nations built second rates and truth be told it was due to them not being fantastic as they were not as powerful as a first rate and not as manoeuvrable as a third. Their main strength was the added gun deck to impose upon the enemy or for boarding (defensive and offensive) and the fact that the enemy mistook them for firsts. Plus they were cheaper than firsts.

  6. It's a tactical decision that needs to be made to prevent the fire. There would always be an order somewhere in the chain to get more of the crew to combat the blaze. Personally I believe that it should remain as is rather than the game doing it for you. This would mean that a Captain that is aware shall survive by assigning more crew (survival) to deal with it rather than one that is not aware and only leaves the original handful shall die.

  7. It's a difficult topic. I'm sure that it could tweaked a little however crew loss was not as substantial as you may think. It all depended on the engagement. There are multiple battles at sea where ships only lost a few killed and wounded. Take The Glorious First of June as an example. It lasted for 5 days and yet British casualties amounted to roughly 1200 (I understand that this is in part due to French tactics firing aloft). However 1200 divided between 25 ships of the line which had perhaps 600 on board each as they were severely reduced is not a huge loss. Camperdown where the Dutch much like the British fired to kill still doesn't have the sort of casualties that I think you are asking from the game. I believe that raking fire should definitely impact crew more and grape to some degree should be improved. Grapeshot however would have been more for clearing the open decks so should crew management change such as in the implementation of "prepare to board" or something along those lines or if you should be taller than your opponent that should determine its ultimate effectiveness.
