  1. After being there for the first and third event (althoug PvE) I agree with some voices here saying, that things should be stretched out a little bit. Maybe the event could take place on a bigger area, not about one quadrant but maybe about four. In these quadrants over the time of a few hours there will be ships spawning regularely, floating up from the depths of the sea like driftwood. Give more people more reason to stay there, raise their chances to get some plunder while looking around a little bit.

For more PvP though (and even for PvE with AI ships) maybe it would be better to put the wrecks inside an instance. Make it like an event marker where ships can enter all the time and try to reach a chest or wreck in the water. Give them a one minute countdown to plunder that wreck - then close the instance. Let people run and fight for some treasure, give people reason to screen their friends while they are loading the chests inside their holds. But let these "events" pop up for some hours in roughly the same big area, so give more people chances to find their luck.

    Event setup seems totally unfair

Imagine a new swedish/danish player with no outpost and no heavy trader .....

Events should leave every player an qual chance to get something out of them other than frustration.

Next time make it several fleets all over the map and limit the amount of wrecks 1 player can loot...

Maybe next time the event will just start on the other side of the map - now come on, it was just the beginning of something beautiful and funny!

  3. Looking at the global just now: after the storm on the gulf of Mexico, I think we shall expect a severe (shit)storm here on the forum

Just one suggestion: make the number of caches unlimited (or much higher) but put a (reasonably) limited time to get them OR put a limit per person in the loot. Problem solved, people happy.

Guess it is normal, that everybody wants a slice of the pie - well, I am just happy like crazy that the devs decided to create such a funny little event. In any way it was fun and even if I come out empty this time, I hope similar things will happen again very soon. Don' t be frustrated or angry, just embrace, that this game gets some interesting moments :)

  4. (Okay, let' s hope that this idea wasn' t posted in any different places around.)

So what I was thinking about is an alternate approach to the current system:

    1. Let each player have more than one officer, maybe up to 6 different ones, or maybe even 10.

    2. Each officer costs more than the one before, a little bit like the outpost-system.

    3. Each officer can learn only 1 perk - but this perk will grow with experience, thus for example let an officer with the fisher perk have +2.5% bonus with level 1, +5% bonus with level 2, etc. Maybe even use higher values here, because it will take time to reach higher values, like in this example give 5% bonus per level.

    4. When gathering officer experience, let the player chose in any port, on whom to assign these xp (alternatively, award the XP to the office who was chosen to be aboard the current ship).

    5. Each officer has only 1 life. If the player loses a ship, he must chose which officer he lost (alternatively, he will lose the officer that was aboard the ship that sunk).

    6. Maybe don' t call these guys officers but "specialists".

  5. I don' t really see a problem here. I love to see my ship sailing across the map, especially now with some extra "prize" like fishes. But we must not forget, that there are some "managing" parts in this game and that we must be able to do this managing without artifical hindrances. Truly nobody is hurt when we are able to jump from one outpost to another, because it just eases the workload we have while organizing our own economy and resources. It is not like we can teleport our fleets back and forth or our goods. So please everybody calm down a little bit and let people have this little piece of "peace". Nothing on this outpost-teleporting will make you "pew pew pew" more. For me it is much more joy to do my managing quickly and then get back to the real game: sailing and fighting (so much for pew pew...).

  6. Instead of all these little changes trying to mitigate a problem, why not change the main aspect of looting in a way that lets the group or person who first entered a battle decide how to distribute a boarded ship or found upgrades etc. This would at least make it impossble for some griefer to "steal your ship". And it would be much easier to manage distribution of a ship later, as it happend to me a few times, that I had to finally capture a ship that my friend wanted to sail later - sometimes I didn' t even had a free slot at my outpost, etc.
