  1. Multiple times the developers promised that XP and crafting level will not be wiped, yet here we are.

Make your mind up and set up a proper development plan. Right now it seems you're deciding on the fly when and what to wipe, regardless of what you told the community.

I've spend a lot of time leveling under the assumption that those levels wouldn't be wiped anymore. If you want to wipe progress, don't publicly state that it won't get wiped. It's misleading and robs people of their time

Sidenote: if you want to wipe with an equal playing field as reason, everything except DLC items would need to go, simple.

"Do not Redeem until you are sure of the nation you want to play".

One thing everyone is missing. Right now all characters share the same Rank XP and Crafting XP. So if you log in in all servers and do a battle you will have redeemables in all servers after the wipe.

Yes, but if I delete a character after the wipe without applying the redeemables, am I able to create a new character and apply the redeemables on that one?

There is an alternative of course

We can wipe everything now including XP
AND just provide rear admiral rank to everyone who played during EA solving all potential redeemables and late comer problems.
Active players are max rank anyway. And we doubt retired players will come back and doubt they will be unhappy with rear admiral rank.

That would be great. It would leave open options to join all nations on any server, even for inactive players who cannot sync their battles for one reason or another. It also helps guys like me that have to try really hard to get to max rank before wipe. I approve :)

As a developer I´d do it anyway. Santissima exclusive to Spanish only

This would boost my company revenue as many bought ALT accounts just to get the SANTI at their Spanish account....

Think it this way... equal access to all the ships....can be done by Small Battles (free for all ships) or Duels with no effect.

On the other hand...THERE IS EQUAL ACCESS to all ships already. GO and CAPTURE them. Why craft all?

I never crafted a SANTI but bought them or captured an AI SANTI.

    Why craft for all?

SANTI is Spanish, finito of discussion....

Nice meme, not like the French share their Óceans and the Brits their Victories with you. Really selfish.

Makes perfect sense. Extends the life of the game as we all make our way through the ranks again.

There should be a massive influx of new players when the game goes live. This is when the reset should be done. Is it fair that us lot are all sailing around with extra crew and all the other benefits of rank when they don't? Brings everyone down to an equal level, so no massive advantage in battle. We would still be able to craft all the ships, they get to craft a canoe? New people are still going to be faced with those who can craft larger ships almost from the get go. Can't see them sticking around after being killed by a couple of high level players. For those that join after the live, then that's something else.

As for clanner, most of my clan vanished in the last update and have pretty much wrote the game off so . . .

    think about it.

All of a sudden you have something you don't want to give up, so it must be an advantage.

That's the point of a game. Progression. Whether there are max rank players at launch doesn't change anything for new players, it rather increases new players as the experienced and higher ranked players will be able to help newer players and give them something to look forward to. Wiping XP doesn't influence the economy in any way and doesn't really have an effect on new player influx, making it redundant.

To clarify, we keep Rank and crafting level?

    Yes

Crafting level remains. Hence the ability to build ships.

As the entire system is under rework the ships schematics ( BPs ) will be readily available by crafting experience, basically becoming redundant.

Notable exception being the Admiralty ships.

Issue with the economy is we are still dealing with the after effects of fine woods. Inflation or deflation is expected. However, we are dealing with elements of hyper inflation. People are going to lose everything anyways, for sure when the game is released. It would be wise to make a test at the earliest moment with as little wipes between now and release. Doing multiple wipes will be the quickest way to destroy a testing community that have been "testing" as long as we have.

Way they are making it sound with going to one dura ships it will effect the economy right away. Without an economic reset and stockpile wipe the economy will get worse and there will be little wide testing on the crafting. Simply because whats the point to build a ship when the market will be flooded with ships and I have a butt load of currency just collecting dust. Like having United States dollars in Cameroon.

Resetting an economy isn't a fix, it's merely a postpone of an economical crash. It's not like "if we reset it it will somehow remain fine".

I get the logic :) but I hold my reserve regarding that.

As I see, the 5 dura needs now can perfectly be used for a 1 dura, adjusting where needed the amount of materials or labour hours.

My logic tells me to look to historical records of materials needed and how many hours spent and hope that the crafting update mirrors a bit more realistically the shipbuilding.

That is not how a game works. This game has a currency on which all material prices are based (gold). Disconnecting crafting materials from gold and connecting them to "historical values" would immediately crash the economy unless something is done about the gold as well.

  9. 3 minutes ago, Hethwill said:

How do you know this ? Testbed ? Any crafting update there ?

That would be only logical. As buying a basic frigate right now already costs 2 million or more, it seems only reasonable that prices have to be cut somehow if they want all ships to have 1 dura. Otherwise you hunt all the players without a huge gold stack away.

Market forces (people not buying ships they feel are way too expensive) should force prices down as people undercut each other to try and make some money - afterall, it costs to put a ship up for sale and if money is hard to get hold of then you want to recoup your outgoings and make some profit, and if it doesn't sell and the ship is returned to your harbour then you've lost money.

Furthermore, captured ships should be far more viable now. If the ships on the market are too expensive, take one from someone else or the AI. Whilst you won't get to cherry-pick the ship's wood types etc, if you need another ship it'll do as a replacement until you can get something better.

That's not how economics work. The majority of the players will demand ships that aren't sold by AI and thus have to be crafted by players. Only a select amount of people can craft these ships, making the demand way bigger than there are offers after the wipe. This will give these crafters a chance to basically set the prices they like, as players will have to buy ships regardless. Without ships there isn't a game, so you'll have to pay the price unless you're a crafter yourself. That's why this wipe will most likely hurt the more casual/beginning players quite hard, as they most likely won't have the funds nor the crafting level to obtain the ships they should own. Over time balance will (hopefully) restore as ships will become a more common good and players will start to capture ships.

Im pretty sure ships will be much cheaper to craft because they only have one dura ( when they increased the dura on 1st rate to 3 they trippled the price for it, so it would be only logic that frigates will cost 1/5 of the prize). So it should be affordable for everyone.

If that would be the case then it's completely fine with me :)

What refund? It was clearly said that there will be wipe in the future. Some chaps need understand that they still testing game and this is not final game version. So no more moaning please.

I don't mean refund, but a (partial) reimbursement for the lost ships in gold. You are probably a veteran with crafting level 50 and millions of gold in your pockets, so you can just buy/craft your new ships right away, but not everyone has progressed as far. That's why I feel this will most likely hurt the rookies the most.

In 2016 the game has done the number of experiments and because of those experiments the amount of resources or wealth due to bugs or welfare for early access does not allow to tune the economy for the release state. It was known in advance and we have said before that assets will be wiped several times before the release.  We absolutely need to do this wipe to see if everything we learnt over last year will be applied successfully.

Wipes are impossible on release date, thus they have to be done now. Participants of the early access will be rewarded on release for all the pain.

I fully understand the wipe, but with the current inflation I can barely buy a single ship back after the wipe, which basically renders the game unplayable for me. It would be really nice to receive some kind of refund so I can at least buy a ship back that belongs to my rank. Even a small frigate costs 2 million nowadays. Also, am I still considered a participant of Early Access, even though I bought the game on Steam?

  14. Will there be any refund for the ships that are taken away? My biggest fortune (which is small for you guys I reckon) currently is invested in ships, which basically means I lose pretty much everything I have. It would be kind of great if I could buy some ships after the wipe so I can actually keep playing without having to back to a Cutter.

I don't really get this part:

    Quote

The drop is automatic 100% this way in the long run quicker and cheaper. DO NOT do it on the cheap building M'crft it won't drop all the BPs in one go. Pick Your builds in this order...

    1.Except Brig
it will drop in one build Mercury, NavyBrig, MotarBrig and Rattlesnake.

    2. Except Murcury
it will drop in one Build Niagara, Surprise, Renommee

at XP 25 you will get an auto Frigate BP. Better to build Renomme than the frigate

    3 Renommee Exceptl
will drop in one build Belle Poule, Le Gros Ventre

    4 Exceptl Belle Poule
will drop in one build Le Gros Ventre, Ingermanland, Trincomalee, Essex and the Constitution

you can work out the rest from there...
Build 4 exceptional ships only, and you get 12 BPs...

What you're implying is that building one exceptional Brig grants me 4 BPs guaranteed right? Because according to this post:

There is a percentage break down when you craft certain BP's that gives you the higher tier BP.

    http://www.navalactioncraft.com/blueprints

If you don't use gifted you have a 5% chance to get the BP for a common ship, but 25% for an Exceptional.  If you use gifted it turns that 5-25% into 10-50%.   Once you learn a BP you can't get it to drop again.  So if you want to farm a few of them for alts or lower level clan mates than you don't want to learn the BP.  Look for the ships that will give you more BP's when you craft them.  These are the ones you want to craft to get the best results.

    I only have 50% of a BP. Because 5% * 5 (exceptional) * 2 (Gifted) = 50%

  16. Hey guys,

New guy here. I have a few questions about BPs:

I'm currently level 10 crafting and working hard to increase that. I know that there a several BPs that you will simply unlock by crafting. Others have to be found elsewhere, through breaking up ships or being lucky when crafting a ship

    1. If I break up a ship that's way above my level, will I still have the same chance of receiving the BP for that ship as players with a higher crafting level?
    2. Do current owned blueprints have any influence on the chance of a BP dropping from breaking up ships? Example: when crafting a pickle you have a high chance of receiving a Mercury BP. Does that mean that breaking up Mercuries is more likely to give a Mercury BP for me than if I didn't have a pickle BP?

Theoretical example: if I break up 10 Santisimas, do I have the same chance of receiving its BP as a crafting level 50 player?

    Thanks for your answers!
