We're all eagerly awaiting Don Innocencio's communiqué.

Let us courteously assume you're referring to governor Henry Clinton, because any other reference here is unlikely to trump the attention of the mods.

Doing it all for the upgrade and ending up with 600 pine logs... who doesn't know the feeling already?

"Pirate ranks" sounds like an oxymoron. Yet such are the necessities of the game...

That reminds me once when I was stopped by a bouncer because I forgot I kept a corkscrew in my pocket...
-
Let's not jump on our high horses here.

Yep I liked the multiple corkscrews as well, once I noticed them. Plus the 90' joke is just on the spot.
Edit@JLP I should have said surrendermonkeyfication instead.

Being fed a constant stream of dim-witted white-flag-ho-ho-ho splutter from armchair generals since a good thirteen years now -and counting- it's not the offence that gets the French anymore, it's the sheer boredom.

In our Allies side, our correspondant reported large naval operations in Northen Antilles areas apparently caused by the endless war between Sweeds & Pirates.
Our council foreign minister made some bitter comments about the Sweeds, which are part of our coalition, being obsessed by Pirates and were disregarding the war effort requested by the side of Danes & French in South-East front. Not to mention the negative effect on the Spanish fleet commander's mind that always maintain good relationship with Pirate leaders.
Aye, we've been uprooting the sweeds but they grow everywhere in our backyard...

"Mr Pitney, have this fine specimen of citizen of humanity walk the plank, please, and do not devote more of our time to that than it deserves."
-
Aye, normally it does. When everyone behaves rationally, that is... here it's clearly not the case.

That's a double-edged comment here, pal.

I managed to pull a couple off you rear end yesterday
Sincerely yours

There, you just heard a 'no' from a player as well, now.

This one reminds me of Austria fleeing after the war to South America, keeping sideways, playing maracas and pretending to be Peru.

And this is supposed to be a declaration of love, perhaps?
-
Absolutely not. I, myself, was prevented under the same rules to enter the same battle. Far from breaking the rule, I've raised the point several times already that the mechanic is flawed and eventually I'm being told that:
And no, I do not know where RoE changes fit in the list above.
You'd better lock the thread because this is going nowhere.
-
I don't think you understand the meaning of being "forced" to do something. DesMoines made a choice.
Desmoines (pirate):
-join France (denied)
-join Brit/smuggler (allowed)
A choice indeed...
-
So the mere fact that the current RoE tied the hands of DesMoines and forced him into a green-on-green is irrelevant???
-
Not that I'm pleased to raise time and again the issue of the half-baked OW RoE that led to this appalling situation, but are we eventually going to adress the elephant in the room, or is it intentionally falling on deaf ears? It's the third or fourth time I do...
Or do I need to green-on-green just to see it raised in a tribunal thread of my own?
-
As I wrote in the other thread, I am absolutely baffled to have been prevented -as a pirate- from joining one side (French National) and not the other (Brit smuggler).
Surely all this kerfuffle would have been avoided if it wasn't for this flawed game mechanic. I still view it as an undesirable side effect, but at least you should recognize that Desmoines did not have any other choice if he were to rescue his friend. He choosed to forfeit his adherence to a rule that is essentially flawed.
Now as Tenakha asked : what is the developer's stance on this?

Since I have the dubious honor of being accused of being an alt, I therefore have a voice in this thread. Plus, Desmoines needs an advocate who is fluent enough in english for representing his interests before the Court. This at least can't be denied to him.
Therefore, as a
self-appointedhonourable representative, I would highlight that, this is before all a developer's issue. If Desmoines had the option to join the fight on Coyote's side, there is no doubt he would have chosen it. The game simply did not leave him the choice. Furthermore, there is no objective reason why a pirate should be forced to side with a smuggler and not a national of his own choosing. I witnessed firsthand the mechanic since I actively tried to join Coyote on his first engagement : the French side was denied to me, the Brit (smuggler) was the only one available.- 1

Have to admit I was about to dismiss it with a shrug, but no... genius I say. Pure genius.
