  1. Considering the current circumstances of the new world, I have decided to accept a pardon and join with the United States.  My motivation is simply that the nation has been pounded back and made a mockery of by my fellow pirates.  I don't hold any ill will toward my old allies, however I simply recognize that it will be better of all of us this way.  In addition, seeing as how I am on good terms with the Pirates, I hope to help broker a peace deal between the two nations.

Seriously though, I'm not doing this to spy or anything like this.  Pirates have become extremely powerful, and while I don't agree with the nerf suggestions that people have made regarding the pirate nation, I do see that they have become the strongest force in the game, and I would like to help a nation who has been pushed back big time.

  2. Until yesterday, all of your complaints could have been about France and not the pirates.  So I kinda do know it's like to operate in an area of the map that has no useful ports and has potential enemies around every turn with no "safe zone" of my own.  If you learned the reinforcement rules then you could use them to your advantage even as the attacker.  If you are attacking something that is half of your BR rating then they can call reinforcements, but if you don't double their BR they can't.  If you are soloing around in enemy territory in a cerb or surprise or bigger then you are doing it wrong.  You shouldn't be taking those types of ships in enemy territory to solo anything.  Most pirates from the age of sail ran in small ships.  I believe the "Queen Anne's Revenge" was the largest pirate vessel in the historical age of sail and it was a frigate, and Blackbeard would commonly bring smaller ships to escort it because having a ship so big made it a safety risk if it was attacked by severl smaller vessels.  I don't bring my Frigate out to hunt unless I am grouped with others, preferably one larger ship and one smaller ship.  There are different class ships for a reason, the different ships are not "better" than each other they are "better" at different things.  This idea that "I am level 6 so I am going to use this Surprise for everything" is naive, and not how tactics work with sailing ships.  I am no expert on historical naval combat, but NA is a simulator with historical ships and I know this is how it works in this game.

Again, I don't think you get it, I run smaller ships, however you need to understand it is a give and take, I take a smaller ship in enemy waters, it is still difficult to get a good mark when simultaneously running from other players who outclass me and catching a trader who, on sight of pirate sails, runs to the nearest friendly port.  At the same time moving farther out to cut that down results in the risk of having to sail BACK in a trader, running high risk of another ship catching me easily.  This of course still doesn't touch on allied ships rushing to help when a pirate catches a trader in battle.  This is something I've done, I still have a port off Florida where I go to harass people, but it is still high risk low reward.  that is the reason you see so many pirate players not playing like traditional pirates.  The pirate faction is extremely similar to any other faction, and as a result it is played as such.

  3. Then how have the French defeated the "pirates" in the SE on PvP2 with almost no ports and lesser numbers? I have taken several player traders myself, it is neither difficult nor dangerous. In fact it is the same as taking a NPC trader except their hold is FULL of iron instead of a handful of random resources, so it is totally worth it. You just have to have the right ship and know where to look for them....like a true pirate. I swear if you guys sat down, thought about pirate tactics intelligently, and then tried them out in game, you would have success.

I don't know, it's irrelevant to me. You don't play pirate. As pirate I can either sit in my waters and take NPC prizes, or go to another nations. If I go into another nation's waters the other ships will either run if a trader, or fight if not. If fighting they always call for friends. If I initiate combat, they also call reinforcement NPCs. Assuming all goes well and I take a trader, and assuming the one item bug doesn't exist, I now have to sail a trader to a free port if I want the items.

Right now, as the game is, traditional piracy is simply not worth the risk or effort. That is why Pirates are playing as a nation.

  4. The only reason the pirates don't act like pirates is......they don't act like pirates. Taking territory? trading? Piracy is a viable option with the current game mechanics, pirates just don't realize or want to do it. All this crying about "pirates can't be pirates" is truly a load of BS. You can, you just would rather do empire building instead.

Wrong, completely wrong. The mechanics do not favor it at all. Picking off enemy player traders is difficult and dangerous, and the payoff isn't worth it. Doing the same thing to NPC traders gets boring fast

  5. Ya Grim, if you knew the details...

Anyway, in a surprise dawn attack, Cayo Largo is back in US hands.

The timer was set like that just to be a temporary annoyance.  Pirates really didn't intend to defend it.  You did take it much sooner then expected, we thought nobody would be that willing to wake up early for the PB

  6. I understand you had 19 undermanned 3rd Rates.... that's lot of preparation time. Good job!

I have no idea, a good number of us didn't find out until it started, and by that point didn't feel like sailing down. If that was the case, then the Brits should have been ready and could have easily defended it.

  7. Keep it going Gaspar, I don't mind any Pirate actually playing like a Pirate.

I do think the chest thumping is a little silly if it's not meant in roleplay; after all I'm not sure if anyone playing longer than a few days is still in the area you are patrolling, but then again you're a new player as well so it evens out. Anyway kudos.

    The boasting is RP.

  8. Yeah, but not in a Basic Cutter. Lmfao.

I should submit a detailed issue about this.

Experienced players still using Basic Cutters with the obvious advantage of not losing anything compared to other players losing a Durability maybe or worse - a Ship earned rightfully through legitimate effort.

I don't see a problem. Basic cutter is not a strong ship, the only advantage is that it is free.

  9. Lmao.

In a Basic Cutter attacking larger ships with no afflicted penalty because after all the Basic Cutter is a free ship with free everything. And after you actually done something worthwhile Pirates would be giving themselves a pat on the back after sinking a larger ship in a fleet of Basic Cutters.

Comparison with another individual with a ship that can't be attained freely - the repairs are within' 4 figures and the kits are within' 4-5 figures.

Most of the individuals I come across attack ships to gain Free EXP from Damage and from inflicting damage. It's no surprise that Pirates are doing the same thing and boasting their efforts are Scary and Frightening. It's griefing and is no way contributing to the proper way to play the game. However, if you're in a CUTTER not a BASIC CUTTER - then you can disregard parts of my post.

On that note - I'll be patrolling the coastlines. Niagara and a Snow isn't something worthy of an achievement. Nor an "American Cerb" you claim to have taken. From what it looks like - it may be just a propaganda to spur a reaction. I'd like for you and your mates to try that again.

Yes, a pirate sitting off the coast hunting ships it can take is totally not how pirates should be played.

  10. He has admitted to targeting new players who may not understand how the game works in their missions.

I have no issue with pirates beyond the fact they are not what developers claim was intended at this point.

If I actually seen him on be rest assured I would, of at least try. He picked the capital area because he knows there is no reason for experienced players to really be there. Especially for U.S players. Despite his claims its doubtfull he is looking for a real fight.

If I'm in the area while I'm on I'll look for him.

I'm not listed to only that area, I'm south of there as well. This be piracy, I'm out for plunder, not fair fights

  11. Being a pirate has noting to do with trolling newer players.

You can redefine things all you like. I've been patrolling the coast from mid Florida and Charleston, taking prizes, some are new people, some aren't, some are traders. That is Piracy, don't like it? Come kick me out.

  12. When I get into an OW PVP fight I want challenging gameplay. I don't want to pick on new players who are just learning how to play. The majority of the experienced population don't spend a whole lot of time around the U.S capital.

There is a big difference between attacking new players for easy xp who don't know how to play vs experience players who can put up a fight. The lack of in game tutorial and you are doing it in groups makes it even a bigger problem.

Add to the fact it is no longer possible for experienced players to join your victims side due to the update and even give them a chance also paints you in a poor light.

People have been whining on the forums about pirates not being pirates and playing like a nation. So here I am, off the American coast, sinking traders, and bigger ships and yes, some cutters. I have fought plenty of bigger ships with my cutter, if you Americans don't like pirates off your coast then you should try and kick us out mate. Until then the plunderin won't stop

  13. Not sure where attacking basic cutters w/a larger ship on a PvP server should be frowned upon really. I'll take those kind of fights all day long in my basic. Its nothing but a win-win really. You get xp/gp and experience essentially for FREE!! With the cost of repairs the fact that anyone would take on basics is rather humorous really. Granted being attacked by something probably 3rd rate and higher would significantly change the scenario however.

All that being said, I dont care enough to look for it, but I'm 95% certain someplace around here the dev team said 'griefing' newbies outside of capitols is

not acceptable behavior and can be punishable. One would assume that if you feel taken advantage of or being purposely grieved outside a zone of capitol

    control than file a report.

that last paragraph was for new players, not specifically for Justme. I know Justme isnt a new player and is not concerned HE is being victimized. It was more a PSA not directed at any particular person.

I use a basic cutter and generally join fights where the Americans have a higher BR. I can understand why he would be mad about it though, I've sunk better ships then cutters and caused others a higher repair bill

  14. It would be interesting to see( not what you say) what the others in your group had used. Normally I would give the benefit of the doubt, but given you seem to gank noobs to draw out NPC ships to make yourself look good. Color me skeptical.

Are you even in the area when U.S players are typically on, I would love to face you guys but somehow I doubt I would see you in my timeframe.

I am in the area in prime time US, and I usually just jump into fights currently in process, and the US almost always has the BR advantage.  The Niagara whose crew I killed actually started the fight with me.  Its not about making myself look good, its about piracy

  15. Could be my old cell phone making it hard to see the pic, but it looks like nothing there. No real evidence of anything.

must be your phone, the pic is my cutter approaching the cerberus (it wasn't a mercury) with the Cerb's white flag showing prominently.

  16. OP hangs around US capital, attacks new players in basic cutters and hopes they draw in NPC ships to fight. OP then gets on forum trying to pass himself and his cowardly buddies as something to be afraid of.

When you not going to run from experienced players in a fair fight OP?

That pic is a mercury, also beat a Niagara 1v1, and sank a snow who had help. It's not my fault you Americans need so much help for the fight to be fair.

  17. Yes, you sure showed us your stuff at Crown Haven last night.  The part I was scared about the most was scuffing up my hull on your groups' sunk ships as I watched you run away.

When it takes a fleet of American ships to sink three pirates, your bragging doesn't carry much weight

  18. I was to, I was in one of the outside battles trying to stop the brits from getting in. It turned into 0 brits inside the PB, when I went into a 12 v 1 that turned into a 20ish v 12 to by the time i got out, to 25 brits inside the port battle and 3 different other fights outside all involving 10+ brits. They fielded a large amount of players very quickly when we lost at Puerto Escondido. Simple fact is you can spin it as romantically or uncaring as you want but the pirates lost a lot of ships and 600k+ gold on flags for ports they didn't take. That's a loss, no matter how you try to spin it.

Never said it wasn't a loss, It was, I said the pirates never showed any sign of caring.  The people in the battle with me just went with it, and from the chat outside, their wasn't much effort.  Compared to other PBs I have been a part of, their simply wasn't any motivation.

  19. Let this be a warning to all Americans who believe they are safe in the cozy territories of the American coast.  Be afraid.  Pirates be patrolling these waters, no ship is safe, already a number of ships have fallen to me and me mates in your waters.  This new victim be my largest, yes, an American Cerberus fell today.  Previously I also added a snow to my list of victims, and numerous cutters.

As you try to fight your little wars with the British and Spanish, we will be raiding your trade routes, and sinking any poor sailor who dares to fight.  Piracy is not limited to the Bahamas and those areas even farther south, you are not safe at your ports.  We will be waiting.

  20. That's not how I remember saint nicholas' port battle at all, with it being so close to the main pirate base of la tortue. Simple fact is the brit's did an amazing job of rallying her men to the call to arms.

I was in the battle, there was no organization or really any motivation present. Clan members I was with were just outside laughing about other things since no screen was created. I was pretty surprised by the lack of any effort.
