  1. Actually there were quite a few things wrong with her, most of which Pellew was able to fix with a little re-rigging and ingenuity, but the biggest problem it had was mast placement, and that never got fixed.

My Post was in regards to #328, read the post and my response carefully! (or read #343)

  2. You can hate Indefatigable, you can love Indefatigable, but you should not just make stuff up about her!  There was NOTHING wrong with her design, the ONLY reason she was razeed was because the British Admiralty feared a 64 would make no match for the newly designed French 74's.  She then went on as a frigate with an absolutely illustrious career!

  3. There has been a new influx of people since the Paypal issue, correct? It may be odd that most new people voted for one ship, but odder things have happened. It may just be a coincidence, not a conspiracy.  If there were any accusations to be made, I'd look at Wetworth for stuffing the box for USS Niagara  :P

Edit: Are the devs above bribery? How much $$$ we talkin' to get Niagara in game?

    That's just NOT funny!

  4. Word of warning about the Amsterdam though,

my dad used to work at the Scheepvaart Museum, where her 'replica' can be seen.

However, everyone working there just called her the 'Pancakeboat' because she's very inaccurately build.

I believe all the decks have been raised for tourists to easily and comfortably walk around in her. In my opinion this really shows. She looks way too high. If you think about how free they were with her dimensions, everything else should perhaps also be taken with a grain of salt.

The original Amsterdam won't do you much good either, seeing as there is so little left:

That's why I kind of think it's funny when people reference replica's as to what the original must have looked like, most sailing or static full size replica's are quite different from the original for a variety of reasons:

    1. Accessibility regulations, most people are over 4 ft 8

    2. Provisions for an engine, a must-have to get the tourists back by 4PM

    3. Weight distribution

    4. Modern amenities

    5. Safety

    6. Materials

    7. Money  To do things right costs money, lots of it. Most replica projects fail or get compromised simply because the lack of it.

The Amsterdam was indeed built solely for tourists, not to create a faithful replica of a Dutch East-Indiaman.

  5. Thanks, I've been looking for better pictures for hours. Do you have an image with more rigging visible ?

If anyone got a better model of Amazon-class and Agamemnon, or better descriptions of Wasa and Christian VII btw...

Hey Barberouge, she's not finished quite yet.  This one shows the overall size, no yards yet. Added also a side view.
