  1. Great job guys! Just played all the way through once as Union and once as Confederate. Got to say, maybe the best 10 bucks I ever spent. I am so glad someone finally took the time to create a Gettysburg game with a modern UI. One thing I have really missed are the "Waterloo: Napoleon's Last Battle" and "Austerlitz: Napoleon's Greatest Victory" type games. This is way better! I am loving the intelligent unit action and not having to babysit and micromanage every little thing a unit does. At first the pace seemed just a bit fast for me, but I'm getting used to it now. I still end up pausing every once in a while to make sure I'm not missing anything. Difficulty seems about right. I played on balanced both times. It was easier as Union (obviously) due to being on defense. As Confederates, in every phase of the battle at some point I was thinking, "How the hell am I going to do this?", but I always managed to get at least a tactical victory by the end. Just keep pushing those troops forward! Have I mentioned that I just love the "trace your route" movement. In Total War, I would have to issue like a hundred commands to be able to issue a flank attack and by the time my troops got there, the AI would just turn. I am amazed by how I can lock down a division and then send troops on a grand sweeping movement to get on their flank. You have to move quickly though, because there is never enough time, just like in real life. As usual in these games, I can never figure out where to place my artillery, either it's too far back or it's too close the action and gets shot up. Not a comment on the game, I just suck with artillery (PC or tabletop, makes no matter). My one wish would be more cavalry (stupid Jeb Staurt missing out on the battle!). In eight hours of play I only had one lockup, which is just amazing considering the game is still in development, seriously great job. I mean what are you guys thinking? A game that is stable BEFORE six months after release? Unheard of. Just two small concerns. Some times when my units are stacked on top of each-other, they seem to attempt to move laterally indefinitely. I'm guessing this is the AI trying to form a tidy battle line, but it sometimes just got annoying. The only other thing I noticed was that the Union sometimes seems to hold too much in reserve in big battles. Not sure if this was the effect of "balanced" difficulty of not. I will play on some different settings and test. In one phase the Union held an entire corps in reserve until very late in the battle and when they did release them, they were too late to get into the battle. Things I love: Ease of movement pathing Morale break, auto rally, and get back into the fight Auto movement to get into range of best target Stupid Heth skirmishers that drove me crazy when I played Union Wish list: 50% Speed option for battle timer Ammo limits for artillery What if scenario where Jeb Staurt's cavalary is available Day 1 Pledge: I will buy every Ultimate General Game that comes out, keep them coming.
