I think it would get awkward to slow it down anymore.

Looting the sinkers does add some stress to the experience, but it's good practice for learning how to stop efficiently.

Mean while the other AI ships have gotten behind you because you need to sail up wind due to the AI always wanting to turn up wind when they sink, that or the instant stop they perform when they sink.

In very large ships this is pretty much impossible to loot them.

There's a difference between long-and-drawn-out fights and indestructible. We already brought back multiple repairs. ok, fine, it's a money sink I suppose. But multiple repairs + masts that take no damage due to their thickness out-matching all but the heaviest of cannons seems to be pointing us back to the pre-wipe ironclads that so many people got disgusted with.

But do you remember the days when you could just put 10 leaks easy into a Live oak ship and instantly sink it in like 2-3 mins? Or just ram it and they instant sink.

Well those times sucked and for one of those who advocates hardcore gameplay, yet you want easy mode battles? I find a good battle should be 30mins long, should keep you on the edge of your seat and always make you think, even if you lost you come away thinking man that was a fight.

Not oh im sunk in 5 mins how boring.

It's now easier to dismast a ship with raking ball than it is to actually shoot the mast. There doesn't seem to be much middle ground with the developers. Either you buff things to the point of being downright silly, or pour on the weak-sauce.

Cannons are already starting to feel like pop-guns and paint-scratchers again, and I'm concerned what will happen when people start putting mast-boosting refits on their ships.

One of the reasons I came back is due to the new damage model making cannons feel powerful again. Sad to see we're back-tracking already.

Do you really want to go back to where ships sank in like 5 mins after being hit? Where a single broadside  took half ur hp...no thanks i prefer the longer drawn out fights, just wish there was more rewards to a long drawn out epic battle, then a quick easy battle.

I'm going to try W-Oak with W-oak planking next. I think it will make a good difference.

We worked it out on a L'Ocean build, sure while you don't lose as much speed as a Live oak, the White oak doesn't gain as much HP as you think to justify the wood type imo.

For pvp id assume speed is king, for PvE seems thickness is still king, so WO is kinda not that good the LO doesnt give as much hp but its a small difference something like 2k hp which imo is not a lot extra.

With you on this one. Would like to earn some experience for crafting stuff other than ships and cannons.

According to tool tips you get none for cannons, good to know. But before the wipe i would just make the parts gain the exp from making parts and ask a ship builder to make the ship for me, now people will not bother. Glad your with me on this one maybe the devs will come around to seeing exp for crafting parts is good for making a player run eco.

  6. Please bring back Crafting exp for the parts, im making ships parts and a realized, why bother? I get no exp for making it when i could get a few levels for making parts for the ship builders..if you want people to work together to build ships, then let the people who make the parts gain something from it, it will also make people build ship parts to sell on the market, no one will sell ship parts if they give 0 exp since that is the whole point of making them so you can get to 50 and make ships later down the line.

  7. Well people some how managed to make 2nd rates on PvE so while crafting for some clans is possible most of the time the LH is the major bottle neck, that and the insane cost of setting up a level 3 shipyard.

On topic those missions only seem to be insane when you get to Post captain and above, Master and commander seem more like the old fleet missions.

P.S Capping ships is the only thing keeping our eco alive tbh.

He boarded me. I was outnumbered with no prep. Still won easily. Brace - counter / change to deck guns - brace - brace - brace - counter / change to deck guns - brace - brace - brace - counter / change to deck guns - brace - brace - brace - counter / change to deck guns - brace - brace  - brace - counter / change to deck guns - die of boredom

That is because the boarding mechanics are pretty simple. Sure if they added actual character fighting would be fun.

    On topic.

Flag captain missions where the other side has waaaaay higher BR then we have.

Trust me when i say the hard core pvp'rs will make them common as the wealth and power creep goes up month by month. In fact the fact of them being so hard to get proves my point. Hard core pvp'rs will absolutely own the sea as they fill up on these massive buffs, while casual pvp'rs languish no matter how hard they fight a balanced ship battle.

Well this game is headed that way where the major hardcore clans will get everything while small casuals will be wiped out. Everything is setup so major clans can dominate so much better with numbers/money so on.

These buffs are too much and once again will lead to ruining good pvp fights by making so many of them one side simply because of the massive buffs on numerous bow pieces, refits etc.

This a great idea if the buffs are like 1%, 2% max 3% for one piece. but 8%??? holy shit Nelson, that adds up quick

But the time taken to get them wont make them so common and if the ship is gone well its a massive loss, i think they are balanced means now longs are more important due to higher pen.

    Pick your fights, buddy.

The wipe has had such negative feedback i think the game needs to recover, people need to recover and gain what they had back, having the pending thought of all my months of grind is going to be removed will make many give up.

  12. This game can not afford another wipe, not with this economy, its so weak right now if they wipe in year the game will pretty much be dead due to how long it took to get set up, i think a wipe from now is bad idea...

What is needed is the devs to slowly change game play and run it by players first, not change huge parts of the game without testing it.  Right now the negative feedback outweighs the positive stuff by such a huge margin i even forgot whats positive anymore.

    P.S Love the protractor :D

on global, there is a nation( i aint going to tell which one )who does not have access to coal, it cannot make ships or cannons or do anything .....There is no coal .....

there is coal 6000 miles further on,(if an ally is online;( )

perhaps you can look at it ...

    or is it intentional (-)

For pvp i think its to make port battles more worth the effort, but it seems they just copied and paste the server data from test to pve without tweaking it for the pve server, since we cant fight other players or take ports we can not take their coal.
