So...I've been following the game for a while and have recently bought the game, and love the concept and all that comes with it.

Outside of a few issues with ship balancing making (weights etc.) making it hard to recreate certain historical ships, my biggest bugbear is the calibre of weapons and the model designs that come with them.

The smallest calibre in game is a 2 inch gun which is 50.8mm. An example of a gun this calibre is the pre-dreadnaught and WW1-era SK L/40 gun from the German Empire (depicted here; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:5_cm_SK_L40_gun.jpg). However, in game the model looks more like a 20mm AA gun, not a single shot cannon.

This trend continues on with the 3 inch gun, which at 76.2mm was a highly common naval calibre, being often used as primary armament for destroyers and torpedo boats, and secondary armament for heavier ships in the WW1-era. However, in game this continues to look like an AA-cannon, despite being a large calibre.

My biggest gripe is the 4inch gun model on late French ships is based on the 40mm bofors, a gun which would be an excellent candidate for the 2inch gun model.

I understand that the game has a stylistic direction, and that people want to be able to festoon their ships with light guns that are modelled similarly to rapid fire AA-guns that were common in large numbers on 1940s ships.

My suggestion, is that the game replaces these large (relatively-speaking) calibre weapons with models that are more appropriate, a quick google will provide them with plenty of ideas. But then add a separate category of Light weaponry which can be modelled on light anti-aircraft weaponry, going from small rifle calibre guns to 40/50mm anti-air cannons. There are plenty of models for each nation to choose from, and would allow people to still arm their ships with huge numbers of weapons and get the look correct.

They could be planning to later on. Gotta remember the game's in Alpha, so a lot of models could change given time. Heck, we just got a ton of British hulls. So just be patient. It'll most likely come. They've already changed some models based on class.

    Enforcing British Rule.

Drop the "the" for a more natural sound.

Hey, I’m just using the in game name.

Felt the same, this game is much less enjoyable when it get to such a big fleet scale, then I decided to go normal speed instead of x5 and it was easy to manage and win, still felt less fun then most of the missions/battles I had in this game and the AI isn't helping both on my side and the enemy.

But then another issue crops up, who wants to play some of these battles at 1x? They take hours frequently, which considering most gamers have less than 2 hours in a row to play necessitates the need to save in battle. That's something that can wait IMO to be implemented.

Yeah, it’s less an issue of is it possible, and more one of time. Most people wouldn’t have time to make their ship and fight the battle, especially these massive ones, without having to leave it running in the background or the like.

  3. So, first let me get out of the way that, overall, I love this update, and the game as a whole. One of the best investments I've made, at times there are things that kinda... get me. The new mission is one of them.

Enforce the British Rule sounds like an awesome mission in theory, a ton of ships and massive British battleships at your disposal, but in practice, I'm finding it more... annoying. There's another mission that follows a similar pattern, though I forget its name, but the sheer mass of ships in your fleet that make the mission seem awesome come at a bit of a detriment. Mostly, because the AI still needs some work, the mission becomes a cluster of micromanagement that you can't keep up with. I know it isn't the worst think a game can have, but the mission ends up feeling impossible to beat from the mass of your own fleet. I don't know if I'm the only one, and I'd love to see any suggestions and feedback on what I said. Could just be me.

  4. Well, I'm new to the game, and I've loved it so far, but I've run into a snag going through the Naval Academy. The first is Defeat the Semi-Dreadnought. I've tried all three current hulls, mixed batteries, single caliber batteries, fast ships, torpedoes, using the CLs when they're armed with torpedoes. Probably the only thing I haven't tried is low caliber mains. No matter what, the semi-dread either ends up fleeing leaving me unable to deliver accurate shots, turns me into the HMS Hood, or nails me with a flooding shot. So after so many attempt I decided to take a break and try the mission after it, the first convoy protection mission.... This one I have more words on.

I love the randomness even in this missions, cause it makes them highly replayability, but this one mission almost seems rigged. Of six times playing it, I only got into the actual fight once because the cruisers would focus in on one transport and hammer it before I'd get a chance to even attempt to protect it. Even more then the semi-dread, this mission just knocked the wind outta my sail because it felt like you just couldn't get a chance to do anything. At least the semi-dread I felt like I was getting close. Again, I love the randomness of the game in general, but for this mission in particular it seems like a detriment.

Does anyone have any tips for these two missions, cause I'm honestly at a loss.
