Sorry but in all likelyhood in this period, when you saw a ship, you'd assume it was a 'him' and say 'let's go after him' or 'let's give him a broadside'. You wouldn't stop to ask for gender really. It doesn't ruin immersion for most players if who click the other suppsed female player if your UI messages assumes it is a him in it. So there's not really an issue here. The ammount of 17th century female captains you can probably count on one hand.

Perhaps not so much in battle as birds and fish would stay the hell away from gunfire; but in the open world it'd be cool with something look at besides sunsets.

Thanks for your input everyone. I bought the game, and it runs smoothly. I even have a few settings on high and ultra. So no worries there if anyone in a similar situation with an imac with this card in the future would like to try.

I've played this game last night. Visually stunning water detail, gunsmoke and amazing sunsets and great atmosphere. I dont know if this has already been mentioned but what would help immersion even more would be to include some sounds and visuals of wildlife. Seagulls and other large birds when you are near land and ports for instance; large fish, dophins and whales surfacing in the distance once in a seldom occasion; dark shapes in water, perhaps sharks circling crew members who fall into water during combat (if they do), or small flocks of birds that trail ships or sit on masts. I'm not saying it needs to be oversaturated with detail but it certainly could need some touches of it. I hope that's in your cards, right? It would really make this game exceptional.

Hi, I have a windows partition on my imac to play games and the GPU is the GeForce GTX 675MX 1gb. I love naval combat and game labs gettysburg, really want to give the alpha to go. But Im not buying until Im assured it works. My imac is pretty top notch, apart from the GPU, its not amazing. Will this game run? Anyone else run this with notebook gpus? Thx
