These are features that I think could help fresh faced little rookie captains of Naval Action deal with the harsh reality of the seas.  Feel free to add any other possible rookie saving features below.

    • Add the Tips and Tutorial menus as very visible pop up flashing icons on screen as default after game installation. Add an option under settings to remove them.

    • Should mention getting exp to gain ranks is based on damage done in battle under Tips.

    • Under a time limit of 30 days rookies get free ships according to their rank up to 5th rates.

    • The rookie free ships for sell for 0 reales. One random ship that fits their max crew with a 1hr cooldown at their nation’s capital port.  (Only for non hardcore nations; should be mentioned in the menu while choosing a nation)

    • Under the same 30 day period free repairs are given through redeemables. Can’t be sold or traded. Add a mail notice when more free redeemables become available.

    • Add combat tips to the Tips Menu:

      • Ship angling

      • Broadside fire while boarding

      • Wind control

      • Different amounts of crew damage by different types of guns

      • Ships varied superior points of sail

    • Add a small graph showing the points of sail for each ship under the ship stats menu or ship equipment menu

    I like this a lot....+1.

  2. Loki is a great addition of not abused by adding things like mods and always fresh ships etc.

Make it a once per day dlc but leave it as it is in regards to how you join and the random condition of what ship you get.

Anything else could be trolling. Also keep it anonymous its better for the person being attacked not to know who they are fighting.

Also for those who don't like the idea of a PVE battle getting some  PVP treatment you may be surprised at how well some the players who fight AI a lot can be in battle. They are not all soft carebears as you may think.

I don't object, whether I would use it or not is irrelevant, (I can't be arsed to aim my cannons, lets have an 'auto-aim' perk. if you don't like it don't use it). The question is: Does it improve the game as a whole? I would say 'no' because it's a perk that gives you one less thing to do (navigate). I think Koltes' suggestion is more in depth and immersive and makes for a more interesting sailing experience and is ultimately more fun. This game needs more stuff to do, not less.

    soz x2 post

This is a perk which does not effect combat or my game play in any way.

It only eases the game for those who want to use it, especially new players or those that can't be 'arsed' to navigate.

I also think Koltes suggestion is fine but this perk does not need to be removed because of it.

Some people want immersive some don't, so give options for all not the few.

  4. NO !!!

    Leave the map alone.

    Map size is great.

This is not an arcade game.

Our clan sails everywhere and has plenty of OW PVP everyday and we never fight in the R Zones or the P Zones.

Sail out of Tumbado, Navasse, Aves, etc and you will have lots of PVP.

The large map is also great for traders and for those who want to get away.

    Happy Christmas.

Sextant is a very widely used perk now. players love sextant.

This is a great perk especially for new players.

I do not and would not use it because I have been in game for over two years.

Keep it for those that want to use it.

I do not understand why anyone would object to something that they don't have to use themselves ?

If you don't like it.....don't use it.

It's your choice to sail into enemy RIZ. Do it and live with the consequences or leave it. Mechanics are clear.

We could moan about people not leaving their zone, but that's a different topic.

The R ZONE used in this way is a poor mechanic.

It was intended as a helping hand for new players not a comfort zone for rear admirals.

If YOU tag an enemy you should do so without fake helping mechanics.

most timers reverted to ea launch 2 mins.

    Tested the zone.

We (pirate) were tagged by Spanish in Spanish R ZONE.

    We (pirate) had 2 min.

    Spanish stayed open permanently.

    This is very silly.

If someone tags you in their zone it should be 2 mins for both sides imo.

It's their choice to tag you in their own zone.

i even want to go further than muskets and pistols and grenades what

    about... an 10 turn fire Fuse? (perk 8 points)    {instead... of the determined defender [ and denial of boarding what we have now] ]}

    kaboom

Haha now that's an idea worth looking at. 😁

boarding mini game in a 1v1 without any other combat input is simply broken. A fully boarding modded ship will kill a non boarding modded ship in a few turns with a crew loss of around 20% because all the boarding mods wreck moral. That is a guaranteed win with a 20% crew loss.

Your examples make no sense at all.

A fully modded ship with anything will always beat another who has no mods.

Player skill can't be factored into a game because you can't make rules for player  skill differences.

Mods are what makes N.A. individual and how you deploy them is a choice you make.

Don't fit any board mods, that's fine but don't cry that boarders are killing you when you lose.

  10. PvP zone ROE if done properly would take the pressure from the safe zones.

However safe zones should only be for low level players anyway.

The trading economy should be 5 x more profitable than it is now to encourage trading and recoup losses.

The AI distribution is good imo because it makes players explore the big world otherwise it is to easy to become safe zone reliant.

Remember there was no safe zone once and the population was actually bigger. To much reliance on safety nets will hamper development of players skills but for low level players it is needed if you use a PvP reward system as the game does now.

Ai bots can be dangerous in combat now if used correctly and I think as a whole the game is moving the right way.

Crying, however has never been as bad in game as it is now. Now a different BR is considered a gank and that's a bit sad.

    Captains

NPC positioning changes next with Port UI patch. Feel free to use this information for changing locations for your future activities.

    One Port - One Flag.
NPC fleets will carry the flag of the port they are assigned to. Dutch ports will send out Dutch traders, Dutch combat patrols, Dutch fleets to sea. Sail along them to get extra protection when trading or returning to base. Of course traders and NPC patrols will venture to enemy areas, but expect to see mostly Dutch ships if you are sailing through Dutch coasts.

    Regions Matter
To help players find their perfect hunting spot, to help with search and destroy missions and to provide natural chokepoints and meeting places for players certain classes of NPC ships/fleets will now prefer to sail specific regions.

For example: Yucatan Region, Hispaniola, and Lower Antilles will mostly have 1-3 st rates ship of the line sailing solo or in fleets.

Missions avoid this requirement. Mission will provide targets based on mission not on region.

This is looking good........more realism to sailing patterns and nationality of those ships is a good move. Also agree with others that NPC fleet/ships should attack players if BR is +100.
