  1. This thread has become ridiculous, with our British players now the subject of derision because what? We enjoy playing the game? We're now the bad guys for logging on, having a good time, and training up our lower ranks against AI fleets?

You're all just desperately looking for a scapegoat, I don't think it's productive to frame more dedicated players as what's wrong with the game. Power imbalances are ubiquitous in MMOs until players hit the level cap, which will happen soon.

I would have quit this game long ago if all there was to do was to gank traders/ lone noobs. Like I said in my previous post, we have no PVP around Jamaica -- the capturing of ports more distant to Jamaica is just an attempt to move a front line closer to the PVP.

So what are the solutions proposed here? Gank our players then run and play dock games, or complain we brought too much force to bear on those harassing our forces? Stop fighting AI fleets (the only thing that gives our casual players reliable content when they long in)? Cool... Sounds like a lot of fun...

The game needs mechanisms to provide good PVP content to players, I agree. Perhaps this could be achieved with instances popping up on the map. Something like 'Beached Treasure Ship [small]' to give the lower tier players something to fight over. Something like King of the Hill with a passive gold income for being inside the circle.

One thing you don't need to worry about is Britain gong the way of the Pirates (many of whom didn't quit, but joined France and Sweden) we have a really solid base of players who are passionate about the game, the age of sail, and crushing other factions under our bootheel. Don't rely on those factors changing any time soon.

  2. No man, Slamz is right.  I was almost there at that battle and listened to all the short length of it.  That battle was over so fast many of us couldn't even sail to it from Visquez.  As soon as the towers went down the >2-1 starting BR instantly ended the fight.  You knew it was going to go that way and its why you set it up as such.  It guaranteed a win without a fight and is the epitomy of zerging.  If that is what you want you got it.  I am not going grind NPC's until my eyes bleed to play that game.  Take all the ports you want they are yours for the taking with no actual game play to be had by anyone.  What your doing is not PVP and didn't require any skills beyond math.

Zerging, Using massive amounts of weak, or generic units, to attack an enemy. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=zerging

So what your saying is, it's unfair for people to advance in the game because you don't want to?  Do what you need to do to get better, your time could be better spent hitting a few fleets instead of whining on the forums.

I completely agree with Slamz. Factions that have not had the luxury of owning half of the map while also having the playerbase to more or less secure it have benefited GREATLY from having near boundless resources, favorable PvP engagements, and the ability to farm fleets effectively without being harassed for the most part. That is not a complaint either, just a fact, and one that grossly shows itself as a problem when it comes to port battle mechanics when it completely counter-acts any possible PvP while a superior force can just run a train around all 5 towers and kill them in one pass then leave.

From the outside looking in it may look like that but we get our fair share of problems. There has never been endless resources, we have had droughts of certain basic materials. It has never been harassment free fleeting either, other nations like to jump or players in missions, there is usually a group out to gank us every day from multiple boarders. We are a large nation but every clan has a different opinion on what we should be doing so a unified nation we are not. I am glad every other nation thinks we have it easy, it could mean we are doing something right or either we just don't complain about it in the forums. I do actually believe port battles are broken but not in the way you think. You can't just sail around and kill 5 towers then leave in defend battles, you actually have to sink a few ships. The french could have beat us if they brought their big ships out, they had a Victory in port that they choose not to use. In the battle they were very unorganized and it seemed they didn't want to commit to the fight when they had towers on their side. I was expecting some losses but they just let us walk in there and take it. After the towers were down we only had to sink one or two ships for the BR difference in order to win the port. I don't like that their has to be a BR difference to win, we have easily defended ports in the past with lower BR and numbers just from having those towers on our side. It should be harder for the attacker but something does need to change.

  3. There are no less than 4 GB clans that are now fighting us Swedes and the French. You, sir, are a simpleton if you are unaware of this after seeing the PB screen shots, or are just running off at the mouth due to ignorance.

Firstly no need for name calling, you're not a pirate anymore.

4 GB clans, I thought it was the entirety of the GB Nation that was zerging you? I really wouldn't count 2 people from the same clan in one battle as an entire clan being there. If I was to join a fight against Sweden, that doesn't mean that all of SoB has now resolved to join your war. I've looked at all the screenshots and it's clearly WIS and TCF who occasionally get help unless I somehow missed a screenshot that shows a battle with 25 GB memebers that are not mostly WIS and TCF.

  4. Britain is so large that they can have several clans operating on several fronts, yes.  Does that mean describing Britain as a zerg nation is inaccurate? No.  Sweden has about 20 active players online.  So when a fraction of the British forces move in to take their ports with close to 40 active ships, does it really matter if that is just a fraction of Britain or not?  No.  Does it mean that Britain is picking on the little guy? Yes.

GB doesn't have several clans operating in several fronts, GB has two small clans fighting two nations around Puerto Rico who have to ask the plebs for help as they don't have the numbers to fill a port battle. SoB will occasional fight with the US but as far as I'm aware that's the only battles going on. GB is not zerging anyone or else the numbers would be a lot higher, GB is not picking on anyone it's just two small clans taking a dead nation's ports for whatever reason. Please stop with these post that make it out like Sweden is such a victim and GB is just a tyrant nation out to reduce you to your capitol when that is clearly not the case.
