Units being re-selected after trying to position them and units not moving at all

So this is an odd issue I encountered in my first game. When I tried to move my units from one location to another, they would start to head that way and then stop after a couple of seconds of moving. Then I noticed that the units were being re-selected and their positions were constantly being changed from what I had set them to do. Not sure how to fix this or if I am doing something wrong with positioning. Thanks for the help.

In the first battle a Confederate, my supply wagon went somewhere without the actul order to do so. First, I told myself it had maybe the same mechanic as a general... But, maybe it was the same problem.

It has happened on several occasions to me after playing for a little while more. I had a cannon unit run right into enemy lines without me ever telling it to do so. Some units have a mind of their own, while others don't have any problems with my orders. Pretty strange, but loving the game, none the less.
