I had 2300hrs before taking a very long break, came back and now at 2700+ hours spent in this game, hours literally spent for most part, i like sailing and hauling things in traders, like the pvp, but since i came back even this became ridiculous with the OW and battles sessions speeds and ships all turned into mortorboats, you don't have any feeling of achievement in game anymore, at the start when there was no productions buildings and shortage of materials i had to resolve myself in making a trip from the French islands to the US coasts at the opposite side of the map to get some iron and hemp in the remaining French cities in Louisiana, we went with 2 other guys, the travel took us like 4 or maybe 5 hours, once arrived you had the feeling of having accomplished something, when coming back with your materials if was really something nice too, now all went easy and arcade mode with some f2p games mechanics like grind and RNG silly drops, the only thing you really need to do is grind cash doing some really boring stuff, again and again.

Now beside the ranks or craft level you don't get anymore such feeling of accomplishing something in game, just endless grind bringing you nowhere it seems, and even then now after so many efforts you have to grind again, even small ships like the Niagara reintroduced feels like a pain to get back with the requirements needed and you can loose everything you worked for very hard extremely easily, everything you gathered or built can be lost in a few hours if some decide to flip the region with the actual raising hostilities mechanics that are just stupid from my point of view, turning entire regions to another color with a couple of pve work and one PB won is a disaster mechanic.

You miss a couple of days in game and you lost all you worked hard for, clan warehouse and stuff stored inside it, shipyards, workshop, buildings... as long as you don't go for the most secure place that are capitals... that are secure for storing or building stuff but also the most insecure to access them or do anythings around them with all hordes of players searching for easy preys and nothing done to prevent them, at contrary it seems all is still done to encourage this even more... If game was back to the population it used to have you will find players in OW at many different spots, not have to search 2 hours, or only come around capitals, to find some...

This game became a very long grind taking hundred of hours in game that can end up and break you up in a blink, but the fun factor, the entertainment or achievements factors are missing, it's just an empty egg with false content in it like i said earlier, a mirage of content only ... just grind and grind again but nothing in the end as a kind of "moral" reward.

I saw countless of new players asking some infos in chat on them first days, after a few days you don't hear them anymore, they just stopped to play and went to other things more entertaining, and nobody can blame them for that, all is done to discourage them it seems, myself i don't know if i will hit the 3k hours before stopping to care about the game again, taking another long break and just come back for the release to see if it is worth it investing more time in the game, the last changes i saw seems to indicate that it will never turn into the game many of us have dreamed of when they saw the various announcements for planned things at start, it's sad to see such great potential destroyed.

Never made a single review for a game on Steam, no matter if really good or really bad, but the day the things will be set in stone for this game, the day it will be released, it will be the first one i will do one review for, the level of promises we got, the level of reasonable expectations this game gave me, and probably gave to many of us, compared to the level of disappointment it actually brings will make me spend a few hours typing another long wall of words for it. I really hope when the day will come i will have only nice things to say about it due to changes made and things arranged but right now i don't get my hopes really high.

I think Donald Trump has found his wall maker :D

Back on topic, Kanay knows how I feel with this game, we speak a lot about how the game has changed since the early days. I feel he has worded it perfectly and due to discussions I can relate to how he came to his conclusions.

I personally do not like the direction this game is going towards, I gave it the benefit of the doubt after the "Great Wipe" but this new patch is turning this once enjoyable game into a FiFa ranking system.... The in game mechanics that one "Nation" **lol** can exploit to there cause... is the last straw for me.... Outlaw Battles are abused and well you cannot blame the Pirates for using them  since the Devs thought it was an "epic" idea to give them a mechanic they can exploit that other nations cannot.

The Futuristic stealth technology after OW PvP and the Caterpillar diesel engines that they allow the Players to have to escape any direction is a joke.  This game in my eyes had great potential and I was starting to enjoy coming back... not anymore...

A simple message for the Devs and the "LMAO" tester.... you guys have gone and "FCUKED IT UP"... I have not made steam reviews for this game yet.... but I sense if this game is not renamed Gank Action... or Exploit Action then I will happily leave this game and write an honest review... Why join any other Nation when you can have the same plus and added perk which no one else gets.....?

ALTS in other nations spying and ruining any Surprise you plan... **I weeded one out of AUSEZ last night** I see this ship is sinking *Gank/Exploit/Pirate Action*  (oops "Naval" Action) and well only the captain **The Devs and Testers* should go down with his ship.... I'm out...

Enjoy your game guys..... those who stay and brave it out... you have my full respect... but I cannot sit back supporting a game that I personally do not enjoy playing at the moment and it seems I'm forced to play.  I don;t want to wake up at 5 AM to do PB's therefore I cannot be a burden on my Clan.  It was perfect having a global server due to having an angry wife and 2 young kids... I could log on and find action that the EU server could not offer..... but the last PB's have been US prime Time.... not good for a Russkie....

No hate towards anyone who plays this game daily, Yes I upset a few in Global chat ;) but hey if you don;t have banter inter Nation..... You might as well play the Sims :)

Anyway... cheerio guys o7 I might see you in the future... only the Devs can decide that fate... enjoy your ships o7 but not even Rick Astley can keep his promise in this situation. One for the road..

It was successful in its job, demasting the SoLs.

it played the role of a screening ship in this game.

He asked for proof, I gave him proof.. you can try twisting the facts any direction you want... but the brig took on and was successful in disrupting an enemy fleet.

Do you a have a historical example of 4-5 light frigates  keeping a fleet of line ships form entering a battle? Or a Ship of the line battle when frigate won? In Naval Action, any competent captain of a light frigate can decimate a first rate. Its a game, get over it. Spare the Naval Academy stuff. Game availible mechanics only.

Pursued by the Turkish Fleet (6 ships of the line, 2 frigates, 2 corvettes), Russian brig Mercury engaged in unequal battle with line ships Selimiye (110 guns) and Real-bei (74 guns) near the Strait of Bosphorus. After damaging the ships one by one, the brig escaped pursuit

    So.... yes

Outlaw battles stay open for the entire 1 hour 30 minutes. Your screeners can enter the battle and fight them or keep them tagged so they cannot leave to enter the port battle.

Though I can see how the outlaw mechanic can be problematic in combination with port battles, I'm not sure this should be characterised as and exploit rather than a mechanics issue.

And spend 1 hour chasing a fleet that has already been sailing in one direction  when you join already away from the "Combat" It is exploiting a game mechanic to assist the Pirate nation in there port battles.

Well, there is several suggestions hidden away in this topic that doesn't have those issues.

Mine is TP to nearest free port but only if you were the "defender" in the battle.

You would have the same troubles then, players would just wait by the free port. I cannot see how a balance can be brought up with this with exploits for traders in Pirate or alts.

People wanted a hardcore PVP game, now they have it they don't want to be ganked themselves. Just cannot see what the devs can do to make it fair for everyone. Maybe have the game how it was this time last year.

If you want to sail with impunity wether in a warship or a trader - go to the dedicated PvE server.. Being ganked or just tagged by a singular hunter is part of the game and I believe most here can attest that I've lost and capped plenty of ships and mostly in good spirits even when I was on the receiving end of a gank.

Please quote me saying I have a problem being attacked... I enjoy PVPing and I have not had an issue with it like others are mentioning in this conversation. I have sunk player ships and captured traders. I cannot find where your argument is as I have not experienced the same problems you and a few others are experiencing. I have yet to lose a ship to PVP or PB *Touch Wood* (Famous last words) but if I'm not having issues then why should I go play on the PVE server? surely if PVPing is such a problem for you then you should go there.

POTBS had  a system you can offer at start of battle when pretty much being tagged to offer part of your cargo.  So something like that where if they put up the surrender and it gives a terms and you accept the battle will be over and they can escape once you pick up the cargo or gold offered in exchange for keeping you ship, but than again loosing your ship is still a risk.  I don't have to keep my agreement once I inspect your cargo.  It's a risk one can take, but I would prob let low levels go if I inspect there cargo's and they pay me a bribe to let them live.  You know like pirates actually did.

I like the suggestion and also what you have included to the gameplay with the idea from POTBS but with this current meta of pvp marks, the chances of allowing the ship to go is a no no.

Welp, maybe its because i'm a big time gangster or something? ;)
I've had only a small amount of PvP battles since the wipe but 7 of the what, 11 times i had a PvP fight, i was revenge ganked or someone tried to revenge gank me. (And no, i wasn't near their waters or their capital most of the times.)

Last time Revenge Fleets were a thing it also happened alot. And well, as soon as people figure out how to do them properly (Most "Revenge Fleets" are making a ton of mistakes atm when it comes to "how to revenge fleet"), you will not be able to escape...
We tested it before, it wasn't good gameplay. TP from Battle Result Screen was introduced for a reason. I'm not sure why Devs think it will change now.

Well a simple solution would be when a ship surrenders or is sunk/captured the captain of said ship is removed from battle so cannot relay when you leave the battle.

This way you are given a private window of the 15 minutes to leave when you require so they would not know when you leave or how far with the invisibility.

Oh, and just for the heck of it here is something my lover @Prater made once upon a time when we discussed this kinda stuff.

Now in fact, OW Speed have been made even higher since Prater made this nice post, so its not entirely accurate (You'd actually travel even further now than what is shown in the quote).
I hope this might make it easier to understand why we think revenge fleets and longer join timers is a problem.

Do you have screenshots in the battle where players joined? was it just 1 clan though or ships that sailed close?

I tagged a guy that was sailing past New Edinburgh towards Cartagena, he called for help... but even ships hunting and about to do missions tried to join but by the time they sailed to the area the Battle was closed.. They could not join.

Thats actually not the reason but okay :)

Your not actually reading the comments i've made, you claim our playstyle is ganking and wanting an easy game, yet you have no idea what our playstyle is.
This is the reason why i call you a troll.

    I'll try again though;

I read everything from the first page until I replied, I reasons stand still. You will not get fleets waiting in port on the of chance there clan mate is getting ganked, they will still need to sail back to a port/change ships/ relocate to come and help there clan mates out. So you already have an advantage. The problems that I see, is ships sailing near the area notice you chasing an allied ship and proceed to encounter you and support the fellow nations ship. Nothing a lookout in the day would not report to the officer of the watch and then passed to the officer of the day who then relays that message to you the captain.

Everyone in OW is traveling at the same time compression. On OW we are all equal.
The Hunter and the Victim are equal.

The problem occurs once someone is in Battle where time compression isn't the same as on the OW. With the "What you see is what you get" RoE that we also advocate for noone can abuse the fact that the OW Time Compression is 75 times faster than the time compression in battles.

As I have stated above, chances are it was players in the area that saw what you were doing and proceeded to engage, if I see captains tagged in front of me... I'll go to help them.

As I have stated in red to reply, hope that answers your question, from my clan personally and others we work closely with we always escort Traders as a clan, we never sail them alone. I find it hard to believe that it is a clan waiting for you after you ganking there ship as I rarely see it unless there clan is sailing close by.

The risk of getting caught in the first place is still there?

    And anyone can raid others?

I dont get the casual mentality of 'omg he killed me, I need to take revenge on him no matter what"

Not at all, but small clans need the resources so you cannot blame them for being p***** about you taking there ship and cargo.

Personally from our clan, if you lose your ship your a muppet as were off doing other things, you sail alone and loose your cargo.... that is your fault.

All in all, atleast you live up to your name. You surely must be trolling or just incredibly bad at reading and understanding.

Trolling for having an opinion that is not the same as yours.... *Slow Clap* well done.... what a muppet you are if you think everyone who disagrees with you is a troll!

You do understand this is only being discussed because of the fact we've got two dimensions, battle and OW instance, and therefore anyone can use the hyper speed of OW as an advantage to camp on an exact battle position, to which he would have never gotten because 1) would have taken ages getting there, if we didnt have the luxury of ow speed boost and 2) captains back in the day had no means of communication

Right now, active pvp is being harshly discouraged; waiting for someone 'stupid' enough to deliver the PvP, camping on his battle position to grab an easy kill afterwards seems much more profitable

    Great gameplay, right?

Thanks for a sensible response I shall return the favor o7

Q - "you do understand this is only being discussed because of the fact we've got two dimensions, battle and OW instance, and therefore anyone can use the hyper speed of OW         as an advantage to camp on an exact battle position"

A - Well yes, but you also traveled at the same speed to reach your pray so if it's good enough for you why not for other players?

Q - would have taken ages getting there, if we didnt have the luxury of ow speed boost and

A - Yes but as I have advised, you and other people complaining here have also made us of the 75 times faster in OW in order to get to your hunting ground.

Q - captains back in the day had no means of communication

A - You are correct, but people using TS and Discord is out of the admins control, they cannot prevent people using it as I bet you and other on this topic use it also.

Q - Right now, active pvp is being harshly discouraged; waiting for someone 'stupid' enough to deliver the PvP, camping on his battle position to grab an easy kill afterwards seems much more profitable

A - But there are hundreds playing this game and PVPing without the need to complain, if your sailing close to an area known to have clan activity and you tag a ship in OW *75 times faster than normal like everyone else* then wait until they are far enough out, don;t sit by a port entrance to snag you prey.

    Q - Great gameplay, right?

A - Yeah to be honest the devs have turned this game from being fun and enjoyable to an expensive grind fest. I can understand you want it easier to evade revenge fleets but this time last year it was easier for PVPing.... I have said this in numerous posts that the Devs had a winner last year this game was fun and exciting, but giving Gankers more bonuses to evade will just turn more people away and I've witnessed 21 of my friends who came back from the great wipe... saw what a mess it was and have given up the game.

  14. Just now, TommyShelby said:

Invisible timers and porting out of battle is just as realistic as someone on the OW going 75 times faster than someone in a battle.

I never claimed Invisibility and Teleports were realistic (If you think i did, please feel free to read all my comments untill you can quote me saying that). However don't come here trying to say that battles being open for a full 90 minutes is realistic. It cannot in any way be realistic when the guys on the OW are sailing at 75 times the speed of the ones in battle.

You also have the benefit of sailing at 75 times normal speed to gank your pray..... expect the x75 times speed to be returned to you.

Basically after reading your suggestions all I seem to make out of it is this

" @admin I want to be able to attack defenseless traders alone steal there cargo and sink his ship for PVP marks as I so good of a captain I want to be able to get my pray and then get away without any repercussion, I want to be able to sail at 75 times normal time in Open world to catch my pray.... but I don;t want the other side to be able to do it. I want to be able to attack my defenseless pray without being interrupted as I'm really a bad player... True PVPers can do it and do it well but I'm slow and to be honest rubbish at this game so want you to make it easier for me."

There summed your pathetic whine up perfectly. If I can do it and many others like @The Red Duke for instance in his Privateer... why cannot you guys?? Why must this entire game revolve around you easy mode!!

  15. 3 minutes ago, TommyShelby said:

Plis, plis dont mention realism when you can't comprehend the fact that the ships on the OW travels like 75 times faster than the ships in battle.

    Realistic my ass.

Excuse me, but it is your ideas of invisible timers and porting out of battle to safety that is non "Realistic"

Trying to turn your "Realism" BS onto me when you cry babies have been bleating on about it like sheep over the course of 3 pages.... give me a break...

  16. Just now, Bearwall said:

Actually there is no real luxuries. But in OW the speed moves a lot faster than in battle instance and therefore OW campers are able to make rocket speeds to the battle site compared to the time in the battleinstance. Irl there would be no "home fleet" as the navies gathered the bulk of their assets in a few strategically important ports in order to make battle with the enemy battlefleets. Raiders and patrols relatively rarely came upon each other and most traders were in times of war escorted by convoy.

In game however we have outposts in up to 8 locations, ships in many of them and traders sail without escort in order to make good time. The only way to remove some sort of protection for the hunter is to remove the tp function between OP and I'd seriously advice against that as it would make and already tedious timesink even worse and it'll more or less kill of the casuals who already has a hard time ingame.. The removal of tp from free town to free town has already severely diminished the availability of PvP and I hope they'll reintroduce it even if I'm often the trader getting cought.

That really doesn't matter, If ships are in ports then why can't they sail them out???

Traders in this game represent to a nation the same importance as they did for real navies and nations around the world today. The matter of the question is you claim you want "Realism"

    Well then ok...

    1) Every player must be limited to one ship then,

    2) Player must remain in that outpost while his ship is there.

    3) Battles outside ports have no timers. Anyone can join no matter what time is displayed on the battle timer.

    4) Port Battles are toO remove Circles as they were never in a Battle period.

    4) Remove invisible as that was not historically correct either... Still to this day stealth ships can never beat the eye.

    Need I go on???

I have stated just how easy it is to sail from KPR to Mortimer steal a Pirate Captains 3 ships and sail them back to KPR, I cannot see why anything must change but you if cry babies want it realistic to benefit just you then I suggest the devs implement your realism events as I stated above listed 1-4

  17. 1 minute ago, Bearwall said:

You're missing the point - there is no such thing as immunity.. But if the revenge takes out slow (or slower) moving ships it will not matter where the hunter appears as he will just escape again and again.. The balance is between hunters being able to hunt and revenge fleets being able to actually protect home waters - irl there were no magical way of "camping" a battle site and wait for the attacker to appear instead we have invisibility for 30 secs which I believe is the better of the options tested. Infinite wait in BS (or the equivalent to sci-fis "cloaking devices") was exceptionally bad, the tp to nearest friendly port was exploited to get a tp tickett and the open battles for 10 or 15 mins essentially made hunting impossible as players would just tp to nearest OP jump into a ship and magically appear in the midst of the battle.

The two options currently not tested through is the current system (which is exploitable) and randomizing spawn locations within a set distance from the battlesite for ships after battle in effect making camping of the battlesite more or less redundant.

Why do you need such luxuries though?? People are able to gank and PVP easily already!!!

  18. The proposed system, as already stated is not a great idea sadly.

The only other option would be to re introduce neutral as a nation and can operate from free ports and trade to other nations without smuggler flag.

Only can be attacked by pirates but the neutral aka pve players can dump all there cargo if they are tagged. AFK sailing aka alts will still fall pray.

  19. Sure let's forget realism in favor of the gankers. If an enemy ship/fleet are stupid enough to sail close to a port then expect the navy to be waiting outside.

People wanting special perks for ganking trying to claim "realism" about revenge fleets?? ok... allow the fleets to enter the battle with no timer like realism!!! You think realistically the Navies will sit back while important supplies are being attacked? You think the fleets in port will sit back drinking cocktails watching there countries ships being engaged??

You seem to want, TP to friendly ports!! Invisible after battle until your back in home! What else will you guys want for the future??? Laser Cannons??? Force fields? Stealth technology??? You gank near enemy ports expect to be hunted!!! Me and a few guys in my clan attacked a pirate in his inde with 2 indiaman sailing past pirate forts.

We got away with all his ships sailing from pirate waters near Mortimer back to KPR... we did this without needing your special ganking suggestions.

If you expect revenge fleets, then take a fleet!!

Want to gank solo, then don't gank near ports where clan activity is high... simples!!

Greed will always be present. Remember the hemp crisis ? It was needed by the nations to really build the fleets but a lot of less scrupulous captains did drive the prices to insane values.

Hell, even daily groups do proceed with "indentured servitude" of newcomers for their LH.

NPC shop ships should have variable price according to player naval Rank.

I agree with this 100%, people want to "get rich" quick and will scam there nation in the process.

I like the idea of variable npc prices...

After a while, the ships market will settle with reasonable prices. It's just question of offer Vs demand balance (today offers are low)

Oh please... pull the other excuses! Crafted ships should be competitive in price now that the devs increased the costs of npc ships in port. Not milking the players who are already grinding like mad to setup in the new system.
