SOUNDS!!
Officers shouting commands during battle, crew members replying to officers, masthead hailing the deck when a player ship is spotted in OW maybe sea chanties being sung by the crew in OW every now and then, just a bit of life to the ship.

We'll your first mistake is thinking that everything has to be logical. Politics in this game is mostly about egos. It has been shown time and time again.

Aside from giving the lord protectors a meaningfull role, wich i support, i dont like this idea at all. It would give even less meaning to owning any port as a nation and people will have even less incentive to fight over them. Everyone operates out of freetowns already these days and gold is easy to get/farm. Allowing players to produce and craft in enemy ports would anihilate any reason to own any port beside your capitol (from a national perspective)

Not sure i understand what you are on about, this is my take:I think that the problem that you are running into right now is not one that the devs can fix with any ingame mechanic.It's pretty easy. Us humans like to categorise everything around us, including other humans. It helps us understand the world. For example: Instead of seeing a 'object' you can see a wooden table, wich has certain properties and characteristics. This speeds up your thought proces and allows us to not go friking insane.To the point: Everyone has preconceptions, if you aware of it or not. We judge groups of people every day. I mean the fact that you are talking about nationals not liking other nationals is that exact thing.There is nothing wrong with liking or disliking a certain nation because of the people in it, especially not in a game. Having friends and rivels only makes the game more fun. (Altho it's healthy, for the sake of NN and our sanity, to realise that we are all not that different after all.)This is something that will never change, it's simply part of being a human, for some a little more then for others.

I must say, even now that i'm not part of the USA anymore. I still thoroughly enjoy sailing around Habana with a couple of my US friends and have some good ol pvp. I hope this war wont end to soon

It might not be realistic but I do really like being able to teleport my ships, as it is now.
Because of this there is ALLOT less downtime for me, more time to PVP.
For me PVP is the best part about this game, introducing mechanics like these could possibly make the game more tedious, increase downtime and be therefore (for me) less fun.
Then again, i'm willing to give it a try and see how it works out

How will a minimum battle time eliminate counter-tags? People will still do it to get start the battle in a position of their choosing.

The thing I do not like about ramming is that, if ramming causes leaks, people will ram themselves to death. (especially traders) It came to a point where you have to desail or demast pretty much every trader player, if you try to turn them into the wind, they will make sure to give you a ram and sink themselves. It turns the capturing proces into a very tedious cat&mouse game, where you can either not get close to or far away from a trader.

I must say I'm happy for Spain even tho I do not like sorry&co. Spain is the nation that had to sustain the most beatings out of all the nations,(or close to sweden atleast). Them controlling a large area, the start of an economic upturn, sounds only fair to me. Just make sure to keep yours guys together, unlike the USA, where clans left for the gulf area and where only participating in PVE after a little while, effectively splitting the nation.

What about lowering mast thickness a little? most 3rd rate and up masts are a 100 thick, really hard to penetrate for the small ships. They have to be point blank and cannot bring there guns to bear that close.

I just hope they fix grape. 32 carro's or 9 longs cannot grape a Ingermerland that had no rear armour left. The grape wont penetrate. Since you cannot really damage the hell and the masts are a 100 thick aswell,frigates vs 4th and up is pretty much not possible anymore

Jack do you have screenshots of the SORRY ass that you kicked. We would all like to see you substantiate your claims,
I stand corrected.
Countless times SORRY was challanged to an even BR fight.
Countless times lord vicious was challanged to duel, look at the bounty forum topic.
SS denied or did not even respond to these invitations. The only fight they are willing to give is with there 25santi zerg, or in smaller ships when they have there 25 santi's next door, so they can take them out as soon as the opposing faction has more or an equal numer of ships.
BeeRanch, i challange you. Show the forums what you are worth. Accept Chustlers invitation. Let the guns do the talking so we can quit this topic. I think it's safe to asume that 90% of the people are done with all the bullcrap and trash talking.
Edit: This forum topic shows that open world has failed to provide both groups with an even fight. There is simply no "glorious victory", from either sorry or tda over the other. Everyone seem to have failed to meet the quality standerts from the other party regarding to posted screenshots. An organised fight would be the best option to settle this discussion.

If I may ask something, Vicious: Is this thread not for us to post where we have victories against sorry? Why are you posting pictures of Sorry winning battles; that's not what this thread is for, per OP. You should post your victories on your recruitment thread.
Also, when I get home I'll post up the battle of Savannah, where I captured Grimbeard's third rate with a Cerberus.
To be fair, i did ask SORRY to post a "glorious battle" they won versus TDA (USA clan).
I'm delighted to say that he has not been able to provide that (so far). Only battles mixed with tf, or battles in wich they outgunned TDA.
I think wise words have been spoken by the TDA leaders in this topic and I feel honoured that I had the chanse to fight along side them. We might have not been able to bring 25 Santi's, but we did do what we could, created fun content and kicked some sorry ass when the odds where even-ish on rare occasions.
This topic shows that both clans are very different and value different parts of the game.

First I must state that i'm not member from either TF or TDA, but i know both clans quite well. I've fought with them (ex-member) and against them (sea trials)
I might have been a little harsh in my last post but it does not change anything. It's obviously not black and white, both sides will have glorious victories, many battles where fought. I should have realised this aswell.
The screenshots you show are against a mix of TF and TDA, I would like to point out that TF and TDA are different clans and usually only sail together when they participate in port battles. They play different and should not be compared to easely in my opinion.
One screenshot however does show a battle against TDA. I would love to know what ships they where sailing. The player count looks good atleast
Anyways, i like to congratulate you on that victory and I hope there is many more even battles to come.
In the end, this good PVP is where both parties are looking for. The best fights are the hardest one, the ones where you felt you deserved victory and not just steamrolled the enemy.

Our SORRY friends seem to forget one IMPORTANT fact. They have been spamming there topic with countless screenshots of ramdom fights. Fights against ramdom players, 95% of the fights SORRY does outgun the enemy. It's much easyer posting easy victories regarding an entire nation, because a nation is large. We can and sink Pirates all the time in mortimer town, often outgunned. If we would post these pictures here you will see every day, multiple pictures, of people sinking pirates around mortimer town.
So SORRY, if you are so great, PM me the screenshots you have fighting just TDA. Where you where outgunned by TDA and still won the fight from just TDA. One of these "glorious fights" you guys are so good at. Wait... I dont think those exist D:
This still does not change the fact that excessive stat tracking, posting screens, and flaming, under the excuse of "recruitment", invokes allot of bad blood in the community. I do not wish to regularly participate in this and would love to see SORRY only posting proper battles against clans, with even-ish odds.

Please dont forget that shitposter only make up a tiny fraction of a nation. The entire nation is not to be judged on the actions of a few forum trolls. I think that it a fact that allot of people in this topic need to remember.

I argue that we need to test the current patch a little more before we start posting polls all over the forums. People need to make an informed decision. Right now most people are reacting out of emotion or whatever they think might happen. Lets experience this system first a little while.

Yes Vicious you tried rio seco alone, altho you took las tortugas after kotor&co pulled multiple flags. I have to give you credit for the rio seco attempt. Altho no clear victor emerged as you where held back from planting the flag by a inferior force.
I'm honestly wondering where we will be in 2 weeks. Pirates have taken USA ports every weekend anyways, this is nothing new and we will capture them back during the week. Ofcourse you could, once again, try to ghostcap the gulf, have fun with that again

You joined the pirates, probleply the largest nation at this point. I supose you can call it outplayed when you attack 3 ports in full force at once when the USA does not have the same amount of people to defend, due to being a smaller nation then the pirates. (not calling the USA a small nation tho)From what i've seen, the SS have yet to win an even engagement against an organised USA force. Come back with those screenshots if you have them.
The battles where fun, I hope you give us some more in the comming days.

I like how SS is claiming victory for the pirates while they lost 50% of the fights yesterday and as many ships as the USA did. Good show boys, nice propeganda!

Nothing, and that needs to be adressed. But this is not the way IMO.
Once defenses will be added, i belive they will be upgradable aswell at some point. Investing into a port will atleast make people care for a port. Then later down the road there will most likely be an econ overhaul (was included in priorities list).
