I have questions regarding charging too. It appears that units locked in melee with each other are still susceptible to musket fire and cannons. Most of the times my units would charge, make contact with several brigades in the frontline, while other enemy brigades and cannons simply fallback and fire at my brigades, causing horrendous casualties. This problem is especially noticable on Confederates, where charging is the call of the day. Is this design deliberate? I mean, in Gettysburg it is highly unlikely that soldiers can pick out targets amidst a mass of men. Or am I not utilizing the rebs the right way? Either way, help is very appreciated! Cheers!
