Please explain this confusion in what you have written:

    Peace server

    • Partial reset:
      • Rank, Crafting rank, Knoweldge slots and knowledge books will remain
      • Everything else will be wiped, and tutorial progress will be reset.
      • Compensation ships for latest server problems will be added on launch as a timed redeem
    • where only knowledge books will remain then we go to:
    • peace server he/she will have xp, crafting xp, slots and books. Clan affiliation will remain as it was before the launch.

Where we will have books on peace server! Appears not to make sense.

It's not the "Same game" as the PvP version. PvE, fresh start but you keep skills earned- (The AI sailors won't bitch). In the PvP world where hostility is among human players -equable playing requires all to be on the same playing field -0.

    Makes sense to me...........................

  2. Wow, I cannot believe all the reactions toward the release. We have been told, which feels like forever, everything was to wiped. I assumed both servers would be hit the same, but I am grateful to keep rank and experience on the PvE server. For you veterans that have been here since 2015 and survived the wipes we have been through would remember the game always had major changes from one wipe to another. I see people complaining about the lost of books on this next wipe, really it's that important to you??? Books are new as the sextant is new to the game development. We spend the most of our time without either in this game so learn to adapt.

Promises?? What promises are not being mentioned in this discussion? I do not recall any promises being made as to what you will keep or not keep and I am not going to go through 4 years of post to find a sentence that may hint to a promise. A wipe is a wipe, anything above 0 is a plus. Live with the 0 and put you big sailor pants on and move forward. The only thing you have from this point forward is there won't be another wipe. We have all be in a test mode, what more were you expecting?? A Hello Kitty trophy??

Experience tells me there are going to be changes we have no idea about after the wipe takes affect. I would hope it is close to the way we have been playing these recent months as I think this has been the best combination game mechanics yet to NA.

After the failure on the PvE server the other day showed, to me at least, I am ready for a wipe as everything was lost and a cutter was in my dock.

So wipe your eyes dry, take a deep breath and get your damn oars out and start rowing............................

  3. All playing on the PvE server tonight witnessed a complete wipe of ships, bases, buildings, supplies doubloons etc... The only thing I could see that remained was the rank and reales, all other items were removed. The only thing I was able to do was recall ships I had on auction and now form the base of my current navy.

I was  sailing in an Indianman and was in mid ocean when I was propelled to home port and the only ship in front of me was a cutter. Everything, and I mean everything was gone.

I would like to know what happened?\.

    Thanks

  4. Been with this since 2015. Many, many changes, many different points of view on how "it should be" , now we are on the threshold of the release. The game today I feel has evolved into the best combination of all the different directions it went through during the growing pains of development. Survived three wipes and came into a different world each time, I can do it again, LOL.

Thank you Devs for all you have accomplished, thank you for allowing people like me the opportunity to play, test, bitch about what was going on and still stay true to your intent for the game. This a fantastic game and hope for longevity.

    Congratulations for a great job,

Oh and PS i dont know if a company is " supposed to" update thier site to keep up with changes but if i ran a company i know I would take the few minutes outa my day to change a description on a website if it was my game.

Even the clan websites we used or use are easy AF to edit so if i ran NA i would definitely update it. To be fair my review was a steam review not a NA site review and when i made my review steam still advertised NA as a game it wasnt anymore amd i thought peope deserve to know before they drop 40 bucks on a game they will hate.

Or at least advertise where the game will be like once completed and then give quarterly update as to where they are at in accomplishing their goal. This should keep those following the progress a feeling of where the game currently is. A lot of individuals have misconceptions based upon a number of factors - an incomplete game can really throw curve balls to some vocal people, LOL.

    We need populted servers.
Splitting the EU players in 2 servers (PVP EU and PVE EU) iit is an error IMHO.
There are players who like to play mainly PvE but they also like to do some PvP occasionally.

Combining everyone into a single server will not increase the player base to where you believe it should be. Whether you put all PvP players into the PvE server or all PvE players into the PvP server it will not be the outcome you are looking for. There are two distinct approaches to this game and there are people who enjoy their approach only and cannot conceive of any other method of playing. There are some, like me, who will (currently) play on all three servers. I still lean towards the PvE as my favorite due to my time constraints but if the only server were to be PvP only then you will seldom see me at all. Did that increase you player base? No. Keep the PvE and I am engaged with everything happening as I am active in both the game and as part of this community. Take away a part of the game I find enjoyable and I will see you when I see you and not a moment soon  as I may be finding a replacement for the style of game I do very much enjoy.

Combining the PvE and the PVP into the same world is a challenge the Dev's have to face and it is not easy to balance the difference play styles that are associated with each type of approach. I believe improvements in the PvE world will enhance the game overall for both worlds. When that happens then a redress of a combination of both play styles may work after all. Until then, two servers, two worlds, two approaches to the game, two different type of people enjoying the same type of world with their own unique approach to the age of sail.

    Regarding recent preliminary announcement.

Based on the community feedback and the analysis of player data and numbers.
PvE server will not be closed down.
We guarantee that it will exist for at least 18-24 months after official release. and will revisit this promise then.

In addition to that we have not mentioned it before - but we are developing additional PVE content and new types of missions for PVE players.
AI will be worked on after release and will provide more challenge in the future.

This is great news for the PvE community. In the past 15+ months issues were addressed for the PvP community: Port battles and timers, economics, curtailing ganking (over end over). Battle adjustments due to time zones and other aspects for creating port battles including limiting the type of battle due to the depth of the harbor. A lot of great work has been poured into the game for the benefit of the PvP'ers.

Having the admin group will spend the time as indicated to enhance the PvE side of the game over the next 18 to 24 months will enrich the experience for everyone. This is a win-win for everyone as the benefits of a change do in fact effect all players.

Absolutley looking forward to the wipe and the adventures beyond.

  8. NA is a PvP game. It's has been advertised, sold and planned as a PvP game. It has PVE options of play but the game world is not designed around it. It is designed around PvP. The new map only has hostility PVE missions in PvP territory. So it is logical that is some players want an exclusively PVE area then the naturally divided pacific coast makes sense.

No, you are incorrect. Go to the navalaction.com site and you will see this:

    PVP vs PVE servers

PvP: Large-scale conquest with player vs player battles raging everywhere from the lower Antilles to French Louisiana. You are at risk everywhere and can be attacked by other captains. You can capture any ship you want and sail any vessel you like if you have the proper rank requirement.

PvE: Peaceful server where players fight with NPCs. Players interested in a single player experience where other players can only help you should choose this server.

It advertises both PvP and PvE and has done so since January 2015! It also advertises play in the Caribbean for everyone and does not say the Caribbean is only for PvP and PvE players get the Pacific at Central America.

The game has been designed with both types of players in mind so cut the crap about being PvP only.

  9. You got it backwards the Pacific is for the PvE guys.   Every thing else would pretty much stay the same on the Atlanitc side as it is now.

Why would want to get rid of the PvE server then tell the PvE'rs they have to be segregated from the rest of the map?

Are you only concerned with the welfare of only PvP players that you would eliminate the PvE server then tell those who enjoy this aspect of the game get loss or play in the Pacific Ocean only?

So when the PvP world comes to decide they want the Pacific too, then what, ban 20% of the NA playing world out of the game altogether?

You are starting to sound like you want Naval Action all to yourselves no matter was what, really?

  10. When designing an MMO, you must always assume all players will eventually reach a point where money becomes almost meaningless, or will find the exact point where risk/reward is at a balance point with the most power delivered possible.

Therefore the differences need to be in style and purpose, and not money=size=power. Other MMO's have for example healer classes, tanks, glass cannons, etc.

Here we seem to have a coupe of purposes currently, shipping, sinking, and boarding, with larger ships being better at all three. So I don't see how giving less options is somehow useless, when by and larger the options are already rather limited in effective combat. Any ship they put in that is better than current will become the new meta, (power creep), any ship they put in that is lesser will be underused, regardless of the time it was sailed in.

My point was toward the high cost of keeping a 1st rate as it already has 1 duro. I am one of those who have reached the point where financial it will not affect my playing in the game but I prefer to sail around in the mid-range rates as I can afford more opportunities that if I were in the 1st and 2nd rates. That ballance between risk/reward, for me, is in the 5th rate ships. I could assume others are of like mind, and if that is the case then this can explain the lack of Victories in the ocean. For the cost of one Victory I could replace 5 Frigates. That's 5 times the gaming value at least for me.

You asked the question and I gave you one persons point of view. 07

  11. Simple solution, level cap.

If your happy being level 3 your whole life, then by all means stay. (Hint nobody is happy staying level 3).

That said, more MUST go into a new player server than just it being new and low level. It must be designed from the ground up as being a training ground, in a manner similar to what I suggested a few pages back.

    http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/16431-rookie-regions-new-player-experience/?p=312900

That kind of "rookie area", as a separate server would be just fine.

There is no way anyone who spends any time in game could stay at a level 3 for any length of time no matter how much they think they could.

Get a trade ship, on the PvE, see every port, try to find the uncharted locations and by then you will have gathered enough XP to rank yourself out of level 3.

  12. Yes, I know only the new ships are 1 dur. But if we turn to 1 dur ships what I see that will do is

    1) promote more ganking

    2) hurt crafting

First, I am a casual player, been playing since before Steam Early Access release, have, I believe, 400 some hours in game, have done enough crafting to be able to craft a gold LGV, am at the rank to fully crew a third rate, and do mostly PVP.

Yesterday I was with a group of 3 Renomees. We were leaving the Jamaica area after our fourth member captured a Indianman headed into KPR. He sold the goods & was headed back to Lle Vache in a basic cutter. Part of the revenge group was still around, 2 surprises. We attacked the one, the other one fled. During the battle I decided to board the surprise with the intent to disengage. Having green marines I thought I could but with gold marines, he counter attacked me to death.

So my lovely 3/5 fir build strength speed Reno is down to 4 dur, no big deal. I still have my regular mods & enough time to work on crafting a new Reno & get mats for the permanent mods. I still will fight in this 4 dur ship.

What would be the case for me if the Reno was 1 dur:

I would have lost all my outfittings. I would have not wanted to use my gold fir surprise without the steel toolbox & extra pump. As I only had that one set, I would have just bought a grey ship from the npcs to use with my gank squad.

As I only have 2 mil & do not farm tobacco. I could see me coming broke quick having to make a new ship & new mods when I lose them.

I run in a gank squad but love even fights & try to solo hunt when no one is on. With 1 dur, I would not want to try even fights as I'm still a noob at PVP.

Its a good thing you sail in a 5th rate ship. The cost for a 3rd to 1st rates will break the bank.

  13. Why isn't everyone just driving around in Victory's?

Sounds like your problem is with power creep, not national and time related ship designs.

Actually the problem I see is more financial. If you were to build the Victory for yourself you can spend an easy 400,000. If you were to buy one it can cost upward of 1.5mil. So you buy a Victory spend all that money for a 1 duro ship and when you lose it your cost is more than the cost of the ship, its the cost of the mods added to it and the crew (450,000) your total loss for one ship can easily be well over 2 mil for most players. If you are a solo player, you are more likely not sail around in a first rate unless you have a bank full of money to do this over and over again.

  14. How would you really test a capped ship with 1 dura ??

A capped ship is the only way to get this model then it was going to be a 1 Dura anyway. I feel this is allowing us to test the Plain Jane version to see if the mechanics hold up. They have made many a beautiful ship but there may be something they are looking for inserted into these models that they want to see the results to. Adding any extras will spoil the test.

  15. Do not like the idea of the regional advantages or the attempt to make people build ships outside of the capital areas.

No one is required to craft ships outside their regional area. Remember the 1st Rates will have special requirements that are part of that regions assets. If you want to build a different regions 1st rate you will either have to trade, smuggler trade or be bold enough to have a shipyard in another region. It all depends how bad you want to build another nations ship.

Regional advantage is where all the resources needed to build regional class ships are found in the areas first owned by that region. I would believe if you were Dutch and wanted a Victory you had better captured a British region or as a smuggler bought what you need to build the Victory and assembled it in your home port.

This is how I understand what was being said.

  16. There had, at one time, where the AI was more aggressive on the PvE server. It would be an advantage to have random aggressiveness brought back to spark a more life into the game.

Another idea is to have AI trader fleets that would travel from Freetown to Freetown. These fleets would have a tag that, instead of ATTACK, it would be DEFEND. you click and now you are guarding the fleet which needs to make it to the next Freetown. Your reward if nothing happens travel XPs gained times the number of ships protected. As a lure for an AI attack on the convoy is the fact you are not an AI so the aggressiveness factor plays in here. If you are attacked by an AI and you successfully defend the convoy you receive gold from killing the AI times the number of ships still floating in the convoy. Sometimes it could be a boring trip, sometimes the match can be equitable or sometimes you are overwhelmed and wished you had others with you to help.

Just tying to find ways to increase interactivity on the PvE server without any major rewrite.

  17. What are we really trying to accomplish with a merger? From the base of it you had some guys leave PvP2 for PvP1 now they want to go back to PvP2 (yes I am over simplifying it). And they want to bring their hard earned rewards with them from one server to another, or even simpler combine the cached goods and have access from both PvP servers.

Well, you might as well start to be mentally prepared for the release now and quiet worrying about your goods and kingdoms you've created because when the testing is done all we have left will be a cutter, our rank , our crafting ability and a fishing pole to start out with all over again.

Does it matter if you cannot take your stuff from one server to another? No!

Servers right now are testing platforms. You can play on either one, so why would you care to have everyone on a single server, now? This is a test. The devs can see who plays on what server. They can see preferences, they can tell if a connection to a server is from a tight local group or a widespread group. It is this information they will utilized in final decisions concerning how many servers and where the server could reside.

You think there is not a difference, play both and decide for yourself. There has been plenty that perfect one server over the other for many reasons that really only pertain to that player. Trying to convince a player who experiences more difficulty on one server over the other because you don't experience the same thing he does is just plainly inconsiderate of that persons experience.

Is having more people on one server worth loosing the interest of those who wish not to be part of a merger. I don't think so. If you want a larger population on a server so you can have the kind of battles/entertainment you want at the expense of someone else, then you are delusional in thinking it will solve the problem you see with having two servers. Look, very simple here, I play PvE on the PvE server. I ALSO, play PvE on both PvP servers. Has my presence on any server made any difference in the way you want to play this game, ABSOLUTELY NOT. Do you think merging will make a difference in how you experience the game today, I really don't think it will.

What until it goes live, then we will see.

  18. For your awareness:

Sir, It seems to be having an issue again. I am currently getting extremely high pings to both the PvE and PvP1 servers. PvP1 = 3163ms (high) 1657 ms (low) and PvE 4646 ms (high) and 2497 (low) while PvP2 was getting 68- 70ms. At one point it reached normal for both servers @138-150 ms, but then jumped back up tot he high ping rate again.

    This is from Louisiana, USA.

  19. Clans are problem not only for new players. I try join 1 and lissen: "all crafting h for clan, crafting for himself is forbiden, half gold, minimum ... is for clan, you must sail with clan evry day. All resource, materials for clan". What? I'm player, not a slave. Devs give clans much to much power. And clans kills the game. Ganking new players, not helping ppl from nations, blocking PB for single players, making stupid politics for personal gain. And devs encurage for this making content for clans, and no contents for solo play. Stop this or this game be killed as many before. I understand "player based" idea, but this work only in teory. Reality is, if in game be oportunity to bully another player, head of big clans be using position for more power. This was history in real word, and this was end of many MMO games. Now many players join clans becose has no other option, want play, and for no clan members is no content. And from time when i start play is worse. Now we lissen about new PB mechanics, new economy and crafting - and all informations say - "more dificult, not single player can bulid, less bigest battle...", all for clans. This PB system is not optimal, but 10 person group can buy flag and try cap port, especialy shallow. In new system no one outside clans even can try. Big content for 10% players, and loss for 90%. Event - is for big group. New ships - only from event - for big group. All content added recently is for clans. Politics - same. And even majority not vote for war, clan may atack, and make war. Now this game is game of ganking. Ganking single players, ganking single nations. Is not balanced - and this help clans in bulling ppl to, you want sail, you need protection - is the mob rule.

I too have had bad experiences with clans. I have gone totally solo in this game on all four/three servers (there were four at one time for testing). Amazing on how far you can go. It has taken months of play to raise to the highest craft level. I have crafted ships up to 2nd rate and finally last week got my last 1st rate BP. With rank attained to date, I have the last one still to attain. I have financially done well on PvE, PvP1 and just starting up on PvP2 a couple months ago and starting to make decent headway now.

Investing in time and not be in a rush you can accomplish anything a clan can without the political or dictatorship of a group. You will meet good people online, become friends and maintain a solo experience. You can experience what clan say they offer through your own network of friends online. No need to join anything.

Yes, there are some real crappie clans out there I wouldn't give the time of day to, but I don't have to play near the area they like to be. If they come into my area I can go on strike. I can sit in port so my number is added to the population but not in the water for them to gank. Imagine how frustrating it is for them to see numbers but not see any targets.

They will be here winning for ways to force more players on to their server of choice. LOL

Stay positive there is a lot of enjoyment in this game.
