  1. It does seem that wind would play an important role in the way sailing ships function, and I would welcome anything that makes that system more complex. Sure it would make the game harder for me, but it would also be a sensible addition to a game where ships rely on wind to do their shippy stuff.

  2.  No one wants to risk their precious ship.

This seems to be the biggest thing. Ships are valuable, especially the larger ones. If the player is going against a better ship or a ship that they know has a good chance in sinking them, they probably don't want to risk it. And if they initiate combat against a smaller ship that they have the edge on, that smaller ship is going to want to run away.

  3. Account or character? Because I kind of removed the character I redeemed the Yacht on (I know, not the smartest move)

I made a new character and played a bit, but the Yacht's on a cooldown and the PVP server is still locked. I have a feeling that I might have really screwed things up...

Edit- Just read a new thread from Addy. The date got extended, so I think I'll be fine.

  4. The wait really can be annoying. I had to wait for a bit as well. Meanwhile, you might want to play some other game or do something else to pass the time. We'll be getting a new patch, and you guys will be just in time for it.

As for anyone who didn't have a chance to purchase the game, you can always email the devs, explaining why you want to be in the test. It worked for me.

  5. We plan to add musketeers to ships. unfortunately visually there will not be a lot of them because of performance issues (or we have to have them look ugly).

Swivels will be added later. Some of the good ideas from this topic will of course will be implemented

    keep them coming please!! :)

I understand, but maybe a setting that will allow more musketeers for people with better computers? What they did in WoWS was an option to animate small objects in the settings, which makes plane squadrons show every plane and AA guns a lot more intense and animated.

  6. I'm all for giving nation specific ships. It makes it so nations have larger differences, not just different names. Advantages and disadvantages to each nation. However, as Maturin mentioned, this could prove problematic as some nations would be lacking important types of ships. One nation can have really OP ships and other nations won't have the necessary ships to counter it.

I think as more ships are added, this problem would shrink more and more. But locking ships out of countries right now isn't something I would do now or in the near future, I would wait until the game is more polished and we have a lot more ships.

  7. I'm not sure I understand these comments about WoWS lacking the need for skill. Certainly the mechanics are not difficult, and aiming, for instance, is relatively easy; but as you progress up the tiers, strategy becomes important. You can't just sail around shooting things, not even in a DD. those who work together utilizing ship cooperation as one would expect, cruisers providing AA for battleships for instance, have a significant advantage. Not unlike NA, team play is quite important.

I would have to disagree. With a BB, I'll sail at the edge and shoot everything that's red. All my 4+ kill matches have gone like that. There are a few places to go- west, east, or the middle. A, B or C. As a DD, it's always the same. Sail around, get spotted, wiggle around and launch torps and then run away while popping smoke. The only time I've seen teamwork really make a difference is making anti-air formations or going for a cap. If maps were larger, then where you go would matter, but in a minute or two you could already change your direction and be at the other side of the map.

Yeah, as a group you'll do better simply because you have more firepower and you spread the HP. But that applies to a lot of games. But it's the simple mechanics that kill the game for me, at 20km all you have to do is fire 1 turret at a time and you'll get hits easy. No need to adjust for anything besides some shell travel time. However skill is also pretty important. I've played against some of the best BB players back in Alpha, and they'll 1-2 salvo a lot of ships in their battleships. If you know where to aim, you'll be getting massive damage salvos. The best DD players will attack you when you least expect them and had no idea they were coming, and the best carrier captains can make a wall of torpedo bombers guaranteed to do massive damage.

I loved WoT because of how much depth really lies masked under the simple at first mechanics. Easy to pick up, hard to master. The thing about WoWS is that it's easy to pick up but doesn't have that master part.

  8. Ahhh, WoWS...

Played a lot of it back in Alpha and was really active on the forums for it. Game used to be very different back then, stuff like buoyancy bar, shallow waters, larger maps, controllable scout planes...

Devs started removing those things because it made the game "too complicated"

Once closed beta came, the game changed and turned into WoT on water, though I would argue it was even less complex than WoT.

Devs stopped communicating as much as they did in Alpha too. Torpedoes were nerfed and DDs were made pretty useless except for high tiered USN DDs (8-10)

BBs became easy mode monsters that crushed everything, and way too many people played them, and they all called for even more torp nerfs and nerfs to torpedo bombers, the only offensive weapon carriers really have.

Eventually I just couldn't take it. It's not necessarily a bad game, but nothing compared to what it used to be, and what it could have been. I've left it behind.

Been playing it for almost a year and a half.  It was amazing in early-mid Alpha, now it's shallow, too easy, and boring.

Hopefully they move it back towards the complex, deep game that it was in early 2014.

Unfortunately the Devs are happy with the direction the game has gone. Believe me, they've seen our feedback. However, with simple and easy mechanics, they can get more people to play the game.

Sorry if this post seems too ragey. I really still do hope that the game will go back to its former glory, but the chances are slim. They have made some minor changes in the right direction, added some heavily requested things, but we still have bathtub sized maps and extremely shallow gameplay. Now I'm just occasionally lurking in the WoWS forums, seeing patch notes and the state of the game. But the game itself isn't very enjoyable to me anymore.

More content won't change anything, what the game is missing is depth and lasting appeal.

  9. Derp. Should have looked around the forums more. Apparently even though it said DX11, it doesn't actually work.

Will this game ever get Shader 4 support or will I just have to upgrade?

  10. I would like to say maintaining a civil environment is 100% achievable, however, that is absolutely not possible.  Still, I believe that should be our goal.  All players can do their part by setting a good example while in the game and on the forum.   The poor behaving players or posters will always be a very small minority an dthere is no reason the vast majority of players or the game itself should suffer for their behavior.  There will always be trolls who get their giggles from aggravating people but some of the problem lies in our reaction to such goading.  We cannot control what other people say or do but we can always control how we react to such things.

I would hope that we do not experience here what I have witnessed in other games, but I believe we all have a responsibilty to do our share in maintaining an enjoyable gaming experience.   Whether by reporting unacceptable behavior or by simply being the type of player we want to play with, we have our role in the matter.

Exactly. If we don't try, then we have already failed. Having a 97% sterile community is still amazing, so let's strive to achieve the best community possible.

Just a friendly reminder, remember to respond properly to toxicity. Fighting fire with fire isn't going to get us anywhere.

  11. I would like to see

we should be allowed in open world to "dump the guns" to get away from incoming ships and loose the weight of them

also like 1 officer on the quarter deck just 1

when you are chasing a ship or wanting to go fast you should be able to put up the side sails for extra speed

I don't know if there already is a weight system, but it would be nice. Tossing some guns overboard would allow for less weight, in turn resulting in faster speeds if needed, at the cost of firepower. Would add to the depth of the game.
