Just got back to NA after a very long absence.
I am unable to start the game beyond the Shard Selection screen. SELECT does not activate.
Grateful for any help.

OW is currently very quiet with just a hint of some sea sounds.
I am a big believer in the importance of sound to create a suitable atmosphere and enhance the immersion factor.
Sailing in OW towards your mission target, for example, could include some dramatic music and battle drums on the approach to the target.
Anything to break the quiet monotony.

The reason I ask is our small clan on the pve server has had 3 snow's catch fire and explode in the last two days; 2 for one player and one for myself. M

I am currently starting the game by using the shortcut I have been using in the past.
Should I be starting the game in any other way to get my headstart ships?
I only get the yacht at present.

My computer setup is as follows:
ASUS CM6870|Quad Core|i7-3770 3.4GHz
12GB DDR3 RAM
2 TB HDD
nVidia GeForce GT630 2GB
Windows 8
I realise my video card is probably my weak link. I am currently getting 8 fps in OW and only slightly better in battle.
My video settings are all set on minimum and all antialiasing and other filters are OFF.
Resolution is 1920x1080
Is there any way I can configure my video card to improve my frame rates?

I agree. Having to sink 20 ships to be promoted to 1st Lieutenant is a bit much.
Especially since I have to use a Brig or Snow with insufficient crew numbers!

Presumably the majority of people currently logged in have been playing for a while and had logged in before the problem surfaced.
I was logged in earlier today without any problem.

Same problem here. When the Start button appears, I also get a black circle on the bottom left of my screen.
Clicking on Start does nothing.
