  1. I think cutting out avatars might be a good idea all together, i posted a little while ago in little things we want added, that I'd like ship interiors and cabins, let me explain what I mean before I go on.

Interiors and cabins can be made, but I wouldn't add a character to walk around. Maybe a view of the gun deck, hold and cabin, that might be used to see how things are fairing, such as the amount of reserves, supplies and food in the hold. Access the crew information, ship logs etc by clicking various objects in the cabin rather than walking around.

    Back on point.

This game would be better focusing on the ships, the sailing, the combat and the exploration. It doesn't however say you can't have it when visiting a port or location on an island. By all means have an avatar you can explore with, but we could also have a system that sends landing parties that explore for you, mapping out locations you might not be able to freely travel to with your avatar or might take to much time.

Not only that, but in those situations it leaves your ship very vulnerable to attack.

So with that in mind I suggest that they focus on ships etc, and use avatars only when in port or important locations.

As Cannonball said: "I'd rather play a game that does 10 things good than one thing great"

Imo ships are 75℅ complete and they will be even more completed with the next patch.

The things you wrote down are okay for a game made in 1990s.

If the team will keep ignoring furthermore the sandbox posibilities in this game, they surely wont get a wider audience! Therefore no mahney!

  2. Ship combat is ship combat, what else can I say? You focus on firing cannons and not running on the deck with a musket. I believe developer already said, there will be no sprinting on decks. They also have canister shot for killing crew. Not sure how far they want to push the game, but adding avatar on the deck will require a massive amount of work.

And?! Why did you bought the game?To play a half game or a full game wich has everything in it about naval combat, age of sail era life etc!

Really you guys do have this  tube seeing ? I mean you forget about many things lol...

  3. Only 5 things I would like to see that will make this game truly a naval action of oldern times kind of game and with a side benefit of discouraging kids(those immature) from ruining the game experiencing.(seeing its hardcore)

1.Ability to open or close gun ports to show hostility or not (and obviously admire cannons)

2.A captains cabin that can be customised, reflects battle damage(if it does happen) and like STO(star trek online)other players can meet and discuss tactics, converse etc.

    3.Hoisting of colours(see which country,mood etc)

4.Ability to customise your gun decks(each deck if im not mistaken has a certain weight limit and/or plays a part in the way ships manouever, the way they roll with waves etc) and thus no player can abuse this mechanic as they will be subjected to the laws of physics and nature if they do choose to put all their decks with 32 lbs.

5.ABILITY TO TALK WITH YOUR MOUTH not by typing chat boxes or requiring the use of third party apps like teamspeak running in the background.

all is good but the fifth is shit.

The game will just be flooded by many retards screaming and trolling into the microphone.

Use Teamspeak, its leightweigth and you can choose whom to you want to speak.

Also TS3 is well optimized so you will be heard and you will hear everyone you want to hear.

  4. No i wasnt pirate, i was french navy. I do remember the pirate capital being big but this one was even bigger, might have been a french capital. And only played the first year, this town was a reowrk and i remember people of forum complaining a lot about it.

I do agree that some of the environnement were well made, but eventually the avatar part of the game was what drove me off Potbs. It felt like a warcraft clone (altough i never played warcraft).

It was a shitty made wow clone...

Just like Star Wars The Old Republic is...

We dont need spells for avatar combat!

  5. Have you tried M&B in multi-player?  That ping is real....

Just keep this in mind.  Every hour spent on avatars is an hour not spent on developing the open world, ships and combat mechanics.  Unlike Flying Labs, I don't see these gentlemen putting out half-assed content just to appease people who demand it.

Because it has no well optimized servers.By the way since only 2 of you are figthing a battle the players would be only the captains. The crew would be NPC, but as in MB, it would be restrained to several groups like sharpshooters, infantry, cannoneers, sailors(melee). It could have a better made order system and also have restrictions. And to Mr.Henry, I think that would be feasibly imposibble to do a ''drive by'' with your ships just to shoot down the enemy captain.Muskeets should be made as they were, inacurrate even in 40meters.And for the sake of optimization this type of combat should be only appearing when you hooked the enemy ship and boarded it I mean, you cant just shoot  with your captain to the other ship if its not near your ship and hooked. I want a realistic but an exciting game also!

For example: 80% of your crew would appear only in the boarding

So it wont affect general gameplay.

2nd idea is that if the upper one is not possible,Maybe have an instance(with the same ship you have) where you can fight the battle beetween you and your enemy i mean the other guy who was boarded or boarded you. But, the ships wich are hooked to eachother in the open-world would still remain there open to damage, and if your ships get damaged you would get the notification.

  6. We absolutely don't need PotBS style avatar combat.  It was awful, unrealistic, and made zero sense.  I'm fine with boarding in the abstract.

I never said I want POTBS style avcom... lol.... o.O

I would like to see a Mount And Blade like hack &  slash type of a boarding with lots of npcs and players figthing on the ships!

Go look it up on youtube, in MB you can figth with 1000 of people in waves ( in one wave you can deploy only 100 people for example)

  7. On the thread of Females and Avatars

I MAY be the only Female on here at the moment and wanted my 2 cents worth.

First off, there were far more females sailing the Ocean Blue than you might think, and many of those were not just wives of officers, though there where the share of those.

Some of the most successful pirates in history have been female. While we all know of Anne Bonny and Mary Read, those two were not really successful, but they were women and they were pirates. Fact about Mary. Mary or Mark as she was known as served on board a British ship when she was younger. She then joined an Infantry unit, fought n the Nine Years war, joined a mounted unit and gained rank and was known as one of the best fighters in the unit. During this time she fell in love with a man and after the war the two wed. She dressed as a woman until the death of her husband and as was the ways of that time, it meant she had nothing. She joined another ship and sailed but the capt was not good. When Calico Jack and Anne raided her ship, she joined them. Anne found out about Mary being female and the two at times dressed as male, and other times as female. it was a known fact that the the two were female pirates

If you want some great books

Seafaring Woman: Adventures of Pirate Queens, Stowaways, and sailors wives

The Only Life that mattered - About Anne, Mary and Jack

    Mary Read, Sailor, Soldier, Pirate

    These are but a few

It is a fact that women did serve more often than though on ships. Most disguised themselves as males. This has been the case in history and goes back a long time.

So Yes, I want female avatars. Not all manly looking ones, but not overly serialized as that is not realistic either.

Now with that, what do I want - Be able to name my ship

Be able to change my country flags (This was done often to lure or to keep one's ship safe)

Not sailing through Land (I see this a lot and hope it is just a thing in test) I want to see damage from sailing into land or reefs

Music... Yeah that would be cool, period and typical naval songs

Voice commands - When you give the command to turn to port, have the voice say Turn to port like an officer repeating commands (No biggy if they are not but would be cool)

Storms - We have rough sea's and they can be a pan, but man are they cool to sail and fight in

Real weather aka fog, no wind

Ships sitting in water lower when loaded with heavy cargo, and sitting high when low cargo.

    Rumors

Ok that will do for now I think.

It is not even sure that we will even get avatars of any kind.... thanks to the minimalistic people of this game!

  8. I couldn't agree more. IF avcom were to ever find its way into Naval Action, it should follow its open-sea counterpart's design: skill wins the day, not equipment or "magic skills"

However, I do believe avatars will be imperative to the MMO design of the game, whether it is running around a port or on the deck of you own or another's ship (I would like to show my ship off to my peers should I get the chance, nothing like a bit of friendly boasting)  or even just sitting in a pre-battle lobby, an avatar will provide a face to put with a name, as well as (hopefully) customizable uniforms and clothing to match.

Non-combat interactions between players in ports, on decks, in lobbies, etc. with avatars would be paramount in order to keep the air of the MMO from going stale and to hopefully ensure that players do not see enemies or friends as simply another ship on the horizon. In my opinion at least.

100% agreeing with you, we need avatars, avatar combat, and clothing. For the sake of boarding.

We need it but not now , you guys at the dev team are doing a fine work  with concentration, but this shouldnt denie the thing that avatars will matter as time goes.

  9. Based on what I see in the movies on youtube, NA is already quite realistic, consistent with the history and physics when it comes to artillery combat.

Boarding? Sure, would be nice to have it too. But on one condition - only if it will be at such high level as the sailing and artillery is. And that's impossible. Current computers are too weak to simulate realistic boarding, combat in which hundreds of sailors and marines could be involved.

If it has to look like in PotBS (Benny Hill style running around deck), then better don't do it at all...

Ever heard of total war series?Todays computers can simulate far more things than you think, friend.

  10. personaly im against the crew being seen, waiste of programing time at this point,a low priority and as the game gets bigger some peoples computer will have to work harder to play the game, the crew takes up more computer load,at least give us the option to turn crew off,and yeah id rather see officers than a lot of old men in bad pants doin repetitive moves, think game mechanics and the world as its going to be and how this all interacts is more important than seeing a crew of old men with bad pants,,or at least give us the option for a female crew, with short dresses and high heels be way better and a big drawing card,,yeah..you realise girls might want to play the game and we seem to be gender bias here,,you say we can be what we want to be,so what is there for our female captains who must suffer all this thru a males perspective,,any way playing devils advocate here from another direction,,im sure our developers have it all worked out

Girls on the ships?xDDD Im not gay but, bro.Historically inacurrate.Lol IN HIGH HEELS XDD If you fancy seeing some boobs armor, then go play AION or the other shitty Korean mmorpgs.
