@Slamz all you sound like is the Bully that throws a fit when you don't get your way and refuse to pick on some one your own size or bigger. How about ya'll leave the Danes and Swedes to do what ever they want north of a certain line and come play with some of the bigger boys that do have players in your time zone slots of active play time.
Classical closed minded rated-ship thinking. Flip ports, get them in the water where you know they are at and sink them on the open sea. Forget about the port battle, wait for them to zone in and then slaughter the screening ships.
Maybe coordinate with/hire mercenaries

Nope that makes national v national siege/territory conquering far too easy with no way to counter. Only pirates should be able to teleport to free town, and they shouldnt be able to capture ports

At that point we had sunk over 2 million worth of Dutch ships, thanks to a fiery explosive move from [PURGE] Anne. If you were downwind you probably would have been driftwood as well.
Or if you want to make money like a true pirate instead of your treaties and handshakes, we would do some business...

Not having the Swedes do the flips themselves and (Danes attacking French held port) = violation of treaty. If Swedes wanted to hand off the ports, they needed to be in THEIR possession first, none of this Danes doing it for them.. Danes broke the deal in less than a day.

LOL nothing in the agreement protects Sweden, just that we wouldnt take Windward or Bovenwinds from you. Since you are incapable of taking it yourselves and need Danes to do your dirty work and they have technically violated the agreement, we'll just see how long this treaty stays in effect.
French merchants can trade wherever they please. We laugh at your pathetic empty threats.

It might be visualized in alphabetical order, but it should be fullfilled oldest first.
As for everything else, welcome to the open market. If you want to win a bidding war, aim higher with larger pockets.
Similar for ship combat, sometimes you face a big ship with bigger guns and you wish you had a deflector shield mod.If you do not have something useful or constructive to say then stay off these forums.
Pirates of the Burning Sea had already solved this problem with a hidden bid value, only showing the recent price history. So you couldnt see WHO or HOW MUCH a product was currently going for.

Please change the contract system so that if you want to place an order that already exists, you must increase the bid by a minimum percentage, say 5% for starters.
This logging in and outbidding by 1 gold stuff is ridiculous.

Yep, need to reward all contribution not just attendance. Plenty of other games already have systems like this like GuildWars2, Elderscrolls Online and Planetside2.

1slot = linked to ship class size: Small (6-7), Medium (5-4) and Rated (1-3)
2slot = linked to actual ship rating 7,6,5,4,3,2,1
3-5slot is actual XP earned on that particular ship

Really getting tired of bad game design and not thinking how people are going to abuse the system. For the past 3-4 port battles, enemies have RISKED NOTHING in basic cutters and undo our contention efforts. DEVS, please address this PRONTO

even after battle is over, captains should NOT be able to punch out immediately. they should have to sail past an outter ring in order to escape. We just had a giant PB and only had 2 ship casualties

easier to just award craft xp for everything~. previous system where you still got xp for making parts worked fine. why was it changed?

Not exactly sure what you mean. But you do have to be OUT Of the port on the open sea to use it.

Here are some small Quality of Life items that would make the game less tedious.
- Enable 'Auto' Crew any ships added to fleet
- Dump hold to warehouse, dump all fleet holds to warehouse
- Pin items to hold so they are not dumped (minimum repairs, etc)
- when adding contracts, take from warehouse first, not hulls
- keep protractor shown
- show hold space Remaining (mouseover?)
- show fleet hold space TOTAL & what is REMAINING
- Center map on last port exited(check box)
- claim & repost contract (same terms)

You need to think your mechanics out better. Long invisibility/invul timers means people can jump from port to port or into battles without ever fearing of being attacked on the open sea. PotBS learned that lesson, its called 'puddle jumping'

Your ideas are basically kinda what I expected from the crew system, some officers or special function individuals that you can keep and develop over time. I like the ideas, but also want more options to specialize my ship, akin to mods.
Sgt. McGregor - improves reload of long guns by 2%
Engineer Bob - Increases armor repairs by 3%
etc etc yadda

I dont really see what this adds besides more logistics and unfun factors that slow the game down.
I was expecting to see some sort of officer hire/train system that would grant bonuses to your ships, ala StarTrek Online.
Could you not just add some sort of maintenance upkeep system for how much crew you have or used recently? and deduct weekly

Oh I forgot to ask, do you have a mechanic planned to determine WHO gets into port battles? I did not see this mentioned anywhere and will become more important once port battles become more meaningful.
Currently it is the first 25 people to click in, which is chaotic and open to trolling.
Can preference be added for clans who have purchased flag or own the port so their players can get some sort of boost over general population?

Looks like some great changes.
Since defenders will have advanced notice, is there a chance that windows will be made significantly larger? from 2 to 4-8 hours?
