  1. Well thanks for a totally ignorant response.  I'm running an AMD 7850K processor with 8 graphics cores and a Radeon R9 270 with 2G of memory.  My connection is such that I download 9G files in 14 minutes.  I play WoT and other games at the highest graphics settings with frame rates around 60-70.   Even on the US server, my frame rates run about 30, which is lower than I get playing any other online game.

I'll trade you. I get 15 on the lowest game settings, regardless of how crazy or not the battle is. Of course, I have a shitbox computer with integrated graphics.

  2. Hello Captains

Patch will be deployed next week (hopefully)

In this patch the PVP EU Three  server will be closed down and merged into PVP EU One.

All resources and assets will be compensated and/or merged into PVP EU One as redeemables.

Resources merged into PvP EU 1

    • Gold
    • Resources from warehouses
    • Ships
    • Upgrades
    • Known blueprints
    • Outposts and buildings will be lost but the price of construction or upgrades will be compensated in gold
Important points for players from PVP EU 3 (this info does not concern players from all other servers)

    • Assets are transferred automatically, you don't have to do anything
    • Assets are transferred to account - not as players. If you wanted to change the name or nation - its a good chance to do it.
    • All merged assets will be given to as redeemables
    • If you had 200 various types of resources, ships, items you will have 200 redeemables in your list. To minimize the redeemables list feel free to optimize your warehouses selling assets you don't need.
    • Merged assets are provided for server account. It does not matter if you have a player on EU 1 or not

      • If you don't have a player on PVP EU 1 you can create a player and he will have all merged assets from the EU 3 server in the redeemables list
      • If you have a player on PVP EU 1 he will have all merged assets in the redeemable list
    • Deleting vs creating players

      • Do not use redeemables if you are not sure about the existing player his nation and his name
      • If you don't have a player you don't have to worry about the assets - create the player and redeem the assets
      • If you do have the player please think carefully about using the redeemables. Better be sure if you want to play for that nation or keep that name
    Suggestion for safety

Do not use the redeemables until you are absolutely sure about nation choice - keep them in the redeemables list. Un-used redeemables are tied to account and will always be on the redeemables list.

Please translate this information for the national forums. Be careful as these instructions are important.

    TLDR version

    • All assets will be merged as redeemables
    • Do not use redeemables until you made up your mind about the nation and player name

Lets discuss if everything is clear and we will post this announcement on steam as well.

Good day, admin. Thanks for that heads up- question so I can pass it along to my clan: any plans to merge PVP2 as well, either now or in the future? The bulk of our players have been on hiatus as it was understood that the PVP servers would be merging across the board.

    Thanks!

  3. The one thing I don't like is the idea of capture zones, makes me think of tank battles in War Thunder and doesn't seem appropriate to an age of sail game. But this is just alpha, so we will see. :) I like the idea of forts to destroy, read that somewhere but can't remember.

The forts have been discussed and previews given in a couple of different threads.

Regarding the cap zones- it's a way to break out of the player versus tower mechanic that currently exists. That gets tiresome quick. It'll be interesting to see where it goes from there- I suspect that it'll make more sense when land makes its way into PBs. Strategic choke points and the like would make sense in the context of a port battle and holding those areas to prevent an enemy from getting through reinforcements and such strikes me as a reasonable alternative.

  4. PLZ rework that BP System i craftet 10! gold exceptional ships but still no f.. blueprint!

Please stick to the topic at hand.

A BR limit just like any limit will produce an optimal set of ships to bring to any battle, the current optimal set is 25 first rates, a br limit will produce an optimal set that people will bring over and over again. And if I am going to sail the same this every day to PB it might as well be a 1st rate.

I think you have the right of it- I don't think that there will be a paradigm shift until land and sea topography actually become a part of the port battle system. Any changes as far as restricting port zones or a BR system will just mean that someone or another will devise an optimal way to do the battle. I think the best thing to do right now is sit tight, watch what changes come, and test them. Hard to offer constructive solutions until we know what the port battle is actually going to wind up looking like.

  5. Clausewitz's opinion has war coming AFTER politics hence the use of the word "continuation".

Since in Naval Action we already have war - it would seem getting involved heavily into politics would be a step backwards....at least as far as "action" is concerned.

Right, you have "war", now. It has no focus or purpose past killing dudes. If that's your want, it can be far more easily achieved utilizing the provided duels, small battles, and large battle lobbies. Politics relating to the OW situation already exist and already drive the warfare there. Creating a formalized system for it is not only reasonable but also beneficial to the health of the game. Giving folks who are inclined to be a part of the process an outlet is a useful thing, especially as this actually allows for the spread of power and mechanics to allow informal policy of affiliated clans and players to have formalized meaning.

*Edits for spelling and punctuation.  Replying on mobile is a pain in the ass, sometimes.

  6. I signed up to play Naval Action - not Political Action - if I want soap opera I simply need to turn on CBS in the afternoon.

"War is the continuation of politics by other means."

Clausewitz has a fair point. Politics drive the conflicts and the conflicts are what make a PVP MMO fun. This proposed update doesn't force you to partake in the political climate- it does however formalize a state of affairs that already exists in game and gives it purpose and direction. That, I think, is a step in the right direction.

  7. Ya, the attack fail due to BR thing seems to be kind of wonky, sometimes it works, sometimes enemy can tag one ship out of a big armada, sometimes a few.

I would prefer there was no BR restriction at all, I'd also prefer the join timer on battles was longer.

Both are gamey mechanics that people will game.

This guy knows what's up. I honestly didn't mind the longer timer. Fought plenty of battles in my favor and against. It was paet of the game. Getting ganked in a sandbox is just part of this thing. Someone'll always figure out a way to make it happen. Some of my favorite encounters worked out this way- got a lot of good laughs at my expense, and a lot of cavalry riding to save the day.

  8. This is our last last warning. Captains

Lord nelson was a 1st Duke of Bronte

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bronte,_Sicily

He got this for military achievements.

We said in the first post that

    • If you don’t own land you can exhibit heroic feats – then you can become a lord and get land by lets say winning a lot in PVP
As this is a very important topic captains who cannot read properly will be removed from forums in a friendly manner for 7 days (by withdrawing positng), because their feedback becomes useless if they cant understand what is being discussed.  This topic is very important and we don't want people who cant read giving us feedback. We apologize in advance but we want to only focus on things that are relevant in this discussion

I don't have a lot to add as far as discussion goes- I quite like what you all have presented, especially the multiple avenues for "having a say," as it were. My big question though is this- do you all have a timeline for implementation? I suspect that actually seeing it laid out would go a long way to finding any consequences and side-effects of this implementation. Just food for thought.

  9. Noticed that some Constitutions on sale last night (PvE) only had a Durability of 4. Was that intended?

They've always had a Dura of 4.  The Connie where the durability begins to decrease and I'd assume other fourth rates with it while third rates have three, second rates have two, and first rates have 1 durability.

  10. You are underestimating time required to police the NN section; time that can be used elsewhere for example on helping new players, searching for great design ideas and monitoring the gameplay discussions.

Admin; I understand the impulse and the desire to remove the timesink for your mod staff (trust me I do- I'm a moderator for a fairly large subreddit, and I've moderated forums before), however- even with the shitposting that sometimes comes in, this forum, more than just about anything drives the RvR conflicts in game.  The back and forth smacktalking and rivalries we have in here contribute to the flavor of the game in a lot of ways, especially given that there are no formalized diplomacy mechanics in place right now.  I get that you want to focus your team on working on the development aspect and you want the playerbase on these forums to move to that end, however I'd also like to point out that in order to see some of the areas that need improving, you need conflict drivers, such as these forums.

That said, I think this may be a misstep, and I'd encourage you to consider it as such.  Perhaps, even consider a different tack with it- look at leaving it lightly-to-unmoderated, except for egregious offenses.  That way, you satisfy your desire to free up your moderators for other threads where it's more black and white, and the players here can continue to do their thing and drive the conflict that provides the content.

  11. Why do you keep speaking of "the Brits" as if they are one monolithic group? I personally couldn't tell you the first thing about port timers...

Generally because British territory is who we're butting up against, in general, so that means your nation (assuming that you are a Brit in the first place) is the one that the French, on the whole, are engaging on the regular.

  12. I believe his statement was directly referring to the accusation of us doing it in a port battle, and the one for Fred in particular... an accusation i am sure will be withdrawn?

Well, unless Lucifer has been using Slamz as a sock puppet, I don't think he's the one who made the accusation. ;)

Are you wanting a picture of the players in that port battle?

Naw, someone had mentioned there was video.  We'd like to watch the video for learning purposes, among other things.

  13. Is a Post Captain moving a ship around in OW  relevant to an unsubstantiated (and refuted) accusation of Brits stacking BR in a port battle?

It's twice as effective for a defender to do this... but you don't see us accusing you of it, even though you could well be since we cant see your ranks easily.

    You sneaky French men ;)

Naw, that was my good buddy Lord Lucifer refuting Roberts' assertion that, "no brit would be dumb enough to undercrew a third rate."

  14. We were talking with my friend about addition of whales and dolphins to the game. He said: " There are already whales in the game, I saw them blowing water in the last batle.". Twenty minutetes later he realized that the blowing whales were missed shots that landed in water far behind the target. :D

    This story is 100% true.

Well, clearly we have at least one porpoise in game; it wasn't too much of a stretch for your friend...

  15. Thanks, you seem like an alright dude yourself. Let's break this down a little bit, I think you guys misunderstand the terms you are using.  Zerging actually refers to using a massive amount of low level units to overpower an enemy, think StarCraft, I'm sure some of you have played it.  Blitzing, while also fast, usually includes greater firepower, but I digress, because what has happened is already in the past.  You cant logically look at this thread and the start of it as something that's not going to piss people off.  It's pretty much trash talk without directing really at first, it really just shows what kind of person he is.  Also, we're Zerging because you guys can't get the numbers, but when we can't get the numbers, I'm pretty sure we don't b**** and moan about numbers.  I enjoy this game, but already know of people who have left, partially because of lack fo content, but also because they are sick of hearing all the trash "the French" talk, and I put that in quotes so everyone knows I'm referring to someone elses view.  This thread is not good for the game, should be locked and set to drift.

Again, it's a perspective thing in this case.  We're speaking ambiguously, and not down into the specific definitions.  That said, I think progress has been made across the board on the tail end of this thread as far as equanimity.  All things considered- WIS has gained a pretty heavy dose of respect from the French, and I think that's something folks had been trying to convey.  Take that for what it's worth.  I'd suggest you talk to your folks who've bounced out, and have 'em give it another go.  Y'all might be surprised.

  16. This thread is a joke, comical at best.  If you reread the first post and don't come away thinking that the post wouldn't cause people to gripe or cause hate just like previous threads, you need to go back to grade school.  The whole post is childish.  WIS does not come on here and boast about port battle victories, let alone undefended victories.  Can someone explain the difference between zerging and blitzing, pretty sure they both imply fast rushing as Google never lies, so trying to call something a different name with the same meaning, well that's just stupid.  You all keep talking about caring about the game and the population, yet you continue to open more threads of useless crap that become a breeding ground for name calling and unneeded accusations, which eventually leads to an appendage measuring contest.

    Fletch,

Sorry you see it that way.  I suggest you look at it from the perspective of the French, who had been reduced to holding Fort Royal, and a single shallow water port less than a month ago.  The reversal of fortune is something to take pride in.  Anyhow, I do sincerely hope you find some enjoyment in this game, otherwise.  You're not, on the whole, a bad dude.  At any rate, to answer your question as simply as I can: Zerging, as we are defining it, versus Rushing- Zerging is bringing in the horde. Rushing is speed attacks.  Therein lies the difference.  That said: the initial complaints about zerging were that we'd noticed a significant increase in forces coming from the British side.  Considering that on a good day, it was difficult for us to fill a port battle, that is the perception we received.  I can see, in reverse, how that looks on your end.  I'll note that I was gone this weekend due to military obligations, so I have no idea what precisely transpired, but I know our guys moved to cap as many ports as quickly as possible to move forward with our strategic plan.  Such is what we do.

Anyway, cheers.  See ya 'round and we'll trade cannonfire again, I'm sure.

  17. If my memory serves me correctly the french helped in the coalition against the pirates and after the aves stuff some of the pirates went French and then suddenly the french had a new goal and that was the same as the pirates, whether or not it was only 12 OMG members, those 12 did a lot for France and France is now where it is at because of OMG.

You misunderstand my point. I'm speaking as to the character of the rest of France. I am not speaking after our contributions to the cause. I do not think them insignificant.

  18. Sir,

That isn't remotely accurate. We appealed repeatedly with the French to work together against the Pirates; but several prominent French captains and some British captains with other units made that nearly impossible.

After Aves the French national character became largely pirate, thus sealing your reputations with our nation.

Alas, RvR in this game is messy and unmanageable and needs much development.

To be fair to the rest of my French brethren, your statememt on the French character becoming "largely pirate" is grossly inaccurate. OMG brought over twelve formerly pirate players. We no more changed the French landscape, attitude, and tone then you yourself did. We have, if anything, stayed in line and contributed strategic guidance where asked. We've assisted our allies as we saw fit, and we've fought with the rest of the French nation to first secure French interests and protect our allies. I personally have fought you and yours on a number of occassions and when we've had stand up engagements I'd go so far as to say that beyond the occassional tongue in cheek barb, that we have been relatively cordial. That all said- I have not seen a shift in attitude of those who were French before we came over- except to meet fire with fire. Call that what you will, but the French are no more pirates than you.
