The game is not ruined, its not perfect, but definitely not ruined. Our clan has players in every continent and we experience zero ping issues. Not sure how the game is a grind, I haven't done a single PvE mission or trade run in last 8-10 months... the game is what you make of it and if you decide you need to grind (and quit the game because of it), then that's not the developer's problem.

They are not asking people to commit to the game, they are politely asking players to spend 5-10 minutes in the next month to clear out their redeemables. With the time it took you to write these forum posts, you could have unpacked your stuff. Good day sir.

Every continent and you've never once heard an Aussie say I'm rubber banding or I told my men to fire 5 seconds ago and they have lost half a broadside now because the enemy turned away or slipped past, or I missed that boarding action. All issues I didn't have when I was on global, game is ruined maybe not for you but for others it is and the kicks keep coming. Enjoy.

The merge happened like 3 months ago... unpack your stuff in a free town and use your 30 days deciding on a nation. You could spend a week in each nation and pick the one you like the most (just an idea). Just be thankful admin gave us a month notice, I can only imagine the storage space being used on afk players' redeemable inventories :o

Perhaps you didn't understand the game is ruined as far as I'm concerned, stupidly high ping, different time zones, mechanics that have turned the game into a grind, the last being reason alone not to want to play anymore. Perhaps I'm being optimistic that they will undo some of their changes after realizing it blows hard to leeway, until then Id rather not have to spend my time unpacking stuff for no reason. I know how databases work all these items in redeemable's can sit in another file and most likely already does and doesn't even get touched until requested so its not effecting the database that would more generally be used, asking us to clear them out just seems the lamest excuse ever to get people to commit to the game.

  3. So all my redeemables from global I have to unpack or lose the lot, thats just inconvenient because I'm waiting for the game to "recover" before I commit again, last thing I want to do is have to unpack all my ships upgrade ports and warehouses in a country I may not want to stay with, and they may delete my only forged papers that i cant pull out of storage. Feels like just another punch in the face for X Global players.

  4. I dont know why I keep feeling the compulsion to comment about this as the devs have already expressed their objective and considering alot of people here seem to agree with them at least until its implemented and feels broken. But perhaps its because I had high hopes for this game and that it, at this time, offers something other games dont, like large fleet battles and an OW contest. However when I take into consideration all the realism facts that could exist like tides and stealing wind, the game would become simply too annoying, especially stealing wind like this game needs any more reason to be a boarding game with what feels like an already existing OP de-masting system.

To me a good game is a balanced game, one that exists between realism and the arcade. To quote a dev earlier in this post "to try to please everybody you end up pleasing nobody, just proves that they dont understand that certain criteria of making a good game as it often falls somewhere in the middle, that line of acceptance of extreme and minimal tolerances to attract both types of players. There's no denying there are skillful players and noob's, so when it comes to a game that only appeals to the nautical percentage of the gaming population, when you make it to hard or annoying that it drives away the noobs well all of a sudden those large fleet battles become hard to fill due to falling interest and that then reflects in the veterans interest in the game.

Personally I feel I should have left at the merger as perhaps a lot of global players should as the two time zones clearly dont relate, or express the skill of certain global clans that existed now they just idle away wishing they had the numbers they once had to even contemplate a port battle. I no longer play this game due to things like the leeside dynamics, it was the the last straw for me as I can see a game that most likely going to suffer the fate I have laid out above.

We accept the fact that this game is not for everyone, and embrace it. If someone tries to please everyone he usually ends up pleasing no-one. Naval Action lees to a realistic side.

    Players  players who believe that

    • shooting games should have ironsights
    • ww2 plane games should not fly like flying saucers
    • car games should have handbrakes and drift
    • ship games should care about wind and its effects

    Will be happier.

Players looking for clicker heroes experience or other casual experiences (huge market for some developers) will not be happy with naval action at all. You should not force yourself to eat thai food if you hate thai food.

Maybe you are looking for a casual sailing experience which we never promised and there are such games on the subject. We will continue adding realistic mechanics that make game play better if they improve combat gameplay depth and add fun.

Your right about one thing, if a game doesn't suit your tastes then its not the game for you and for this reason I dont blame you or other people wanting this kind of realism in the game. Some people thrive on mental and physical challenges that's what makes each game unique and catered for those people. However and why I think this kind of implementation is wrong is because there's only so many of those people in the world who want the whole experience, a good example is when people complain about how few are in the game now to pvp with, a main reason global merged with EU in fact.

You keep segregating people with these kind of actions soon there will be to few people left playing. Its a game and the people who play the game come with all sorts of tolerances and wants. Dev's despite being the overlords of their world really have to look at balance when it comes to catering to their utopian dream game beacuase its about other people otherwise they are going to get nothing but torches and pitch forks in the forums or people leaving. A lot of talk about Ship Balance, but less about Game balance.

Example - When we talk of realistic features that were not implemented because they would have broken the game like running aground on rocks, people are quick to say yup its good that's not there.

When i bought this game I was after a battle simulator which means I could concentrate more on shooting my enemies and tactical positioning. Instead I have to somehow miraculously multitask for several different jobs all at once. For example a failed turn because I am also trying to fire my cannons during that turn. On a ship you maybe the captain but your not the only one working, there are crew member and lesser officers helping co-ordinate or carry out these commands so they happen without fail they are independent and automatic. Yet we accept this mechanic because it makes for interesting battles. A dozen tall ships however being blown slowly to shore, not so interesting.

What it feels like now is the game is turning  into more of a sailing simulator game that just happens to have cannons and politics. Sailing for me is becoming annoying and unenjoyable, especially when im trying to loot some ship before it sinks but leeside winds are making it twice as hard to reach my target than before. Who knows how many good books Ive missed in the past because i wasnt able to get to a ship in time so imagine this with leeside adding to my frustrations.

Lets face it as well the Ai isnt the smartest either it will beach itself and there are plenty of screenshots to prove it.

Anyway I dont expect you to take my word as prophecy because im only speaking from my level of understanding if you don't accept my arguments that's fine.

Once again good luck and may you see the light of reason one day.

  6. More grinding, just to play a game, this is just an imbalance to a game that is teetering on the edge as it is. Since buying this game Ive suffered the merge that has thrown my ping time up to 400+ms which I though ok just a it behind the other players but apparently also means there's packet loss as well so sometimes when i hit a key it doesn't even register. Sailing profiles, great just what we need to be dead in the wind or (chains) more often and from what Ive experienced sometimes this happens almost at 90 degree, is that actually a thing?
There's talk about capsizing and now the Victory Marks. I for one am looking forward to Skull and bones when its released because I will drop this game in a heart beat in preference nor will I be buying any other titles from this lot or recommending them until they start showing some sanity and prove they are behind the players and the games they release.

You really have no idea what you're talking about. Please stop.

Ive already expressed I'm no sailor, however considering that Redii has already given me the rant that in a game anythings possible I would tell you to stop trying to dictate to me rules on sailing however unrealistic they may be to you, like your an authority because? Further more if I didn't protest these changes we would end up with a game so difficult to play most people will give up and play a game easier to navigate and enjoy.
If the devs idea of ship balancing is to introduce capsizing well I guarantee you people will leave.

There's youtube videos widely available of things you claim to be impossible.

Never said impossible i said unrealistic because no one would typically use them and even if they did they would most likely be isolated circumstance or mistakes. Also pulling a fancy trick or maneuver like you see on you tube often comes at the price of a thousand mistakes. Perhaps I am to hasty to exclude it so I'm not stopping you for having the option to do so but leave me the option to play the game how i like I paid my money as well.

I have a tip for you.

If you dont do something in real life but you do it in a video game dont say something is not realistic. It actually could be realistic even tho you dont like it

I respect your opinion but seriously they are trying to make something realistic to life yet the mechanics and the enviroment in which we play only give us a portion of our bodily senses in which to gauge these things. If they included in the mechanics the ability to let out mains so i didn't sail backwards I may have less to complain about but in battle in a game or possibly real life I would opt for forward momentum pretty much all the time.

  10. All I can say is stop listening to these masochistic fools, there's enough to worry about in a battle other than another mechanic like capsizing bad enough the unrealistic reverse sailing. I'm no sailor but I'm pretty sure you would trim or let go sail and use jibs to turn through the wind not let your mains blow you backward.

Between the EU server merge the reverse sailing for me this game is losing its appeal. Capsizing may just be the last nail in the coffin.

I'm not a big fan of shutting down the global server too, but can you explain how that works without causing conflicts in the OW states or be any different from just starting a character on the other server?

I'm not sure what your asking here from me, maybe because the answer is simple. People don't want to grind up again that's one main reason many from global have not moved across. Or perhaps there's other reasons like ping time.
As for OW states who cares if they get bolstered numbers or not if they dont nothing changes for them if they do maybe they can take back a bit of land they lost. Whatever. What is more damaging a few people merging across sporadically or a whole server getting dumped onto an existing ecology ?

Its going to be chaos and catastrophe and the game is going to suffer many casualties.

  12. Ok having played this for about a month now I've seen the extent of the toxicity and old grudges seeming to be carried over from one wipe to the next. Ganking fleets and super alliances or nations are killing the game not that they shouldnt exist to an extent as they are actually part of the game but when always directed on a certain percentage of the populace all the time those players get tired of well playing and the population dwindles and negative reviews start happening.

So while this could be blamed on the players it falls back to a lack of game mechanics to control these certain behaviors that are wreaking havoc on the game. I think we can all agree the game is good as a ship simulator as far as battles go and the Open world is as good as you could hope for so we only need to focus on how war is conducted.

My proposal is to scrap the port taxes, if anything ports should be making you money or at least allowing for certain resource control. Decades ago we had a game created by Sid Meir called Pirates, in this wars and alliances were declared by the Ai kings of their respective nations and you had letters or marque that allowed you to kill as you pleased their enemies. So lets assume that Naval action adopted a system like this to determine who warred upon who.  So for the system to work you would need.

Control Points - These would be accumulated by sinking enemy ships of that nation in OW and taking ports. Of course you would automatically get just enough to take a port when war was declared and when peace is declared all points are lost or turn into revenue of some sort. the idea here is to redirect the attention of nations around the map and give the opportunity for alliances to be made if multiple nations are warring with one at the same time.

Resource control - Well when not at war you will own precious ports that are needed to make the rarer items on the map, these can then be allowed to be purchased by nations not at war with you so they can make their flag ships or top modules which would encourage trade and supply lines.

The result would be that Over Powered nations attention would be directed around the map so no one was being obliterated all the time, your nation would only have to survive the week or two the war lasts. Supply lines would be established for players who like to trade and these would need protecting as I'm sure Ganking fleets would patrol the seas looking to disrupt this and get their PvP action maybe even attain said resources for themselves.

Of course these are just suggestions I'm sure this could be refined and improved upon but I think many would agree something has to change in the game.
