Please let us design gunboats and armed merchants

I think some mods that were posted here already allowed us to basically make gunboats (make the designs of torpedo boats and destroyers much less restrictive in term of armor/weaponry/speed required) but it'd be much better if this was put in the base game so that we can design such things as monitors, light gunboats and armed merchants as we would want. 

It'd be immensely appreciated to have more depths to ship design than just the rigid pre-disposed classes.
