  1. I'd like to see all of the controls that normally use the numberpad be bindable to something else.

The reason being that I intend to build myself a nice little controller for Naval action (with some three way spring-loaded switches for the yards, a pot for the wheel, and a number of buttons for things like deck locking/ammo type/repairs/crew mode), the ability to simply have joystick buttons for those number pad functions would greatly simply things for me. Selfish, but I can't be the ONLY ONE-well, maybe I am.

    Some more minor things.

An option to flip the windpath arrow around 180, most weather-vanes in the US point into the wind, not with it, I STILL get myself flipped around now and again. Bearing numbers might be nice.

A little Tilt indicator might be nice, but is not nearly necessary.

The ability to name ships is probably impractical, but would have it's uses. Also, I'd note that I'd be tempted if alternate skins where sold for the game.....

These are just a few things that I've been considering.

  2.

I was going to show my earlier matches first, but the way Dred Zeppelin took being outnumber some 5-6 to 1 and didn't complain or rage made me want to share. the narration somehow got off time a teeny bit, ahwell. That's what I get for sticking to Windows Movie Maker.

Hope yall enjoy! I also have the one where both of my masts where shot off, haven't uploaded that one because it's late/early, and if I watch it again I'll laugh really loud.... I live in an apartment.

  3. if you're using analogue controls, you seem to have finer control of things. It least as it would appear.

I found this out quite by accident last night. as the rudder was attached to the left brake on my rudder pedals.... just adjusted my foot slightly to adjust turns... (moved it to the joystick later, it works much better there!)

  4. Hi,

Just got started on this game, but something that has totally confused me during gameplay and made me do mistakes in the heat of the moment is the wind compass. It shows the direction of the wind 180 degrees wrong. In meteorolgy and in nautical terms, the wind direction is always shown from where the wind is blowing, not to where it is blowing. For example a northerly wind is a wind that blows from north to south. So the arrow head on the compass should show FROM where the wind is coming.

yeahhh, I've gotten it flipped around a few times. I always think of it in terms of a weather vane.

  5. Now have the Game, and even had a battle or two! However, logging in with steam uses my older steam name, the one I made that account with (when you change your moniker, it doesn't change the original account name, it should use the current nickname out of consitancy with other Steam games, though that's a rather trivial bug, unless one changed their steam name due to harrassment or the like.)... Not sure what the 'Default' login is, is that the same one I use on the forums?

  6. They're two completely different animals entirely. World of Tanks is good Arcadey tank fun, World of ships might be that way for ships... And World of Warplanes is an unmitigated horror who's name should be struck from the records of history.

Not sure where NA will fit here, but it's not a World of X or Xthunder type game regardless.

  7. Ah, was going by the "simulator" line  ;)   I'm subscribed to both Sidestrafe and Ram.  Bought the game cause of ram; saw one video, bought it two minutes after  :D   Welcome aboard!  You'll have a blast.

Oh hey, I think I've seen you comment on Ram's and SS's videos (mainly the 'two minutes' part) Heh. It's neat to be into a game while the scene is as small as this.

  8. As do I. I can hardly imagine what monstrosities we would see on the ocean should player designed and not historical warships be allowed.

If the engine handled them like actual physics did, I'm willing to bet most of them wouldn't even *float* let along *sail* anywhere. Anything with 200 guns on it is going to be a tub, no matter WHAT sailplan it has... (or it wouldn't sail into the wind at all. FF IX's Blue Narcisiss comes to mind. It had two gaff rigged sails mounted port and stern. Looked cool, but generally useless for actual sailing)

I've done some 3D modelling, and I could see something as complicated as a sailing ship would be VERY hard to model, especially with the game at an early stage.

A few I could see working on/contributing That wouldn't nessicarily have a historical counterpart:

6-8 gun sloop. They had boats in this size, it's not unreasonable.

a Ketch (because they're also common, and Captain Ron referances).

A Caravele of some sort. (Because it'd be intresting to see what the engine and players did to make that older design work).

And it would be achronistic, but they DID have a seven-masted Schooner.... I'd be tempted just on account of how silly it is.

  9. Don't set yourself up for dissappointment. Its not a sim.

Not in the DCS sort of way, no. But it's certainly moreso then Black Flag. If it where a Sim by DCS standards, you'd need 30 players a ship.

    Sidestrafe, is that you?

It's sim-light for sure but it is pretty damn good at it  :D  Better than some so called sim and sim-light titles out there *cough* war thunder *cough*

Me, Sidestrafe? Nope! That made me chuckle for sure! (I'm DFX2KX most anywhere I go. I'm subbed to SS, though!)
