  1. i was in a chase last night that wasted 20 minutes of my 1hr game time, a gust or a change of wind, even a lightening of breeze would have livened things up. I was outnumbered by same size ships and yet still he ran from the beginning right to the white ring. I know in history British captains would have been court martialed for this behavior.

    I can understand your frustration.

Historically plausible, though, sometimes a court martial isn't enough to curb cowardice. Just sayin'.

  2.

May I suggest for captains quarters, you just make one for each Captain and make it a place we could display mission rewards, medals, trophies or other such items awarded throughout the game.

Yeah, and when you get raked by the stern you lose all your mission rewards, medals, trophies and whatnot. Good plan. Realistic. I like. :D

  3. I have significant difficulty understanding this: How many unique ships were there in the Age of Sail in the era the game is based on? I say it could not surpass 300 different battleships, since even for the Royal Navy the number count was at 180-200 maximum at one point in time... and that would have been extremely costly to maintain.

After this is settled I may form an opinion on this.

  4. Perhaps I'm looking too far into the future here, but what will happen once a significant amount of ships have been modeled by the devs... (around 200)?

I fear that in a community of a few thousand gamers we will start to see repeated models (for example, 25 Constitutions or 14 Victories) with some minor customization, and not really a lot of novelty in the same. As far as I know in history no two ships in the age of sail were exactly the same.

To counter this possibility, I suggest we come up with a system to design, plan, build and test ships of our own creation, with the obvious chance of creating ships that prove to be cumbersome or not sea worthy, for example. Not precisely suggesting we should start modeling ships after the Black Pearl or anything, but I hope you get the idea.

    So... what do you think?

  5. I bet we're all really excited that such a magnificent game the likes of which we've been waiting for years is finally coming!

That said, it's my opinion that it's extremely necessary to spread the word to all interested corners of the internet, so we can develop a great player base and help the devs to bring us what we want. Simply put, more people interested = more pre orders = more money to help speed along development.

Thought I'd create a ZEEF curation page on NA (which promises to become the next google, btw) to make sharing with your friends easier and stuff. Just hand them over the link and bingo, now they have all they need to know about NA in one easy place, creating ease of convincement.

I'd suggest sharing on your social networks of choice, and any help in suggesting more links and improvements on the page would be very much appreciated!

    Make it go viral, mates!

  6. In relation to sailing being an art, it can be in real life, but it'll be a turnoff to people relatively new to the concept. We have to compromise somehow so that although the realism feeling isn't affected, basic sailing can become intuitive after a few hours of practice. Else fustration might ensue. Nobody wants to be frustrated, do they?

  7. Easy guys. Two suggestions to developers. First, you can set up different servers for say, 3 eras of the Age of sail. No 1 will have early ships (of course), No2 can have modern ships (from the corresponding era) and admit somewhat outdated ships from the first era, and number 3 admit modern ships from the last era and admit outdated ships from the second.

Secondly, It'd be great to have constitutions and other powerful ships. To minimize cluttering of the most powerful ships, you can set a system where if your ship sinks, you lose it forever and have to buy a new one if you want. That way it'll be risky to sail one of those and less people will try to get their hands on one. This rule could be expanded to all the ships. Just saying.

    Regards, myself. ;)
